Surround yourself with other positive people, and don't buy into someone else's outlook if they're often negative.

Do these four things and you never fail to be positive.  Always do all of them and you will be a positive person, it takes work, but it is worth it.

    1.  Be good at something, find something that you can be an expert at, like collecting things, or building things, or writing, etc.

    2.  Belong to something, find something that you can belong to, a church, study group, scouting, knitting, scrap booking, ceramics, card players, roadside cleaners, volunteer group, etc.

    3.  Give something, find some way to give to your fellow man, volunteer, work for habitat for humanity, help feed the homeless, collect gifts for children, decorate hospitals, etc.

    4.  Take care of yourself, eat right, exercise, groom, find a way to have spiritual experiences, laugh every day, and share yourself with others.

Be confident and you have to have decision before you do something. You have to have knowledge for everything you are trying to do.

Apart from what the others have said.. let me add on...

    Count your blessings,
be grateful for what you have and
make sure that you do enough to keep things working.. neglecting people and stuff doesn't help.

This quality has always helped remain positive despite circumstances.

Decide to be happy every day...  . Be cheerful always smile

Sometimes when I get in a funk, it helps to find some cheery song and just sing along. Jumping and spinning is another way that cuts through my negative state -- it's hard to feel bad when you're doing something goofy. Also, blowing bubbles is a good way to relieve stress from time to time.

A friend of mine once said that when she was really angry about a situation at work, she sat down and wrote a list of all the things she was thankful for. I think acknowledging the problem and then choosing to be joyful anyway is another way to stay positive.

Well, just remember the ones who have died prematurely. They don't even have a chance to improve their lives. Compared to them everyone alive has amazing chance to make things right. And today is a perfect day to start going forward with full force.

Apart from many great tips given here, I'd like to add one more. ALWAYS KEEP YOUR BRAIN BUSSY! When peole are left alone with their thoughts doing nothing, 90% of their thoughts are negative. So even when you're eating or commuting to work always think about your future, your plans, goals etc. It will help you to avoid negative thoughts and raise your spirits.

Look around you at those less fortunate . . . things could always be worse.  Being negative only makes things worse - nothing good comes of it.

Your thoughts are the key.  If you are feeling positive, then keep up with those good thoughts!  If you are feeling negative, know that some thoughts you have been having have caused you to start to FEEL not so good.  Just change your thoughts back to positive ones, do something you love like being in nature, patting your cat, listening to inspiring music!

The positive thoughts outway any negative thoughts!  They are much more powerful, so don't worry if you have some negative thoughts, don't give any power to them, just let them on their way, and really enjoy the positive ones!

believe in yourself. it's honestly that simple. don't turn to god or some stronger power, you are god and you are your own strongest power. just remember life is what you make of it and only you can make it awesome.

Look what for you do have versus what you don't have.  Even in the toughest of times, if we are able to see what we do have in our lives we find gratitude.  Gratitude feels GOOD, the more we look for, the more we find.
It's hard to be negative when you are grateful for all you have.  smile

be thankful for the things you have. focus on those and not on the things that are bringing you down. list out the things you are grateful for every day and eventually the list will get longer and longer until you are thankful for everything, even if at frst it starts out jst a i am thankful i have clothes or i am thankful i have a roof over my head. i am thankful for the sunny day. etc. smile

The answer is very simple, it was given to me by my grandfather.

Rule #1 - Don't sweat the small stuff.

Rule #2 - Other than your relationship with God, Everything is small stuff.

Spend some time working with developmentally disabled people.  I have spent a lot of time with Special Olympics and I always come away feeling much better.  The teams play for the love of the game not for recognition or money.  It is so great to see their eyes light up when they make a basket, you would think they just won the NBA championship.
One team had as their goal that every member would score no matter what.  They didn't feel like they would be successful if everyone wasn't successful.
We could all learn a lot from these teams.

    Three things:

    1.  Focus on what is working in your life.  You can do this by writing out at least 5 things you're grateful for each day.

    2.  If you're feeling stressed about something that has happened, ask yourself 'what is great about this? or what can I learn from this?'  If you look you can find something that can help you in your life and/or see the positive side of a situation.

    3.  Question your thoughts.  We tend to make up stories about why someone said or did something or didn't say or do something when the truth is we don't know!  Byron Katie's 'The Work' process on her site (www.thework.com) in 'The Work' section is a simple process for questioning thoughts.

Tips for staying positive implies that you usually are positive.  My experience has proven to me that you can't let others control your thoughts, moods or feelings.  You have to be in control... so... if the downer dudes come knocking on your door, don't let them in.

I think always be positive is key to success. Because life is full of uncertainty where you can't rely on one thing. Their has to be second option ready which will definitely work if your not get success in first option. Definitely this algorithm works because, trying is best way to learn and choose the right track of the life will definitely make you positive.

    Fruit smoothies.

    ...it works for me.

No, but really.   Eating a balanced and healthy diet actually does have an effect on your brain/mood.  When I'm eating right, I feel better physically and mentally.... and I am more positive about things.   When I eat like crap, I can get mildly depressed.  Exercise helps too.   After a good workout, you feel motivated.   Constantly striving to improve on yourself helps too... I love reading self-improvement books and blogs.

Dreaming about future (long and short term) plans that I have definitely helps keep me positive about things.
