1.) Hannity and the Seth Rich conspiracy
2.) Trump and the racist Birther conspiracy
3.) Spicer saying these are the largest crowd sizes ever
4.) Trump's 'I'm the least racist person you'll ever interview' statement
5.) Mexico is going to pay for the wall
6.) When I'm president, I'll hardly have time for golf

This is the last card to draw when you are out of arguments...the race card and it won’t work.
Do you even know why? Because HE is NOT a RACIST? As much as you and the media wants to paint him as such. His record speaks for it self...you cannot hide for 70 years in America, in NYC, in Hollywood and be a racist.

Your complete denial of the way Trump has emboldened white supremacists is not a card to draw.  It's a reality that you refuse to face.

And your complete lack of historical facts pertaining to Trump's racism is laughable.  Do some research about the suits he had to settle because of his discriminatory housing practices.

            Birther, totally racist.
Very fine people on both sides, white supremacy supportive.
            Sh*thole countries, racism.
Muslim ban, discriminatory based on religion.
Mexican judge cannot do his job because of his heritage, discriminatory.

Here's a more comprehensive list since you're oblivious:

I heard all those and they are distortions by the media...
Ask yourself this question. Pay attention and you may just learn something.
Remember Paula Deen? The celebrity chef with a popular TV show?
What happened to her? Because of some racist comments years ago...
Now ask yourself, if Trump was a racist as you claim, how did he survived in Hollywood for 14 years on the Apprentice?
If you can answer that question, then you would have hit upon something.
If not, you are just misled by a dishonest media who turns or spins everything Trump into a negative light.

Jack, I'll counter the Hollywood reference by asking how Harvey Weinstein lasted in Hollywood much longer than Trump with his background.  Saying someone was in Hollywood doesn't absolve them of their issues.  Question answered, I'm a hitter.

Second, none of my examples need any media backing to be proved as racist or discriminatory.  Four of my examples are based directly on views Trump holds or words he's spoken.  People don't need any media intervention to recognize racism when they see it in these cases.

I’ll just use one example you raised. The comment he made about both side have good people in the Virginia incident was miss interpreted by the media.
When he said both sides, he was referring to the people that wanted to keep the statue in place vs. the people who wanted to take them down. The white supremist that showed up were just a small minority of trouble makers. They were injected to this discussion by the media who went out of their way to seek them out creating the illusion that they were a big part of the demonstration.
So, does this change your mind? I don’t think so. When you set out with a preconceived notion, you stick to it and would not be open to facts... a sad state to be in. It is almost like wishful thinking...

And people like Harvey Weinstein, Kevin Spacey, and Matt Lauer were fine businessmen and entertainers, until people had the guts to reveal them for who they truly are.  Just because people have fear of retribution from those with power, does not absolve those with money from being criminals and degenerates.

            Sharlee,
I saw that talking point yesterday too.  In 2010, black unemployment was at 16.8 percent.  Last year, before Trump took office, it was 7.9 and now it's 6.8.  So from 2010 to 2016, it dropped the exact same amount per year that it dropped during Trump's first year in office.  Yet, you're claiming it was all Trump  Maybe some deeper research into the facts before making such a claim or thinking I'd just lay it off to Obama without some numerical data to back up an argument.

          rac·ism
          NOUN
prejudice, discrimination, or antagonism directed against someone of a different race based on the belief that one's own race is superior:

the belief that all members of each race possess characteristics or abilities specific to that race, especially so as to distinguish it as inferior or superior to another race or races.

Nowhere in there will you find that demanding a birth certificate for a presidential candidate is "racism".  Nowhere will you find anything about religious beliefs.  Nowhere will you find that thinking someone's birthplace is a specific country is "racism".

It was a stupid claim from the start, but it is not "racism".  To play the race card over claims that a candidate was not a "natural born citizen" is as bad as the original claim as it has exactly nothing to back it up.

To demand it of a black candidate and not of the white candidates before, or after, him, certainly seems to set one's race to a different set of standards.  Would that not be prejudicial?

The Trump effect, is what is driving this right now.

Because they would rather have a populace dependent on their handouts and foodstamps and unemoloyment checks and welfare and free healthcare...

And anybody who says they don't see skin color is lying. I certainly try not to judge people on it, but I certainly see it. It's kind of unavoidable. I just try to be aware of my prejudices and remind myself of them.

I don't know, Aime.  For one, I'm sick and tired of hearing political commentary disguised as "news".  Sick and tired of hearing only one side of events, again disguised as "news".  Looks to me like it isn't Trump dividing the nation; it is the news organizations that put out stories designed specifically to convince a listener/reader of something that is quite false.

Pretty important, I think, that we have a press that is unbiased and reports the story, the whole story and nothing but the story.  And we don't have it.

      1. Aime F profile image70

Sure, but I can’t help but notice the absence of any and all conservative-leaning news outlets.

Where’s Fox? Breitbart? Infowars? I know you’re smart enough to realize that they’re not a lot better, just veering in the opposite direction. You’ll notice that Jack’s link to the awards came from infowars. Which is hilariously ironic.

If you’re gonna call out news outlets for being biased and telling tales then call them all out. Only calling out the ones that don’t jive with your political views is also, in fact, very divisive.

Oh, sure.  I can't expect a politician (even a new one like Trump) to be fair and even in his attacks on his political enemies.

But then Trump isn't a news organization supposedly giving us the events of the day.  He's a politician whining about how he's treated unfairly and attacking those he perceives as doing it.  I expect a politician to be biased and try to convince the public he's right.  Don't you?

To some extent, sure. But I feel like Trump is really running with it to the point of silliness with this one. It’s not like we didn’t already know what Trump thinks of the MSM. I was tired of hearing the term “fake news” like a month into his presidency and it hasn’t really let up since then either.

This isn’t going to change anyone’s minds about what they read/watch. This isn’t going to make news outlets change their reporting because people will still tune in. It just gives conservatives something to snicker about. Yes, very important stuff happening here...

Without our 'fake news' organizations, Flynn would still be National Security Advisor.  Not until the Washington Post made the story public, did the Trump administration act.  It's only 'fake news' if it's critical of Trump.  That, in and of itself, is what makes it, and any of his supporters, laughingstocks.

LOL  No argument from me - the whole thing has become nothing if not silly.  A group of kindergartners squabbling in the sandbox couldn't do a better job of accomplishing that.

But we CAN hope that if enough hue and cry is raised that mainstream media will re-think their policy of "reporting" in a decidedly slanted, biased and incomplete manner.  This thread is a good example:

              https://hubpages.com/politics/forum/144 … t-disease-

as CNN makes a very deliberate attempt to convince the reader of something that just isn't true - that President Trump has a bad case of heart disease and is therefore unfit for the office.  He likely won't last the year out, after all.  They could have run the headline as "Pres. Trump Has <the normal> Heart Disease <for his age>"  Or "Pres. Trump Has <minor> Heart Disease".  Or "Pres. Trump Has <completely treatable> Heart Disease.

Any of those are technically true, including the headline actually used, but these give a reader the whole story instead of giving the impression that the man is on his last legs.

And it is important, IMO.  I said that.  But I'm also a long, long way from saying that this is the right method of reducing or stopping it.

              1. Aime F profile image70
Aime Fposted 6 years agoin reply to this

I agree. I hate sensational headlines coming from either side. And CNN has had some terrible “stories” covered (like the eating burgers in bed thing... I just... why). I’ve rolled my eyes many times at MSM and liberal-leaning sites.

The problem is if we’re only calling down the liberal MSM outlets, what’s left if they do eventually get drowned out? We’re left with the conservative outlets that really are no better, and as Jack and many others have made abundantly clear, they consider that to be “the truth”... so we’re just flipping the exact same problem to the other side.

We need to demand unbiased and intelligent reporting from everyone and we need to learn how to hear and accept things that don’t fit with what we want to be true.

                1. wilderness profile image96
wildernessposted 6 years agoin reply to this

Again, no argument from me.  While I find the right news sources (such as Fox) to be superior to the left leaning ones, it isn't by much and they don't win any prizes for unbiased reporting.  And the talk shows are at least as bad as those from the right.

We're dreaming, I know, to think we'll have unbiased reporting again.  But then it was an even bigger dream to think that such a person as Trump could ever occupy the white house, too.  Dreams DO come true sometimes; maybe we'll get lucky here, and the media will straighten itself out while Trump goes on to actually improve the country.  My bet's on the first one as being more probable when it comes to long term results (20,30 years)
