   What does it mean to give of yourself?
   
   "You give but little when you give of your possessions. It is when you give of yourself that you truly give."    so, how do you give of yourself?

   I think listening with the heart is a huge gift of ourselves to those we love.  Listening has become a rare experience.  When was the last time you felt you had another's undivided attention.  When you do have you know that person has given him/herself to you.

   I believe to give of yourself means to give in all areas of yourself.  Give your time, give your service, give your listening ear, give your wisdom, give your heart; give what you possess in order to bless, help or encourage another person.
   
   I most often give of my time and with a listening ear.  It is harder to give in the way of service for me ... but if I was truly giving of myself I would not think about what is hard but what I can do to bless, help or encourage another.

   Good question elayne.  I was mentored for years by a very wise man who instilled "You Get By Giving" as the motto by which I now live my life.   I've written a few Hubs with this theme in the past and it deals with givers and takers.  Giving of yourself, especially the most precious thing any of can give which is your time, is where you get back what you need as a person.  There are those in life though that will bleed you dry.  I call them the ultimate takers in life.  Not my bag though.

   Share you skills and personal gifts with others to make their lives happier and more meaningful....materialistic posessions are here for us just to EXIST...not to STRIVE and GROW and FIND OUR PURPOSE in life...

   A smile , a hug, a phone call, a meal, a anonymous act of kindess, whatever one can do to touch someones life and  never, ever expect in return, that's true giving of yourself!!
