It is 1959 sometime, I was 3 and my Pop brought me a candy bar and hugged me, but I can't remember anything much more about this. I am sure we said I love you's and well he was a wonderful man. He would be about 100 years old by now!

Somebody reaching into my crib.  Another memory from that time period... laying on a pillow in the front yard...

I love this because I've asked/been asked before and honestly my first childhood memory is standing in my back yard with a neighborhood friend whose name I can't even remember peeing on my dad's row boat. He hollered from the door to stop and I couldn't for the life of me figure out why he cared that I peed on a boat that was gonna get wet anyway...never occurred that he was yelling because my pants were wrapped around my ankles while the other neighbors were having a picnic. Anyway...you asked.

I was a baby about 1 or 1/2 year old in 1952-3. I was standing up in the front seat next to my mother who was driving with my baby bottle in my hand. I can see the size of the car and feel the back of the seat against the back of my head. My mother said, "Sandra Diane, if you throw that bottle out the window that is the last one you will ever have." Holding the bottle by the nipple I slung it out the window. I asked my mother about this and she confirmed it to me. Guess it had happened before. haha.

Like you know that there are NOT memories that aren't human?  Or is it that you just can't remember?

The earliest memory is your first knowledge of being aware of anything. It leads to a conundrum. You can know your memory is accurate about experiencing a point in time; but how do you know that that point in time was the earliest -- earlier than any other you remember? At 2 or 3 years old, a child has no sense of chronology.

So many memories came forward to me and I too began to wonder how to know which is first.  Oh well, I just picked one most vivid!

Hmmmmm, my earliest human memory when i was in second grade about 11 years ago, and the assistant principal came running in and pulled down a map and pointed at New York and started crying, my teacher had to calm her down and ask what was happening, she said that her brother was in the process of evacuating, and wasn't sure he was going to make it.

It was 9/11, 8 O' Clock in the morning.

i have had earlier memories, but nothing as powerful and specific as such.

Do you remember your Kindergarted teacher?  Day care workers?  Relatives whom you met once in a while?  Most folks have lots of memories before age 7...  a special Doll you liked? First Pet?

I don't know how old I was. I asked my mother to explain what I remembered. I moved out of a gate, with a low bamboo bar then went to another house. I realize now that I was already able to walk. She said that was the time we were moving from our first house by the side of a national highway as a way to avoid being run over by track when my brother and I crawled out of bed to the road. She was a dressmaker and sometimes forget about her babies when she immersed herself in sewing. I gather I must have been a baby because the next thing I remember is that I woke up from an afternoon nap lying in a hammock beside my mother. As she sewed she swayed the hammock. I must have been about one year old as I remember I was hungry when I woke up and cried for a breast feeding. I saw green like jelly which must have been signs of hypoglycemia. Up to now I still have episodes of hypoglycemia. At the time there was no formula milk. Besides, mothers then breast fed their babies.

I remember when it snowed in Mexico back in the 70´s, and I was two years old. My mother took me out of the home to see the snow. I was amazed to see the streets covered with a white substance, and I was screaming at my mother that there were lots of sugar all around.

My earliest human memory is of some kind of animals floating above me.  Elephants and giraffes stick out in my mind.  Obviously they were mobile-type cardboard animals, as my parents would not have permitted actual animals over my crib.  They were strict like that.

My earliest non-human memory I am not at liberty to discuss as per the U.S. Government.

Too late, now you’re both exposed! But what kind of non-humans are you?

cryptid is under the jurisdiction of the U.S. Government, so you must be strawmen.

But don’t worry, the strawman is already exposed, and well published – it’s not your fault.

I believe I was about three years old!  My mom called me into the kitchen.  Once I got there, Mom told me to stand still a moment and wait while she drys her hands.  Next thing I knew, there was scratching at the back door and chirpping sounds!  I asked mom what that was and she replies, "I don't know, lets go see!"  Taking my small hand, we both open the door together.  My eyes and mouth became big excited circles when I saw three baby chicks!  It was the night of Easter!  This was one of my Easter presents from the Bunny!  But later, my father told me that, they will only be here overnight and then he will take them to Aunt Pat's  farm.  I ballded and balled!  I wanted to keep them so bad.  Remembered how soft they felt and how the little yellow furry things tickled my hands.  Even though it was disappointing not to keep them, it was great to be three and hold a baby chick for the first time!

I ask this question of others all the time ... mine is when I was about two at our former house in San Rafael, CA and my dog was scratching at the fence to get out to the front yard.  I opened it and he ran out into the street after a cat and got hit by a car.  I distinctly remember him being swaddled in a blanket and feeling really guilty.  He did live - just a little injury.  Thirty years later, not knowing which house was ours (we moved shortly thereafter), I picked it out from my memory and was spot on.

My son tells me he remembers being born.  I'm not quite buying it!

My earliest memory is of my dad sitting with me on the bottom step of the stairs in my house and tying my shoelaces for me. I remember him being as big as a giant (as an adult, he's now shorter than me) and his voice being really deep. I just remember feeling content and secure.

I have a memory of when I was about 2 years old. I remember the scene very well. I was in my Aunt's driveway. There was a car parked there and I was standing next to a bright metal garbage can that was sitting just outside the side door of the house . I was wearing a winter coat and hat, although I don't remember any snow in the driveway, and nobody else was in the picture..
That has been, I believed, my very earliest memories however about 20 years later I found a photograph in my mothers papers that depicts my earliest memory exactly. The car, the garbage can, what I was wearing......it was all there. In fact it was so exact that since I discovered the photo I am not sure whether I am recalling my earliest actual memory or if my mind is remembering a photo I saw as a child. I am not certain anymore which one is real.
