   Do you ever bite yourself?
   
   I mean accidentally of course on the inside of your mouth or your tongue? I hate when I do that and it is not due to eating like a ravenous dog; though I do have sharp incisor teeth, I do take my time eating; but still it happens out of the blue. Does this happen to you?

   It happens when my neck is out of adjustment.  My jaw slides sideways and I bite my cheek.  Its awful.

   Yes, I do bite the inside of my cheek or my tongue from time-to-time, and it sure does hurt!  Yikes on those teeth there LOL.  Wonder if we just get in too big of a hurry while eating.

      I don't think I do; I hate to eat fast & the only times I catch myself doing that is sometimes sitting down with my husband & son eating while waiting for a ball game or at halftime in a hurry & I will be racing them when I realize what I

   Sometimes when I am chewing I bite the bottom, or side, of my tongue and occasionally my cheek.

   I was so interested I studied it and asked everyone who mentioned it what they were thinking about when they did it. To a person they were thinking about something to say instead of chewing their food. Totally unscientific -- but so is biting yourself.
   I understand that there are people that actually have their teeth "filed" like that as part of a immersion into groups that have a reason for it. Spooky

      I'll say! I did have incisors about that bad; lol, but they have worn down a good bit. Thankfully.

   Yes, it is painful and really annoying! I have bit myself under my tongue in the flabby flesh connecting it to my lower jaw, I don' t know how, for the life of me, that happens but it does (maybe my tongue has a double chin?).
   
   If I chew with my bridge out (not because of a storm but the bridge in my mouth) the open space makes it easy for my tongue to slip in the hole and get bit.
   
   Ever bite your tongue in your sleep? I have, that is the worse, especially when you are in the middle of dreaming you are eating a big fat juicy steak. From culinary ecstasy in a sweet dream state of sound sleep to an awakening pain worse than being kicked in the balls! Ladies if you ever wondered how that feels biting your tongue in the middle of a deep sleep is as close to it you'll ever get. Which reminds me...
   
   One of my daughters, when she was about 5 or 6 couldn't sleep so my  wife put her in the bed with us, unbeknownst to me as I was sound asleep. In the middle of the night she was tossing and turning in bed though she was sound asleep. This activity woke me a little and I turned onto my back. She was twisting and turning on her back between my wife and I then she laid still. I wasn't yet enough awake to know what was going on when my daughter raised her leg pointing her foot straight up into the air for what seemed to be minutes. I lay there thinking, what is that? when all of a sudden, as fast as a speeding bullet, it came down like a ton of bricks right between my legs.
   I remember now and so must correct myself, that was really worse than biting my tongue in my sleep....but the tongue is a close second.

      You must have inadvertently clicked on the HP time travel button which sent you 45 years into the future. I've been long dead but had my body frozen and re-invigorated last year so I'm still here. Amazing feat of post modern medicine!

   OH!  Don't you hate it when that happens??   At least once a month I somehow manage to gouge the inside of my right cheek.....& it's always the right one.  I blame the Dentist who did some repair work to my upper teeth on the right.  I swear he made my tooth bigger or something, which is why it catches the  flesh on my inner cheek!    OR...have my cheeks just gotten fatter??  Oh my!  LOL

      I don't do it as often anymore maybe because my teeth are worn down somewhat; especially the incisors but it does still happen just out of the blue and I do wish I had a clue. It is like my mouth just twists around out of my control and just chomps!

   I bite my cheek on occasions while I'm eating. The problem with that is my cheek swells up once I've bitten it which means that until it heals I bite my cheek every time I chew!

    I do! Despite the fact that my teeth know EXACTLY where the inside of my cheeks are, AND my tongue - once in a long while I bite them.
    
    Wouldn't you think that my teeth would be smart enough to stop shy of places that have been there for well over half a century?

    I had to laugh when I saw your question.  Then when I opened it up to read more, I really laughed when I saw the picture!  Yes, I sometimes bite the inside of my cheek and can never figure out why it happened.  Hate it!

    Often, the right inner cheek. This frightens me as my aunt died of mouth cancer. I am unaware of the connection but my fear is real.

       I wouldn't connect biting with cancer. You should talk this over with your doctor or at least do online research. It would be terrible living with that fear. Though very different one I lived with a health fear many years & thank God I'm rid of i

    Yes and my problem has been diagnosed as TMJ. My dentist said, "you have TMJ, you need to see your doctor." I went to the doctor and he said, "You have TMJ, you need to see your dentist." It was very frustrating until I found that a chiropractor could fix my problem. Of course, the fix is only temporary because my jaw continues to slip out. I consider it serious when I bite my jaw or sometimes my tongue several times in a couple of days. Then I go straight to my chiropractor. He gives me a whole body pop, but I tell him to concentrate on my neck. My problem is the result of a whiplash that I got in an accident in my 20s. (Of course there are other reasons for TMJ.) Anyway, I see him at least once a month.
    Jackie, you mention sometimes your mouth just twists out of control. That is my symptom, too.
