    Charred fingers
    Under the bridge
    Held rings bearing
    One name

This is my reflection of a sad accident that happened in my hometown today. A bridge collapsed, and several nameless people died.

chef-de-jourposted 6 years agoin reply to this

Verlie, your 10 word challenge must be delighting you, it never stops! As for the sketch.....I was looking out the window of this ancient cottage I'm renting and saw spider's webs - I leave them up, I like spiders, I like the idea of them creating a miracle - it was late afternoon, clear sky, rare for this part of the UK, and there was the clean half moon, behaving itself despite being only half of what it's supposed to be. Oh yes, the webs are outside - I've only one or two inside....

        1. snakeslane profile image87
snakeslaneposted 6 years agoin reply to this

Very nice. Spiders are busy this time of year here. I have a 'don't ask, don't tell' relationship with them (inside). Outside they can do what they want smile. If one is stuck in the tub it gets a free ride out. If they are very tiny, hatching in the lamp shade, they are doomed (unfortunately). And the one big guy behind the drapes usually stays hidden, but I see him from time to time, he's quite elegant. So yes, I love your poem! I'm so happy to hear what the intentions were behind it, I can see it clearly now. All that in 10 words!!!

        2. Senoritaa profile image81
Senoritaaposted 6 years agoin reply to this

I did think of spiders first, but it seemed too easy, and it felt more like a riddle. Now I am glad it was only spiders smile

Hi chef, you know it makes me a little nervous having The Esteemed Andrew Spacey wordsmith extraordinaire, analyzing my wretchedly wrested writing...But please don't stop! One of these days I may write wide awake smile
