    When
               I write
                          rhymes
                                       the lines
                                                     feel like
                                                                   skipping
                                                                                  stones . . .
                                                                                                                     .

Rinita, you are psychic I think. The barn swallow has become a sort of muse. I've been observing these lovely blue birds up close for weeks, as they built a nest, and now the chick (just seen one so far) is hatched! This is definitely part of a longer poem I seem to be dreaming in my sleep (working nights?) Thank you so much.

You are absolutely right, Verlie, about readers making up their own stories. Oh, and awaiting your poem on "starlight". I am sure it would be great!

Aw, you poets are incurable romantics...So, without further ado I redo a previously published 'starlight' poem (not 10 words, does it count?)

                Eternity

                Turned cold tonight.
                Diamond stars are bright
                in the crystal clear
                black shimmering light.
                Stepped out on the porch
                to catch a glimpse
                of eternity.

Thanks, yes safe where I am, but there are 600 fires burning across the province, and I don't know how many in Western US. Many communities on evacuation alert. A province-wide state of emergency has been declared here in British Columbia. I just read that we are experiencing the worst air quality on earth! Some places worse than others. Outflow winds are funneling the smoke out to the coast and mixing with fires burning here. Worth a poem I guess sad
