Please enjoy this short but thought-provoking poem by Misbah.
https://hubpages.com/literature/This-ex … n-illusion
I have occasionally had similar thoughts run through my head, Misbah. In fact, "existence" or "illusion" would both make good word prompts.
This little stanza came to me:
My life is an illusion,
sunrise to sundown.
Reality is when I dream,
It seems more fun somehow.
I've seen this speculation before. I'd love to read Misbah's thoughts about the topic, but the link in your post and on her profile isn't working at the moment.
Linda, I just checked and there is a 404 error now. Maybe Misbah is editing the article.
Yes, that thought occurred to me, too. I hope she does publish it again. I enjoyed reading your stanza.
John, perhaps it's all part of the magic of illusion, delusion, and hallucination.
Even I don't know what's going on. I believe it will be working soon. Even I can't see my hub on discover, but I can see it published in editing mode.
It's all about illusion, and it's happening right now. I believe, it's the most optimistic way of looking at it.
Hi Linda,
Thank you so much for informing us about this issue. I can see my hub in editing mode, it shows the hub is published, but I can't find it on Discover; it takes me to page 404. I'm not sure what's going on; maybe HubPages didn't like my thoughts on illusions and delusions.
I believe it is some kind of bug that will be resolved soon.
I'd love to read your feedback on this one. I'm hoping everything will be fine soon.
Happy weekend !
Blessings and Lots of Love to you!!
Thank you so much, John, for sharing my poem. This is so kind of you, dear friend.
I loved your stanza life is just like that. Sometimes I feel as if I'm in a lucid dream. I know I'm dreaming and trying to make things happen the way I want them to. If we try to look at life that way, it is simple and enjoyable.
I'm glad you liked it, and that you found it interesting and thought-provoking. Your kindness is greatly appreciated.
Wishing you a blissful weekend
Blessings always!!!
It is always my pleasure to share your work Misbah. The article is still not visible to us, are you editing it at the moment?
No, John, I'm not editing it. Maybe it's an error on HP's end. I'm hoping it's not that cookie monster.
I hope it will be alright soon.
A very thought provoking poem on illusion and reality. I often wonder too about it all. I enjoyed reading your poem. Have a great week end, blessings. Thanks John for sharing.
An interesting read Misbah!
This is thought provoking and clearly shows, how a writer's mind is always thinking.
An enjoyable read indeed. Let's live in the moment and enjoy it. Somethings are beyond our understanding.
Thank you for sharing.
Thank you John for highlighting this in the forum.
Dear Di, your beautiful and nice remarks are truly appreciated. I'm delighted you appreciated my short poem. You are right that there is much that is beyond our comprehension, thus living in the present moment is the best option available. I want to learn a lot, yet life is too short to absorb even a fourth of what exists.
Much Gratitude!
Blessings and lots of love!
Misbah a very intriguing article and definitely a creative and thought provoking poem. Kudos! I am known for saying to people who say they don't understand why this or that (There's that word you don't like) I reply, "Life is an illusion".
Here is some food for thought before I go off on a tangent. Illusion according to etymology came about the 14th century basically meaning "mid-14c., "mockery, scorning, derision;" late 14c., "act of deception; deceptive appearance, apparition; delusion of the mind,"
Now, off on a tangent. The speed of thought is estimated to be 150 milliseconds. A blink of the eye is 330 milliseconds. So, that means when something is sensed - touch, sight, sound, smell and taste, it takes a minimum of 150 milliseconds once the brain recognizes that sense has taken place to have meaning. In other words it is well in the past once you realize it, so you are not in the present. So, when you yell ouch when you touch the hot stove you are really remembering it and not meaningfully experiencing it. Does that mean it is illusionary? hmmm . . . Do we live in shadows of the mind? hmmm . . .
And, even a creative original thought prompted by the imagination and not from any sensory perception has to travel from one part of the brain to another, therefore is not in the present. For more on how creative thought is formed check out the link for a brief article. When reading it think about those poets and story tellers we know such as yourself.

Tim, I appreciate your insightful thoughts and observations. Thank you so much for sharing your fantastic ideas and the link to the article with me; it's all really very fascinating. Many people, including a few of my friends, dislike this concept of illusion; when I say things like that, they always think I've gone insane and am overthinking. Lol!
The ocean of reality is so huge that the farther we delve into it, the more we realize it becomes deeper and deeper. Reality, if it exists, is intriguing, and even if there is no reality, these delusions and illusions are mind-boggling.
Creativity is always mind-blowing and fascinating; I believe we are all creative because our minds are creative, full of thoughts and imagination, but not all of us utilize that creativity, or perhaps we all perceive it differently.
Glad you enjoyed this short poem. Have a wonderful weekend. Take care and enjoy!
Blessings always!
I enjoyed your philosophical poem, Misbah. It is well-composed and worth pondering. I have never thought of the existence of humans to be that way. But your articles rouses some interesting questions and insightfulness. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you, John, for sharing her article.
Rosina, thank you so much for your kind and generous comment. I'm so glad you enjoyed reading it and found it well composed and worth pondering.
I appreciate your very kind comments.
Wishing you a wonderful weekend!
Blessings and lots of Love!!
You've written about a fascinating topic. I suspect that reality (or at least its basis) may be very different from what it seems, We have no choice but to live with what seems real in our daily lives. Quantum mechanics is providing some strange ideas about the nature of reality, though.
Thank you so much, Linda, for your very kind and interesting comment. I am glad you enjoyed it. Much Gratitude, dear friend.
Yes, the scientists and researchers are doing some really excellent work, according to quantum mechanics, nothing fully exists until it is observed. And the act of observing alters what is observed. They are collecting massive amounts of data to validate the theory that how our thinking affects what happens to us and the world around us. It's all so fascinating. Like we say Negative thoughts, for example, cause us to see everything in a negative light, whereas positive energy attracts positive energy.
Have a great weekend.
Blessings and love as always!!
Loved your poem, Misbah. Even sometimes, I think life is illusion, it just a dream, temporary period. When we woke up, truth is different. I enjoyed reading your hub. That's a good start to my day. Thank you for sharing.
Thank John for sharing Misbah's article.
Misbah, I agree that this is a very thought provoking poem. You seem to be always analyzing life, and your poems reflect your deep thoughts.
I always enjoy what you write, and this poem is no exception. Thank you for sharing everything this article.
Love and many blessings!
Thank you John for posting. Misbah's article.
Pamela, I greatly appreciate your warm remarks. Thank you so much for your love and appreciation. I'm pleased to know that you enjoy reading my work. May God continue to bless you abundantly!
Keep smiling and stay safe!
Have a lovely weekend and a wonderful day ahead!
Many blessings and lots of love, as well as smiles.
A fascinating journey inside of your thoughts, Misbah! I love philosophical discussions such as this one, and I would probably not like anyone who does not have them. It is man's nature to inquire, to push boundaries, and to be amazed by the complexities of life. You would have done fine in our discussions back during college days. We could spend an entire evening discussing reality.
Blessings to you always
Sir, that is a lovely remark. Your wonderful thoughts brightened my day. I, too, like philosophical discussions sometimes. Life is all about exploring and discovering reality, but life is too small, as is the human brain, to learn the truth of reality; all I love to say is that it is all an illusion. I make philosophical ideas in evening with tea and cookies, and you are always welcome to join. Who wouldn't like to spend an entire evening discussing reality with a wise friend like you?
Take care and stay safe! Wishing you a happy weekend!
Sending Blessings to you and your family!
You are a deep thinker, Misbah. It would be fun to get into philosophical discussions over tea with you. Thanks John for sharing her latest piece about existence being an illusion.
This is so sweet of you, Peggy. Thank you so much for your love and encouragement. I'd love to have philosophical discussions with you over tea someday. You are always welcome dear friend. Your kindness is greatly appreciated.
Much Gratitude !
Blessings and lots of love!!
