A wonderful tribute with touching words, Farah. The events of 1971 changed the face of the subcontinent and gave birth to a brand-new country. The below lines are my favorite. They provide a whole new definition of a fight without arms.

These friends did not fight this war with arms.

With love, they plucked a tune on a sitar,

They fought the battle from a distant land

By strumming on their fond guitar.

Thanks for sharing this inspiring piece of work. You are a gifted poet.

Farah, you already know how much I love this. The poem is simply amazing and I am blown away with how it sounds when recited by Alan with the musical accompaniment. I am so proud of you. Well done.
Thank you for sharing this, Ravi.

Wow, a new photo! You look great, John! Yes, you have always been so supportive and generous to me from my very first day at HubPages. Thank you so much for showering this kindness on me. If it wasn’t for this encouragement I would’ve left writing at that very point. A little encouragement can go a long way! My blessings to you as always!

Fantastic poetry commemorating the Independence of Bangladesh in 1971. I loved the recitation in Alan's voice and loved the documentary too. This was certainly an engaging piece. Great job. Thank you for sharing, Farah.

Thank you, Ravi, for sharing her post.

I am delighted to know you liked it Surovi! This is the poem that The Late Steven Lester Carr selected for the book “Stories and Poems in the Song of Life” available on Amazon. (May his soul rest in eternal peace). This also won a contest held by SweetyCat Press and got included in the book “Jewel in the Queen’s Crown” also available on Amazon. I am glad to have been able to pay my tribute to these wonderful iconic artists through a poem that also speaks of our bold history. Mr. Alan Johnson was very kind to have given his beautiful voice to my words. I am truly touched by the support from everyone around me. Stay blessed dear and share it with your family if you wish  and let me what they think of it, please.

Farah, I am sorry I didn't get back to you earlier. I have tried my close family members to listen to and read your poetry. My mom said she wasn't fluent in English while my brother, although from English medium, said he didn't understand poetry. They are my immediate family but they couldn't be convinced. LOL!

You have created a lovely tribute to your country and to the people who have supported you, Farah. I hope Bangladesh has a great future.

Thank you so much, dear Linda, for your supportive words! The concert photos have a separate area in our national museum. We remember that concert as a part of our very own history. Bangladesh has gone a long way since then, though, yes, it does have much scope for improvement. That’s why we stayed back instead of migrating to a different country. We hope to see a better future for our country. Thank you once again for your support and appreciation. Much love and blessings to you

    Hello Farah!
Your article took me back to those times. I was in school in 1971, but very clearly remember that part of history, of this subcontinent.
Well thought of and well expressed, and I enjoyed reading it.
Beautiful tribute to your country and my best wishes to you and the people of your country.
Thank you for sharing. Many thanks for mentioning my name. It’s my pleasure to interact with you.
Thank you Raviji for sharing Farah’s post.

    Farah...
    This tribute is awesome.

I personally love George Harrison & his performances.

This sounds like it will always be a concert to remember. A new beginning to celebrate for years to come...even if you were not there to see it yourself.

Alan did a wonderful job narrating this on a video for you.

I'm so glad Steve Carr picked this one to include in the book.

It is Immortal now...much like you.

Great work and I'm sure your country is proud of your words.

Oh, Brenda! Thank you so much for such lovely words! Yes, I am grateful to both Mr. Alan Johnson and the late Me. Steven Lester Carr for their kindness and support. I truly miss Mr. Steve and the emails I got on a new book release from SweetyCat Press. They gave me something to look forward to. May his soul rest in peace. Mr. Alan Johnson is a master in recitation. He did such extraordinary work with the recitation and the video that it left me in awe! As for my friends here, well, most don’t even know that I write lol. Those who noticed were shocked to know it was a poem written by me...that includes my brother! Haha, Some didn’t even notice that it was my name written there and they put a like thinking it was just a good poem on our country. So it was a surprise for many and yes, everyone praised it. They wrote that it made them proud. What more can I ask for? Thank you so much once again, Brenda! I am so happy to know you liked it.
For those of you who haven’t heard the recitation, it is attached to the hub but for a quick view, here is the link again:

Lol... Oh! Don’t worry about it...Not everyone enjoys poetry... And not all poems appeal to everyone...So, I can understand this completely! Even I don’t ask others to read. I don't tag anyone either. I just post it and whoever wants to read just reads. So it is absolutely fine dear. I am happy to know you actually asked them lol...That’s so sweet of you! Much love and blessings to you, dear Surovi!
