An interesting article Jodah that reflects on poets with their uncanny ability to share concepts somewhat cryptically. Not in the sense to fool the reader, yet to offer the 'aha' experience through the discovery process of introspection. To do that the writer is demonstrating intelligence. Your Acrostic poem is an example. Well done in my mind.

Adding to, something to consider is Emotional Intelligence with its Emotional Quotient (EQ). PschCentral says; "Intelligence, in the general sense, is the ability to learn new concepts and apply your knowledge to problems. Emotional intelligence (EQ) is similar. (The following is 'key' for creative writers) It’s the ability to learn about yourself and apply that wisdom to the world around you. Creative writers are driven to share their discoveries with the world not selfishly, but selflessly in my mind, though do seek recompense at times.

Take the following quiz on Emotional Intelligence by Greater Good Magazine of Berkeley University, California for a learning experience of the 'Self'.

Another concept is from the research by Howard Gardner and his theory of Multiple Intelligences. Basically people may have one or more intelligence in a different category of eight that comes naturally other than traditional intelligence of cognition.

For instance an athlete especially a professional one probably rates high in Bodily-Kinesthetic vs. a creative writer being in the category of 'Linguistic' maybe combined with 'Interpersonal or Intra-personal'.

Following is a quiz to determine your intelligences by the Government of Alberta, Canada. Takes about 10 to maybe 15 minutes. It will point out the three highest intelligences followed by short descriptors about them. Enjoy!

A very interesting article John. It is good to know the difference of Intelligence and IQ. I don’t know what rank I am in. I like  the acrostic poem.

      Thank you for sharing Chitrangada.

    Hello John,
Excellent explanation of the two terms Intelligence and I Q.
As I read through, I realised the distinct meanings. Interesting list of celebrities with high I Q, and general abilities of intelligence.
Thank you for the education and enlightenment through this well thought of article.

    Hey John...
I have absolutely no idea where I rank...probably not as high as others.
And if it is a timed test...I'd probably be nervous and not mark it right.

    Loved your Acrostic poem.

    Great write.

This is an interesting article, John. It is good to understand the difference between IQ and intelligence. I don't know where I stand either. The Acrostic poem was great.

Thank you for posting John's article, Chhitrangada.

I am glad you found this interesting, Pamela. Maybe We should have our IQ tested, though I have a feeling I wouldn't do well.

This one is really a great article discussing the difference between Intelligence and IQ. I enjoyed it, John.

The IQ tests do not reveal the entire wisdom of people though they are time and again used by judges to measure the merit of participants. And, I do not exactly believe in such tests.

This article clearly mentions the drawbacks of such IQ tests. I appreciate you, John.

And, thanks Chitrangada, for posting this article on thread so as to enable us to comment on this.

Wonderful John. High IQ can never be a person's absolute measure of intelligence as it depends on subjective and empirical factors. I loved the excellent acrostic poem at the end. This is quite a different article from you, John. Great write.

Thanks, Chitrangada, for sharing John's article.

Wonderful article John, very well written. People always think IQ and intelligence are the same. You have clearly differentiated the two. Genes do play an important role in a person's intelligence as much as other factors. Further application of intelligence in real life situations, along with presence of mind and, observation are important to be successful in life, I feel.

Thank you for reading and offering your insights, Vidya. Unfortunately the article has been unpublished and blocked due to being flagged as “AI generated or having links to AI generated content.”

  12. Jodah profile image92

This was flagged as using AI and blocked. I admit to using Bing AI for obtaining the original descriptions of Intelligence vs IQ, but changed the wording, and added a lot of extra information about the IQ ratings, the celebrities with the highest IQs, as well as the acrostic poem. I doubt I will try to make any more changes. I will probably just publish it elsewhere.

I've never tried using it and now I doubt that I will.

You did too much work ...just to have it unpublished.

After this, I advise against it, Brenda, especially for here. I thought it would be okay to use it for the original idea and information but change wording and add a lot more additional content, but obviously not. The message in red at the top of the article said it was “unrecoverable” meaning even if I changed the article it wouldn’t be published.

This is sad. I feel sorry to read this, John.
For writing on such topics, one has to refer to some online sources, for definition, latest developments etc. That should not lead to flagging off the articles.

I agree, Chitrangada, and Bing is a search engine … only now it asks you what you want it to do. I understand the need to flag articles that are written in their entirity by AI, but I think HP’s attitude is too strict.
