November 1st Deadline for Filing to Run In South Carolina

The Republican Party has been engaged in a shell game of late. They have been throwing all these red herring candidates up to pretend to run for the GOP nomination but we will not really know who is running until November 2, 2011. Because November 1st is the last day to file to run for a Presidential candidate to file to run in South Carolina. I doubt the GOP realizes how dangerous their game is. They truly risk clouding their own parties' message by having all of these red herrings putting messages out that may not have anything to GOP policies.

And what is missing from GOP candidates is a an actual plan. GOP candidates seem to be able to say, "No" but they are unable to tell the American people what substantively different policy they would have then Barack Obama. This is very dangerous as Barack Obama, a Democrat, has not provided a substantively different leadership then George Bush. So as a country the United States, having a GOP candidates that can't even outline substantively different policies from the Obama administration and the Bush administration, run dangerous risk of being labeled more of the same.

To me it would seem that if Barack Obama has done such a horrible job as the GOP claims, then there would be no need for this shell game of red herring candidates for the GOP ticket. The GOP should be able to just put their candidate out there and let him run on substantive issues. And yet that hasn't happened but instead we get more games from the political parties as usual. Haven't they figured out America is sick of political parties so sophisticated they can't bunch their way out of a wet paper bag. We desperately need real leadership. We need someone who can play it straight and speak to the substantive issues concerning the American people.

Either way I think we can assume that November 1st is the last day for a Republican Presidential Candidate can file to run in South Carolina. I am working under the hypothesis that Mitt Romney is running for president with JEB as his running mate which means we will not know JEB is running for vice president until the very last minute. I would think the GOP is playing this shell game because they are trying to obscure the fact that yet again another Bush is on the ticket which may be deal breaker for a GOP presidential win.

Given the level of political theater this election cycle one has to wonder if there is actually a Presidential election race at all or if it is a pretermined race in which the Amerian people must just endure.

Link Between JEB and Mitt

It would seem clear that JEB and Mitt are close since JEB offered to help Mitt in 2008. So it isn't a leap that Mitt will appoint JEB as his vice presidential nomination. If Mitt does this it will cost him the election. This maybe the first time in American Political History in which the Vice Presidential Nomination will determine the outcome of an election instead of the Presidential Nominations.
