I think a better question is why are there people out there using such inflamatory and divisive language? We're all Americans, there's no need to word something like this in a clear "us" vs "them" mentality. I don't think there are a lot of Americans that HATE America, there's just Americans that believe there could be improvements made upon it (and what country is so perfect no one complains about anything.... oh yeah, none of them.) And then there are Americans that would rather stick to blind patriotism, claim everything is just perfect the way it is, and would rather point their fingers at the "haters" as being unAmerican. It doesn't work like that - never has. If you really think about being proud enough to want to improve your country is probably a healthier expression of patriotism than starting petty squabbles on who wuvs America mooore.

Maybe because they feel that they are being overwhelmed by immigrants and foreigners who work there not realizing that white Americans invaded the country from the natives, yeah, they are that self-centered.

i think money place a major factor into that. its not so easy to just leave to another county. especially if that requires learning another language. also i think its fine to hate a lot of things about it and still think its better off than others. that something i hear a lot. that we are so much better off than other countries. which is true. but just because i choose to eat mud over crap, doesnt mean i enjoy the mud. there are still many things to complain about here. our gov (or any gov in my view) and or greedy culture are my 2 least favourite things about this county. yes we are better off than other. we are not however the most free country.

Quite frankly, I pay the naysayers no attention for precisely the reasons that you stated, they're still here!  I once had a Jamaican schoolmate who hemmed, hawed and complained incessantly about America and its excesses.  She talked up Jamaica like we Americans should prefer to live in such a place as that. I asked her when she was going back to live there and all I heard were crickets. Don't get me wrong, but if you choose to live second or third rate just to be able to pick a fruit off the tree and eat it whenever you want, fine, move to Jamaica! (My grandma had a pear tree in her backyard and we're from New Jersey!)  Honestly, I'd rather live poor here than in that squalid island country. Plus, being LGBT in Jamaica is like having a death wish, so I KNOW I ain't goin' there...not even for a vacation!  Seriously, the greatest thing about America is our freedom to complain about it.  That's why I love it so much!  (smile)

America is not a hard place to figure out. It has two groups of people: Ignorant conservatives that think Jesus will solve all of their problems, and educated freethinkers that know that all we have is each other. America is very isolated. We're not part of the commonwealth. Canadian citizens just north can get a job in England, South Africa, Australia, New Zealand...the list goes on. As an American, if you told me I could move to Australia tomorrow...yes please.  As sad is it sounds, we were founded by ignorant and scary religious fanatics and we are now run by them. The most recent Supreme Court case around Hobby Lobby sealed the deal for me. America is the Christian Iran. We are now run by ignorant religious fundamentalists. There are so many smart people here. But unfortunately we're outnumbered by dumb conservatives that hate progress, hate science, and hate open thought. For those foreigners that "love" America...move somewhere besides east coast, west coast or Chicago. Move to Des Moines, Birmingham, Salt Lake City, or or Biloxi.  We have a handful of educated, progressive cities but the majority of America is dumbasses. And they outnumber the educated. Canada (our neighbor up north) is so much better in every way (regardless of what ignorant Americans that have only been to Niagara Falls say about healthcare).  America is huge and has been surviving on our abundant natural resources. But those don't last forever. We are the MySpace of countries. Congrats, America: You were the first country to create democracy and freedom. That was almost 250 years ago. Aside from abolishing slavery there has been minimal evolution (bad word in America!) since.  Religious morons migrated here by the millions and procreated. You are welcome Europe. We let your religious outcasts come here. Now we are just as fundamentalist as Iraq. Sure there are cities like NYC, DC, Chicago, Miami, Chicago, LA, San Fran and Seattle. But in between there are morons. And they are running the asylum. So while progressive countries like Australia, NZ, Sweden, Norway and Uruguay are moving forward, we are moving backward. Please don't move to NYC from England and talk about how great America is. Move to Mississippi. Or Georgia. Or Oklahoma. Or Iowa. Or Wyoming. Or South Carolina. Or Alabama. Or Texas. We are a country full of ass-backwards people on the wrong side of history. I would love to leave. Please give me a permanent visa to [insert any country here]. Oh wait, the world hates us

The wording of your question is deceitful. The vast majority of people who complain about how things are do not "hate America." They may hate the direction the country is going or certain political actions and trends, but the majority does not hate America itself. Your question of "why don't they just leave" is an immature jab at those whom you consider anti-American.

Those who truly "hate America" are those who are seeking to fundamentally transform her from a free, independent powerhouse into a European slave state. After all, if they love the basic principles on which America was founded, why totally change that?

America is the best country in the world, and still the truth of the matter is that there are a lot of injustices and inequalities here. The super-rich keep getting richer and controlling the pocket books of the poor. Health care and insurance are still hard for the common man to afford, junk food is so much cheaper than good food and financial assistance is harder to obtain and more expensive for those who need it most.
The fact that values have been replaced by sensationalism and half truths, and that we are not exposed to knowledge as we should be. Yes I know that we have access to knowledge if we seek, but we also have access to sensationalized nonsense as well. Why isn't the knowledge pushed like the nonsense? Why is it that the "real news" stations are no different than the tabloid style news outlets? More importantly why do we allow it? I digress.
Having said all that I return to my initial statement; America is the greatest nation on earth, therefore leaving here would be a step in the wrong direction. Where there is injustices here that may keep one from  living the dream, somewhere else the dream rapidly, completely and devastatingly becomes a nightmare manifested in reality. I sincerely doubt that any one living in the USA really hates it or wants to live anywhere else, we just want to see it get better. I hope that helps a little.

Also, an American living and working in another country will get taxed on income not only by their host country, but also by the IRS.  America is the ONLY country in the world that does this.

I will be leaving America, and immediately renouncing my citizenship when I do.

I will not presume that I speak for many, only myself. I believe that America has devolved into a fascist state. I despise the way the powerful elite seem to run everything and the poverty stricken just live off the government. I realize that statement sounds somewhat contradictory, but it is the fascist presence that I despise the most. Trust me, if I had the money and means to leave, I would. It's way more complicated than asking "why don't they just leave?" Most Americans do not have the resources to carry this out, and in order to try to maintain sanity, they try to find a way to deal with it.
The corporate-fascist state contributes to this mentality by economic oppression. Those who are unemployed but employable cannot find decent jobs. Education is important, but many are finding that a quality education costs money. Money that they do not have and cannot pay back on a student loan. Those that do qualify for student loans find themselves trapped because the cost of education in this country is astronomical, and when they get out in the work force, they discover they owe 10-20 years to the government worth hundreds of thousands of dollars. The situation is sad. Many of us are trapped, and many believe that Amerika is the least of all the evils in the world. So, please, try to understand that the question you ask cannot have as simple an answer.

This country is a terribly corrupt place (most countries are) The 0.01% owns 70 trillion and our public owns 20. We have the money to fix poverty with just 0.5% of the 0.01% money. We can fix every world problem EVER with what we have but it is kept in the hands of people who literally couldn't spend that money in a lifetime. These "elite" people bride our government and basically are the government. The government doesn't care if you die, that's the last thing they are concerned about. The only this they want is for you to listen to them and create "order". This " order" is basically defined as a bunch of half-baked morons as Terence McKenna would say. This order is created by culture which is generated by mass media. Guess who controls mass media THE BIG CORPERAT COMPANIES THAT OWN ALL OF OUR MONEY.

How does this happen you ask? How am I not aware of this? Plenty of thing play into this from the fluoride in your water to of course Facebook and twitter. Our spiritual selves/original consciousness is lost when we go through the judgmental eye of society. This is where the ego comes into play. The ego is basically a disease that is very self conscious and feels the need for satisfaction. So we twist ourselves until we fit the exceedingly narrow amount of acceptable thinking which is known as the spectrum of thinkable thought. If you hadn't already dismissed this as conspiracy theory because there is so much to know about this and I have basically made a blabber of summaries to this epidemic I suggest you read about flourides effect on the pineal gland and hear the ideas of philosophers like Terence McKenna, Timothy Leary, Ram Dass, and don't forget Noam Chomsky. And as to why don't they just leave. That would basically require disconnecting yourself from all of everything one knows. That's not necessarily a negative thing but it is extremely hard for most people to just upright and leave.

You will find plenty of answers in a movie named, "America: Imagine the World Without Her."  In this movie you will hear people talk about why they want America to be revolutionized because they hate it.  Then, you will hear explanations that refute those reasons.  It is very eye-opening, in my opinion.  Everyone should see this movie and be aware that we may have actual enemies living in our country.  It also answers the question as to why some of them won't stop living here.  I found this movie on Netflix.

I agree with many of the others who have commented. I don't think there are that many people who actually hate America. I believe some people are upset or disappointed with the current political direction or the problems within government. A beautiful thing about being an American is that we have freedom of speech and when something upsets us, we can have a voice. Some people abuse this and are overly negative, but that is their choice to make. Personally, I think with very few exceptions, Americans like being Americans.

Your question can be answered in time from living in America... However I will try to relate living experience (fact) rather than theory (un-experience).

Why people hate America is a question that has thousands of answers based on each individuals life experiences and the negative results to them. Such as Hatred due to Criminal politicians, criminal judges & prosecutors, criminal businesses, criminal doctors just to name a few criminal aspects for hating America.

Why people don't leave America is they can not earn enough to leave. Bottom line on this question is America is a financial trap (pay rates, loan rates, health care cost, transportation rates and much more).

The American dream is just that - a dream; a wild or vain fancy -> unreal, farce, fairytale.

America is a nation that has sold its people (and each other) out in a circle of lies for money and positions of power that have led to abusive situations for the masses and bread hatred.

Before getting to the heart of your question, it is necessary to decide whether you mean those who truly hate America, or just those who have reason to criticize it.

I have known many people who have been deemed "haters" of America because they justifiable criticize things such the substandard level of healthcare available in the US. After all, it is the worst of any developed country in the world (ranking lower than Saudi Arabia by WHO!).

From my own personal perspective, I can say that I am not a "hater" of America, for that would imply it consumes my every thought. It doesn't. However, I do not agree with the mentality of the country's institutions, media and companies. So, I have left the US, and now live in Europe with my British fiancée. A move of this sort, I appreciate, is not always an option for many who share my concerns about America. There could be financial, practical or familial constraints, to name just a few.

Therefore, to answer your question as simply as possible: "haters" of America do not leave because either they have a desire to improve America, or because it is simply impossible or very difficult to do so.

Actually, you're seeing the largest group of amerikans leaving the country than ever before.
It's in the 1.000's, but more people are fleeing because they're sick of the idiocy in the USSA - united socialist states of america.
To long of a list to explain why other places are better to live. The USSA is number 15 on the "happy places to live in the world index".
To assume that your view of the USSA is the right one, that you love being spied on by your own government, is a pretty broad assumption.
Many people in Germany thought Hitler was a great leader in his prime.
Stalin was going to save Russia.
Mao was going to "free" the masses.
To think that you love a government that allows banks to commit fraud, money laundering, rigging markets and a vast array of other things with not ONE bank executive going to jail, shows your innept understanding of the rule of law.
To love a country that bases it's "marketing" of new laws on lies, shows your lack of understanding of the guiding principles of the constitution.
Those who "love" this country, love socialism, marxism, and fascism. Plain and simple.
Because this is what we've evolved into, though this was not the basic concept of the country.
We who fight for the constitution, fight for freedom.
To love a government that's negated the basic concepts of our country, is no different than loving those that flew the planes into the World Trade Center and the Pentagon.
To love a country that is taking away your freedoms, slowly but surely,is done only by those who lack the intelligence to see how corrupt America is.
It's people like yourself that are an extreme danger to anyones freedom that lives in amerika, because you don't understand the basic concept of being a free man.
Read history, get rid of your blindness called "patriotism", and maybe, just maybe, you'll begin to understand those that "hate" the disgusting situation called Washington, D.C.
    Cheers

I think that groups like the Occupy Wall Street crowd, and some of these marxist, Cloward and Piven types, are being very hypocritical when it comes to their complaints about capitalism.  These people carry around their Ipads, Iphones, bluetooth devices, GPS navigation, and then have the audacity, to say that capitalism doesn't work?  This type of thinking, just highlights their ignorance, and stupidity, further proving that they represent the modern day "useful idiots", that Vladimir Lenin used to speak of, when speaking of Communism.

Sometimes the people who complain the loudest are the one's who love America the most.

I think the widening gap between rich and poor is one of the reasons. Young people go to college, grad school, and still can't find a decent job. But celebrities such as the Kardashians, who contribute nothing to society, make money hand over fist. When I was a kid, the wealthiest ones in the community were doctors. Yes, they made good money but nobody begrudged them that because they worked hard to get there. They were admired. Now many doctors are struggling financially and wonder if it was worth all the effort and sacrifice. There's such little respect for the professions that once had it -- teachers, police officers, stay at home moms.

The answer lies in the leftist religion in America. Many Leftist's , liberals or progressives, see America as illegitimate. They believe the wealth its acquired has been at the expense of the rest of the world. They see the nations Christian underpinnings as a source of bigotry and racism.

Progressivism runs contrary to America's true roots, it favors group rights over individual liberties, it opposes true Christianity and replaces it with a worship of the state, see's rights as a gift of the state and not a  God given and inalienable, believes in a government run by elite scientifically trained expects rather than a government of the people and by the people.

The left holds a militant secular world view whereas the founders held to a Christian worldview, I believe this is the main source of conflict between those who hate the true America and desire the change its essence.

As to why they don't just leave, i guess they have just enough of a sense of reality to know that's just not a good idea. They've gotten away with biting the hand that feeds them for years, ironically if they fully got there way they'd kill the goose that lays the golden eggs that they've enjoyed for so long.

Motherland is motherland and  any patriotic citizen will love the motherland though he or she may not like the governance which can be changed with the ballot paper. Hello TheWorldNow, I don't think that most Americans (99.9%) born here hate America. I think that a lot of people who come here from other countries are programed to live in a country like the one they have left and want to change America to the kind of country they left behind. But I would not call these people Americans.
Also a lot of Americans are led to believe that our government is too big (i.e. the G.O.P.) and they want to shut down some of the entities, like the USPS, IRS, Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, and cut our military in other words they want to throw a monkey wrench into the well running machines, without a second thought of how this country would survive with these entities closed.

I love America and can't think of anyone I know who does not feel the same.   We are free to speak our minds of course and that includes certain things we may not be happy with or simply of which we may not agree.  This is exercising our right to free speech.  As thinking adults, we all have opinions and this separates us from a good part of the rest of the world who are oppressed & silenced.

There can't be any place in this vast world of ours where everyone is completely satisfied with everything.  Human nature makes us very diverse individuals.

It's unfortunate you seem to know an inordinate number of people whom you claim, "hate everything about America."  If you feel the need to ask them why they "don't just leave,"~~ then ASK them.  You may be surprised with their responses.  IMHO, often these dissatisfied people are merely venting.

While I'm sure there are other lovely places to live, I personally cannot imagine being happy or comfortable living anywhere but "HOME."

I think many new comers have a difficult time adapting and settling in, some may also have ties to their old country and customs and this prevents them from truly experiencing the best that America has to offer.  This sometimes leads to frustration, feelings of "Oh I deserve more from this country".
Some people just love to be unhappy with everything - you place them in Europe, they'll hate it too.

Essentially we are now a very thankless society, with no sense of gratitude for what we have; as a result we love to hate the very country that feeds us and derive a perverse pleasure when things go wrong for America.

We hate America because most Americans are stupid. We can't leave because everyone knows we're stupid and won't take us.

    Not really.

I don't hate America, but the government is flawed. The reason I don't leave is because the government is flawed everywhere else too.

Idiotic things Americans do - like stomping on the American flag - is a clear sign that they hate America.
Would someone stomping on the rainbow flag that gays seemingly always march under not be considered an act of hate against gays? Would people still be excusing that behavior claiming it was just a protest against how gays conduct themselves?
Americans have had a good life for so long that every other person claims to be living under 'oppression' - people like that would not last a minute whining like babies in most other countries.
Yes, too many Americans hate America, and organizations like BlackLivesMatter and Nation of Islam allow that hate to fester because they profit from the violence and more hate that results.

I believe that they suffer from the old-age malady of thinking that the grass is greener on the other side of the fence. Such Americans don't appreciate what they've got, and I hope it wont take them losing it to wake them up from such stupidity.
Remember, almost every other citizen of countries outside the US would give anything to live in America.
How about they pay a visit to such areas as Iraq, Russia and Central African Republic...

Well people would like to say that hate their country but in their heart they were just hoping that someone would show them how & why to love their country. They just want to improve their country, make it the best.

As I said above no one hate their country in their heart so why should  they leave their own country which is their own home.

Just because you are disappointed in your country, you don't just up and leave. (not that would be easy to just go somewhere else anyway, but that's another topic)

You stay, you influence the change you want to see, you fight it out, stand up, and try to make it better until you just can't do it anymore, and then you try again tomorrow.

I think the United States is the world leader in tolerating ignorant foreign malcontents who want to come onto our forums and say negative things about the United States and its citizens.

These are people with empty lives who are making a desperate attempt to give their existence meaning and purpose.  They attack the United States because it is easier than looking at themselves and their own countries.

The more these people rant, the more I laugh.

Maybe they should spend more time improving their own lives and their own countries rather than criticizing the United States.  I'm sure with some honest effort they could find meaning and purpose for their lives in their own nations.

I will just have to say when it comes to tolerating the stupid rants of ignorant foreign malcontents against America and her citizens, it is one more situation where the United States is leading the world.

I am sure glad we have people like Tess to enlighten us about the situation in the United States and the world history.

See, I thought the problem on our southern border involved tens of thousands of people from other countries illegally storming our borders, flaunting our laws and becoming a drain on our social safety net.

      Tess really set me straight.

"The events in Germany between 1933 and 1936 parallel what is happening in the United States of America now."

I had no idea that between 1933 and 1936 there were tens of thousands of Jews from other countries trying to illegally storm the border of Nazi Germany to enter their country and partake of the Nazi German social safety net.  I didn't know Nazi Germans had such a thing.  I'm glad Tess has enlightened me of this fact.  I would like to read more on it, but I just can't find any information on this aspect of Nazi Germany.

I suppose my lesson in world history was really lacking.

Now, I've traveled to quite a few countries.  Guess what?  When people illegally enter European countries, they are put in cages, until they are processed.  If you flaunt the immigration laws of Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Ukraine and others.  They put you in a cage.  I've seen them at international airports pointed out to me by a friend who worked there.  In Saudi Arabia a person with the company I was had a cross tattooed on his arm.  He was put in a cage and sent back on the next flight.  He never made it past customs.

So, I don't see the big deal about putting people who cross our boarder illegally into a cage.  It's done all over the world.

Sharlee, you can't make this stuff up.

What kind of mind equates tens of thousands of people from other countries trying to illegally enter the United States to Nazi Germany's genocide of its own citizens?

I have people from other countries complain to me about what is happening on our southern border.  I ask them what their country would do in the same situation.  Australia, New Zealand, England are islands.  They don't have this problem.  My wife's sister lives in Australia, they are VERY serious about their immigration in that country.

What country in the world, other than the United States, has tens of thousands of people from other countries try and swarm its border?  I would like to know how other countries handled it, but there is no other country with such a problem.  This a unique American problem.

So, when people from other countries criticize us for it, I have to wonder how their country would handle such a problem.  Lucky for them, they will probably never experience such a thing.

              'Ignorant yet again'

Bangladeshis and India at one time were one country.

In the United States, people come illegally from many different countries that have never been part of the United States.  A BIG difference.

Hundreds of thousands of Syrians were INVITED into the European Union countries.  They didn't go their illegally.  I hope you can comprehend the difference.

Now, stick with me, tens of thousands at ONE time.  Not over a period of time, all at once.

It appears India is trying to build a wall to end their problems with Bangaladeshis.

              https://www.globalsecurity.org/military … -fence.htm

"As of 23 December 2015 the Government had sanctioned barbed wire fencing of 3326.14 km along the Indo-Bangladesh border. Out of this, 2708.77 km of fencing had been completed. The target for completion of the project was by March 2019. The Government has also sanctioned barbed wire fencing of 2071.42 km along the Indo-Pakistan border. Out of this, fencing of 1986.98 km had been completed and balance is in progress. The balance work in the State of Gujarat may take about 36 months for completion in feasible areas depending on the climatic conditions."

It also seems as if there they don't process illegal border crossers.  They shoot them.

"According to BGB figures, 936 Bangladeshis were killed between 2001 and 2017, by the BSF and Indian nationals. Of them, the BSF killed 767 Bangladeshis.
Since the Awami League came to power, 67 Bangladeshis were killed along the border in 2009. The figure was 60 in 2010, 39 in 2011, 34 in 2012, 28 in 2013, 40 in 2014, 45 in 2015, 31 in 2016 and 21 until December 21 last year."

              https://www.dhakatribune.com/bangladesh … ot-stopped

So, maybe people who illegally cross into the United State illegally are treated a bit better.  Again, you are in no position to judge the United States.

              1. lobobrandon profile image67
lobobrandonposted 5 years agoin reply to this

If you took the time to continue reading you would see those are killings based on smuggling deals. These are not people looking to cross the border to come and live in India.

Also, India, Pakistan, and Bangladesh were never one country. Not once in recorded history. There were always many princely states. The British took over many and had their empire with many kings only paying tribute not more. While the British left the parts that they had captured were given back to India and many princely states continued to stay independant. A famous case is the princely state of Jammu and Kashmir whose ruler wanted to join India and the people wanted to join Pakistan and till this day it remains a conflicted zone.

                History lesson fail.

Again, I am in a position to judge the US because they are the ones that wreaked havoc in most of Central America and other parts of the world and this is a huge reason for the instability in the reason and the mass exodus of refugees. They are also the ones that tried to stop India from helping out Bangaladesh due to selfish interests. When India does something like this to the US you can talk about India.

Oh, please tell me about Hungary.  I was there when the Muslim immigrant and Syrians arrived in 2015.

"Hungary’s populist Prime Minister Viktor Orban has called mass immigration from the Middle East and Africa an existential threat to the European way of life."

"Border patrols prevent hundreds of crossings every day and catch migrants who make it into Hungary within the first few miles of the border, according to authorities."

Very similar to what is happening in the United States.  The only difference is their crisis ended in 2015.

And in what country do many citizens not see what is causing our immigration problems and overcrowding at our border facilities.? Instead of working on solutions many choose hysteria and playing the blame game, and even making dire predictions that make no sense at all.

We are spending tax dollars on migrants actually making every attempt to accept these people, and still, we have some Americans screaming we just are not doing a good job. Yet offering no solutions.
