This is posted in hopes of being able to further investigate this phenomena and know exactly why it is occurring more frequently, or at least being reported more frequently. If this has happened to you, please share your experience with everyone. You may want to learn more on this subject by visiting one of Team Wisemans article called Mysterious Scratches. These scratches appear from nowhere and are usually three thin scratch marks. Team Wiseman
Let's see, 3 thin scratch marks....People do scratch themselves in their sleep, but this appears to me, that those people who claim to have 3 thin scratch marks when they wake up, must own a pet...Puppies, and kittens will leave scratch marks on a person, every time....Or an adault cat...
It's funny how believers are adamant you can never get something from nothing? Curious.
Hmmm...
Team Wiseman,
Can you supply a couple of "accounts" of this phenomena?
I've been following through the thread and there is some side-tracking - on to "demon possession" and things but what I'm interested in is JUST incidents that have been reported on this scratching phenomena.
LATE REPLY:
There is an article called Mysterious Scratches on my Body, there is a lot to learn in that article.
I kno smone who got these scratches frm no wher n when I looked at it there were only 2 thin scratches......................she told me that it was mid night n she was listening to music while her sis was studyin in the same room n suddenly she heard whispering noises n saw sm1 going to da kitchen n whwn she went there no1 was there .Just as she walked out she heard them again n then the water tap opened but she closed it without hesitation .later when she came to the room she felt as sm1 was looking into the window n the lights went out .Just then her laptop screen shut itself n a glass fell from the table .they both ran to another room n slept n in the morning they both had the same scratches on them...............................can you tell me wat is this im really worried.
You wouldn't believe you if I told you but you can search for the Truth yourself by Googling "The Truth about Crystal Meth, Witchcraft and Demons" or "Mysterious Scratches on my Body". The Truth and answer is available, even a cure! God Bless
If you wake up in the morning with mysterious scratches, it's probably due to the medical conditions Bartonella or Scabies. You should see a dermatologist.
I have the exact same thing. It's been bothering me for years, not knowing. Just got it diagnosed: it's the Herpes virus! Different strain than what causes cold sores on lips, but same virus. Sometimes appears as a rash somewhere on the body. Usually brought on by stress. Nothing you can do about it, except reduce stress in your life, or get an over-the-counter herpes medication to cut the healing time down by a few days. So happy I finally know what it is- people have been blaming my cat for years, but I knew it wasn't him.
People scratch in their sleep. Sometimes they leave a mark... Quite logical really.
Scratching yourself in your sleep. Your partner may scratch you in their sleep accidentally. If you're awake it's just a scratch you didn't know you received at the time it happened. Has happened to me plenty.
I have scars on my face from a cat. Actually, I also have a scar from a dog on my lip too... it really is a phenomenon!
It mystifies me that this is a religious topic. Or are we talking some invisible being that is scratching its way into our lives?
Yes it is opening hells gateway through a Universal porthole and scratching faces. ZOMG!!! tooo funny.
I get a lot of these types of questions on my dream interpretation website - fundamentalist Christians who think the devil is attacking them in their sleep. It's very sad that their minds have been so poisoned.
I had one woman who said she was locking her 4 year old in her bedroom every night because the girl saw green eyes in the window and mum was convinced this was a demon - not just a bad dream or a cat which would have been the more logical interpretation. What kind of mess is she making of that child's life!? Very worrying....
BTW - I often see my husband having a good scratch in his sleep - it's quite normal!
THANK YOU!!! I was going to say, every single day, hubby comes home from work with scratches. And at first I was all "who did that!!??!!??"
But really, if your itchy and busy you might scratch yourself absent mindedly. I never ever heard of this as a religous thing. I have heard of The Virgin Mary showing up in a sunbeam at a pizza place, but not this.
Tis are the ensigns of witchcraft...make ready the stake!!! burn them!!!
The culprit is usually my 10 month old daughter, but it might be Lilith.
Scratchy mattress can do it as well, and some people might end up falling asleep on a sharp object, which if flat won't stab them, but could cut/scratch them in their sleep.
I honestly dont know what it is...becuz i get such scratches...but all of u seem to have some explanation....i have no nails...cuz i bite them(bad habit)...not married...no husband or bf...no pets...sleep alone....so what is my explanation..cuz i cant seem to get it anywhere!!??? whether am at home or elsewhere it happens
The level of superstitious nonsense in these Hubpages forums never ceases to amaze me.
Then delete your account because nobody cares about your opinions
That one post has really been sticking in your craw for five months, huh?
5000 people a day may disagree with you. Thats how many people search for reasons there being scratched and are finding answers in the Article "Mysterious Scratches on My Body" and "The Truth about Crystal Meth, Witchcraft and Demons". Check them out sometime.
The lady in this report was attacked and bitten on her back by some invisible force.

20/20 would have to be about the least credible source I could think of. Has it not crossed your mind that they have a vested interest in promoting this bunk?
Better than the evidence (or can I say no evidence) you have provided to refute it.
No evidence needed, same as no evidence needed for not believing in god. Some things are simply self demonstrably bulldust.
(see why I don't stick around after my little blurbs about first hand experience?) I will say that if reasoning that something is not there for our inability to see it with our eyes, we should allow the thermographic footage taken by researchers in this field to be considered suitable proof. Or do we not believe in heat? what if the source of the heat touches the body on camera then immediately scratches appear? or will the adage remain... For the skeptic no proof is enough and for the believer none is needed?
It's about what it has always been about. fleecing the gullible.
You're almost right, but there is evidence found in the personal experiences of many people if you search "The Truth about Crystal Meth, Witchcraft and Demons" or "Mysterious Scratches on my Body"
In those comments are enough proof for me. Thank you for your comment
ok, let's say demons are real. that means they are very powerful beings, yes?
now, if they enter people's bodies, there would be no room for doubt when you looked at them. i watched that video. a possessed man screamed in a human voice, not a demonic voice. so did that "possessed" woman behind that door.
they were also able to be restrained...if an evil supernatural force was inhabiting their body, they would fling people across the room like matchsticks and speak in a voice that sounded like Joan Rivers talking through a mechanical voicebox or something.
plus their eyes would be all red and glowing. SOMEthing to let their malevolent presence be known.
these "possessed" people are either attention seekers or crazy, or both.
p.s. i woke up last week with a bunch of scratches on me...my shoulder, my arms and my clavicle. i thought 'hmm', then remembered that i had pruned a bougainvelia shrub the day before, which is very thorny, and i got scratched when i was pruning it but was so intent on my work i didn't even notice when i got scratched.
Well Cosette, there are different types of demons and some are stronger than others.
The Vatican exorcisms are not allowed to be recorded. However, you (or some expert) will have to watch hundreds of exorcisms until you run into a really nasty case.
For example, 7 demons possessed a 20 year old girl in Spain in the early 2000s. Father Jose Antonio Fortea began an exorcism and convinced 6 of the demons to leave. However, the chief demon Zebulon is the last one remaining. I believe he stated that out of all of the exorcisms, Zebulon has been involved in only 3 of them (that they know of) including one that the Chief Exorcist (who taught Father Fortea) was involved with.
"...Zebulon, an almost mute but very intelligent demon. His name is in the Bible."
Now this exorcism is extreme. Eyes rolling in the back of her head and staying there throughout the exorcism, levitation, hands appearing to turn into talons and hooks, the girl speaking with a strong male voice, mind reading, reciting of the bible word for word on command, providing answers to questions the girl would never know, and so on.
Below is a link to detailed accounts of this exorcism.
I emailed Father Fortea over the weekend asking for video of this exorcism (since he stated that one of the sessions were secretly recorded without his knowledge in another interview) and he responded and stated that Martha is still possessed almost 8 years later and the exorcisms continue.

Accurate details, But for me the names of these things are more than devices by which to refer to them, I do not utter them. Even if that makes me seem foolish or superstitious, there are things we do not understand and I for one believe that even the Known powers that are greater than us are quite dangerous. Some people who have experienced these kinds of things report illnesses all the rest of their lives. As well as re-possession cases resulting in death by fatigue. None for me thanks.
Demons are very real. They hide in dark places. When a man or owman is possessed by a demon, it isn't with red firey eyes. They don't always talk lots of unintelligble dialog. Some are very subtle when possessing a body.
There are times when scratches don't show up right away.
I agree SirDent. Per the chief Exorcist:
"Father Amorth told La Repubblica that the devil was "pure spirit, invisible. But he manifests himself with blasphemies and afflictions in the person he possesses. He can remain hidden, or speak in different languages, transform himself or appear to be agreeable. At times he makes fun of me."
Just curious, do you still check the closet and under the bed for monsters, SirDent?
I have cast them all out and they will not come back anymore because they know I will step all over them.
Now let's get serious for a moment. The recesses of your mind is where devils hide. You should have realized that is what I meant.
Serious? Considering that any answer you provide when it comes to your religion will be filled with magic and mystery, you can make claim to whatever you wish and you will believe despite the physical laws of the universe. Who knows what you'll claim next?
Knowledge? You mean belief.
I had to shut the bedroom door to keep my cat off my face at night. I'd wake up and he would be half an inch from my face purring ready to play. I was worried one night I'd wake up to a gentle swap across the face.
For me... scratches avoided... mystery solved.
For others... people will believe what they want to believe.
hmm
well you guys, this has certainly been interesting reading.
I think you missed my post where I said the scratches are from you.
that is impossible, since i don't have really long nails. i know that happened when i was trimming that shrub. it's got tons of very sharp thorns all over....
LOL It was just a joke. When I said scratches don't always show up rioght away, I meant when you do things sometimes you will get a scratch and not know it until the next day.
ah
well this proves that scratches aren't the result of some demonic attack, rather, they can come from anywhere and we are so unaware of them that when we do notice them we go 'hey, where did that come from?'...
It did not prove the scratches don't come from demons. it also doesn't prove they do. I only know what I know and in the hyears I have spent working in construction, I know a little about scratches.
It is possible, I suppose, that demons could cause scratches to appear. I have no real clue as to whether it is true or not.
why would anyone in their right mind assume scratches on their body are from a supernatural source?
What about multiple bite wounds on your back?
I have no idea really. Demons are not able to manifest themselves as humans. They can only manifest themselves through men. At least that is what my knowledge tells me.
For some people who are possessed, attacks from invisible forces, knocking over of furniture, loud banging noises, and so on served as precursors to these events.
I have not experienced anything like this. Likewise, I will not refute others' (who were cleared medically) claims to have experienced events like these.
In other words, unlike someone who really wants to understand something, you read about it, believed it and now are propagating your beliefs.
The medical profession hasn't anything to do with your delusions, try not to confuse them with the snakeoil salesmen you're used to dealing with.
Are you afraid that these instances will refute your own personal beliefs?
Take a look at this entire video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KC5O2jS3 … mp;index=0
Here is one that has medical professionals in them:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pTiGtIlMFSI
Afterwards, provide sources to information that refute this.
My "personal beliefs" have nothing to do with the delusions of the insane.
The medical professionals said they were psychotic and stated they do not believe in demonic possession. What more do you need?
Did all of them state this? Could you watch both videos carefully?
Are medical professionals always right?
I wonder how much they paid for their demon detectors.
No, but at least they are not insane like those at the Vatican.
I am not in the Vatican. I am not even a Catholic. Since Doctors can be wrong, is it even remotely possible they can be wrong about demons and mental ilness?
It is a remote possibility, just like the existence of your god, or unicorns, or leprechauns, etc. They all have equally remote possibilities.
The problem, once again, is that believers aren't satisfied with answers that don't include their gods, or with questions that have yet to be answered. They immediately turn to the remote possibilities and jump to conclusions.
We read here daily of all the things people want to believe that are real and true, but their beliefs are as vacuous as thin air considering they would violate any number of physical laws attempting to demonstrate demons even exist and can possess people.
If you believe in magic, SirDent, and the fact that these types of beliefs do in fact violate those physical laws, then there isn't a single solitary thing I or anyone else could convince you that demonic possession is bunk.
Why keep hitting your head against a brick wall?
Many believe there is life on nother planets. They also believe that life is more advanced than we are. They have no proof of this and in fact if there is life on other planets, they could be far less adavanced than we are.
There is really no difference between needing proof for one and needing proof for the other, yet many believe they will find these other life forms out there some day.
When you make comparisons of your gods to reality, you create an instant fallacy. Whatever life may be present elsewhere in the universe is based on evidence of life here on earth. The evidence for your gods exists only in the bible, a book of myth and superstitions.
That's a strawman argument, SirDent.
Just have to say that I have seen plenty of evidence that demons exist, and been present when their authority has been revoked, and seen folk walk free from situations that the secular world has no answer for.
One of the most common spiritual demon tricks, is to become so familiar with the 'subject' that the subject will become their mouthpiece without even realising it.
I call them 'Satan Whisperers' and many forum posts are a good example of this.
Same as religion, not one piece of verifiable evidence since the beginning of time.
Do you realize that 99% of what you post is just repeating your well-established fear of faith?
Never let facts get in the way of what you "know" about others eh?
I don't fear the tooth fairy, I leave that to the chronically afraid like yourself. Your god is a crock.
And your infantile fear is misplaced and self-destructive. Maybe someday you'll figure out what it is you are really afraid of and can work on becoming half of what you want to think you are.
Sorry oh sab oh one you are mirror gazing again. I don't do chronic fear of sky fairies. I leave that for your good self!
Yes it is very de constructive, you could do with a glance inside, you know, consult the fairy.
Just wondering, earnestshub - have you ever had a close friend experience something like what is being discussed here?
Just wondering if you've had a bad experience with something along these lines which causes you to very much (just an observation, no judgment here) minimize such a topic down to "there is no verifiable proof" statements.
I have experienced friends who have felt they have seen ghosts, encountered strange entities, experienced strange events. I don't know whether or not these things have explanations but I have always tried to "tend to" the fact that people I know are experiencing SOMETHING...their feelings seem very real to me. Certainly if fear is present, I am concerned at certain times and do not "minimize" what a friend is going through if I can at all help it.
I don't know if, in treating matters this way, I'm "enabling" a friend or being considerate and understanding...but I usually feel compelled to listen to a full "account" of a strange event without interrupting or anything...
Just wondering what your viewpoint here is - or if you've had to deal with anything "unexplained" via friends, family, etc
I have had several experiences of friend having these experiences as I feel most people would have. A memorable one happened in Malaysia. (Lots of ghosts in Malaysia)
The ghosts were occupying a gulley where they needed to put a freeway.
The guy I was consulting to "moved" them. Made him 9 million dollars out of the road contract he was granted. A nice rich little ghost story for you. I have others but all were explainable to me at least.
The reason I state there is no proof for religious beliefs is just a matter of looking yourself, reading the tomes and seeing the psychosis for what it is. There is no proof. Why not say so?
Maybe allergic to bed mites..which may appear as welts..
Those darn alien or satanic bed mites!

How does one get scratched on the side Of his head where it is laying on the pillow ? Can someone help me pease
The quills of protruding feathers can be quite sharp.
Yikes, I clicked on the exorcism video you had posted and it freaked me out. I don't know why, but now I seriously have the creeps.
The scratchy thing - I don't know. Something may have been itching while asleep and that would account for natural reaction of scratching?
Demonic Scratches are happening all over the world, so many comments from the afflicted. I wrote the article "Waking Up with Unexplained Scratches on My Body" in the hopes that I wasn't crazy and to find out if I was alone... I wasn't.
Thank you for the interest in our articles.

Hello I could really appreciate it if my fellow hubbers could give me advice on how to deal with some unwanted cat behaviors.A few days ago I took in a stray cat, I think it is mainly a Persian, that was living under the wood shed in my backyard. It was in pretty bad shape. I would like to keep it...

Aside from a scratching post, what else is a solution for a cat that scratches things in the house?
by lauravan 12 years ago
We keep our kitten's nails trimmed regularly, and we model how to use the scratching post, but he seems bent on ignoring that it even exists. He also likes to try and sharpen his nails on the carpet. Aside from declawing, what methods have you found effective for training your cat(s) and saving...
