Do you read all the scriptures that are given to you as a reference?
I read at a very fast speed. so i just have a glimpse on all the scriptures and then read the ones that i feel are important. Just going through all of them makes is easier to analyze and understand the gist of all the topics covered in it.
I read every scripture. sometimes scripture is misused or taken out of context. It is good to try and see just how the writer is trying to apply it, so as to know if it applies or not to their message.
I admit, I cheat. My husband is a pastor for the Lutheran Church. His seminary required he have a reading and working knowledge of Greek and Hebrew - so I often cheat by asking him instead of looking things up myself. I know that is not the best way.
I also have a New Testament in the original language with exact translation. That is very helpful, when I get off my b--- and look things up myself.
It really depends on the subject matter...........in my understanding there is NO scripture that condones abortion......so I do not attempt to twist it.
If there is a lesson that I might learn and grow from......yes, it is worth all of the time it takes me to study.
Months were spent on the Sabbath,
years on the prodigal son............I still sometimes struggle with that one
Mary at the well..........she was NOT the same Mary, the prostitute, or the Mary, the mother of Jesus.
Elizabeth.........too old to bear a child.........well, I know such a woman,
I also know a man who can not read a child's reading book but who can read the Bible.........
I know that God does not serve me, it is I who serves God. So is the fate of my fellow man, whatever part they may play.
I know enough.......to know when scripture is being twisted. I do not engage with those people.
No. I can't read Hebrew, Greek, Latin, Sanskrit, Futhark runes, Arabic, and ancient Mandarin, so most of the religious texts of the world are indiscernable to me. Can you?

Can a normal human rightfully claim that their interpretation of the Bible is the only correct one?Can this notion of "I am right and you are wrong" really exist in a healthy Christian? I am beginning to think that it cannot. It is becoming a little obvious that those who proclaim their...

Does anyone else feel that organized religion is built on a foundation of making you feel guilty?I feel that in order for an organized religion to run successfully it must be predicated on the fact that you must feel guilty on a number of levels. Guilty if you: 1. Aren't coming to church. 2. Don't...

Over the past few days I have been witness to and taken part in some pretty lively debates about using scripture to chastise and condemn those who disagree with someone's particular view or belief. During these debates people have been banned, insulted, and made fool of. However the debate rages...
