How do you gracefully tell a Christian to stop trying to convert you?

I want to tell someone that I really am Pagan and I'm not confused... Without insulting them.

A simple "we are all entitled to our own beliefs and I don't happen to share yours, but I respect your right to believe whatever you choose"
should do it.  If not, then I wouldn't worry about being more direct and insulting them to be honest.  Some people have no concept of personal boundaries.  If you state it just like above, it shows that you respect them and it also says you recognize you are worthy of the same respect in return.  Many people can and do live and let live; others are never content unless they are trying to convert others.  I choose not to surround myself with the latter.

The creator's name is Amun, and the Creator mother is Nun. 1 becomes 2, 2 becomes 4, and is 1 again. Only the Ancient Teachings of Egypt can tell you exactly what it means.

I have learned to tell people that I am not Christian and do not want to talk about their religion. We can still be friends, but only if they leave their religion in their churches.
If they persist, I start talking about how I don't believe in god, so there is no point in continuing the conversation. Then, I simply start talking about something else entirely.
If they still persist, I just get up and walk away.

Simply tell them if the only thing they want to discuss is religion when you get together then you won't be spending anytime with them.
I've seen similar instances when friends have signed on with the latest "multi-level marketing" product. Suddenly every call and get together is about how (you) need to join up as well.
There are thousands of other things to chat about!
Sometimes you just have to cut off people.
Each of us gets to (choose) who we spend our time with.

I have had a hard time recently trying to explain to my mother in law that I am not going to convert. She always tells me that I'm ruining my boys lives by being Pagan. I have a lot of respect for my elders because of how I was raised in foster care. To hear her say I'm ruining my boys lives hurts deeply. She's said many things that have caused a lot of grief to me.

my husband has told me to tell her to bleep off when she says those things, but I can't seem to do it. ... I say "Naomi I'm sorry to say this but I'm not changing my faith. I don't see what is wrong with teaching my boys to love the earth and to respect all living things including insects."

She tells me there is nothing wrong with that, it's just she doesn't want to see them wearing the pentagram.... so I switched to Ankh's. She says that it's a pagan cross... I informed her that it's an ancient symbol for eternal life.

She says that my beliefs are silly and made up. I don't know how to get her to see that she's offending me.... I've tried so many different ways around it. My husband has even went so far as to ask me to fake being Christian just for her.... I told him the thought made me want to vomit.... it's a very sticky situation... and my boys are involved and I don't want to cut her out of their lives....

One method you could try is a sort of compromise. Tell them that they can talk to you about their religion only if you have equal time to talk about yours. You might not be interested in spreading paganism, or even talking about it. But the suggestion that they would have to listen to you might scare them off. Many people like to talk, but don't like to listen.

Be straightforward.  Tell the Christian that you have a zero% chance of conversion and that he or she should focus efforts on converting someone else, instead of wasting time with trying to convert you.  Also, compare it to how it would bother that Christian if you tried to convert him or her continuously.  Try to reach an agreement that you will not try to mention religious beliefs around each other.  If this person is worthwhile to have in your life, he or she will learn to understand your discomfort and your side of the issue.

I have read this entire thread.....despite the fact that one person here is most incredibly repetitive and severely annoying.......Oh please help us when we hook one of those single-minded, brain-washed, hijacked individuals!   Let's face it.  It's a complete waste of energy, oxygen and logic to respond to them.  My opinion is....leave them be in their small, stifled & ignorant world. They're happy...or so they profess!

Hey all!   Take Notice and beware.  We've been forewarned "GOD IS WATCHING."    Reminds me of a joke I heard a long time ago.......
10 year olds, Johnny & Jimmy were in the cafeteria line for lunch in school.....There was a NUN standing by the basket of apples.  She told the children to TAKE JUST ONE APPLE.....and GOD was WATCHING them!.....So down the line Johnny & Jimmy went after taking just ONE apple.....They got to the very end and there was a huge pile of chocolate cookies.  Johnny started grabbing handfuls of cookies and piling them on his tray!!   Horrified, Jimmy said, "Johnny....WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!"   Johnny said....."Go ahead, take as many as you want.....God's watching the apples!!"...........
I think this thread could use a bit of levity!.....Whew.  Those fanatics sure get rough to handle!
