I am definately the best writer on Hubpages.......with the name SimeyC!

Let's be honest, it's so hard to say who the best writer is on Hubpages - there are so many diverse and succesful writers here - I would be hard-pressed to narrow it down to 100!

Would I list myself as one of the top 100? top 1000? Well I am definately in the top 100,000 probably, maybe!

I am a good writer - I generally have good 'speeling and grandma' and I feel I have the abilty to write in a way that is pretty easy to follow - so in that respect I feel I do a good job - I do not pick the best subjects to write on, and the majority of my hubs are not intended to be great writing, but are intended to try and sell something!

So if you take the fact that I am here to basically make money into account then there is no way I am the best writer....

...if you look at the couple of hubs that are totally about telling a story then perhaps I am up there....but it's all subjective anyways....

...so simple answer....I am not the best writer on hubpages. Now I could have just started the whole entry with that and saved you a lot of reading couldn't I?

LOL, I care for real writers cause i know what money-maker hubbers are in reality. I don't like looking down on newbies and real writers just because they're not earning money. But this is what money-maker authors are doing these days. I'm still stuck with 350$/month so i'm not elite when it comes to making money. I care for real-writers cause when they learn something they don't hesitate to put it for others to use, this is something money-maker hubbers will never do due to fear of their trick getting abused.  So i care for real people.

ryankettposted 14 years agoin reply to this

I say it a lot... but online writing and offline writing are the polar opposites. Those who love the art of writing (although online is fine as a platform if you don't want an income) are those who could successfully earn money offline for doing the thing that they love. I won't become a novelist writing how-to articles and sales pages, whilst the more creative writers will struggle to become online earners.

Whilst you are clearly not on hubpages with the intention of making money, would you not consider submitting your work to offline publications? You certainly have the ability, and it can pay very well. The best writers struggle online, because they are simply not competing on quality....

I'm not telling you to leave us of course! Only that those who refuse to sell out at all can often successfully earn money for their craft without compromising on their passions or interests...

Define 'writer'...  Does this include who is the best forum poster, hub producer, advertiser, lunatic, comedian, sockpuppet, spammer, solicitor, uh, uh......  LOL!  big_smile

  14. profile image0
    ryankettposted 14 years ago

I am 100% not the greatest writer on hubpages, and never will be, there are four or five people on this site - I will not name - who should be writing for broadsheets or publishing with one of the very biggest publishing houses. Some of them have a true gift, Russell D as a quick example.

I wouldn't even put myself in the top 25%, but thats all good, you see my intention is to become one of the best earners on hubpages and not one of the best writers lol

It's a difficult one to define though. The best writer could also be the most boring, if you are judging on the perfection of the English language. You can be a master in the use of nouns, verbs, adjectives.... and still be a plain boring person. I guess it just depends on what floats your boat.

You can be 2nd worse if you want though hmm I don't think that's a fair assessment, but anything that keeps you from taking the #1 spot is fine by me tongue.

Thank you Ryan for the post. Much appreciated.
Luckily, I've already been contacted by a few agents (a little overwhelming actually) and been advised not to publish more of my work on line (hence I don't hub so often now) and instead focus on writing a novel or short stories. I've already started that, and fortunately, there is quite a demand for the kind of issues I write on, so let's see how it goes.

I do realize that online writing has it's limitations yes, but since I enjoy creativity in any form, i plan to write more hubs, say on 'quotes' or more 'pictorial' kind perhaps. Not necessarily to earn, but just as a creative outlet.

(As for money/earnings...let's put it this way, my own job and husband's, more than takes care of it so it's not a motivation)

Sooner or later, I know I'll move away from this site...it's a little too blatantly commercial for my liking....but then, thank god there are some genuinely talented people here (often the most humble ones) that serve as real inspiration too... smile
    take care.....and thanks again.
