Hello HubMobster, ready to start a new week?  Ready for a new challenge?  This week we are going to support November's Diabetes awareness month.

    http://i665.photobucket.com/albums/vv19/wyanjen/HubMob/diabetesF.jpg

A big thank to all the HubMobsters who supported the Halloween Safety HubMob, like every week you did a great job with very interesting contributions.  Thank you for raising awareness about a very important issue during the Halloween celebrations.

This week we are going to be writing about a topic that although it is highlighted in November, it is a topic that is is very important all year round.  Diabetes is a disease with deadly consequences and using the HubMob to raise awareness about it we can educate people about diabetes health risks while giving new ideas and resources on a topic that is of general interest worldwide.

Some ideas for a HubMob supporting the diabetes awareness month are:

    Health risks
    How to identify diabetes
    diabetes tests
    diabetes diets
    diabetes treatments
    stopping diabetes
lowering the risks of developing diabetes

To join this week's HubMob please follow the steps below:

    1. START YOUR HUB CLICKING THIS LINK.  Choose the "Answer the Request" green button.  Choose the MAKE A HUB ABOUT IT option.

    2. Choose a relevant title for your Hub to get a good ranking in the search engines, AVOID starting your title with "Weekly HubMob"

    3. Include the HubMob RSS Feed in your hub

    4. Add one of the HubMob graphics  You can use the special graphic at the start of this thread http://i665.photobucket.com/albums/vv19 … betesF.jpg which was created for the topic by  wyanjen, or the traditional HubMob graphic below.
    http://i43.tinypic.com/rup3mg.jpg

    5. After you publish your HubMob Hub, come back to the forum and post a link to your hub.

of course, but there are certain facts that we have to investigate... i am not a doctor, so if i want to talk about diabetes I have to do my research and of course (as i did in this hub) write my source.

You have to rewrite it in your own words or put everything you took in quotations.

You did all the research, can't you write some of it in your own words and quote the statistics? I write lots of articles about topics I had no knowledge of before I started researching.

I agree with Uninvited Writer.  You don't have to have a personal perspective.  I write about a lot of stuff also, that I am interested in, but have no personal experience with.  I try to read and digest the information, then present it in my own words, hopefully in a way that readers can understand and relate to.  The problem with your diabetes hub is that you did not paraphrase.  I checked random passages in your hub, and found 4 out of 5 were taken word for word from various other sources. Good luck!

travel_man1971posted 13 years agoin reply to this

                  I agree with rmcrayne, too.

I err with my initial hubs, too by copying and pasting phrases from sources like Wikepedia, etc. But it will never score high... because HubPages software will determine whether it's your own work, words or not and brand it as duplicate.

But there's still a chance to paraphrase it in your own words, and explain it to your readers as if you're just lecturing it in the classroom.

                  Good luck, Marie Alice.

You are automatically in the RSS feed when you start your hub from Princessa's link, which you must have done, because you are in the RSS.  You need to add a HubMob graphic, and an RSS capsule with the HubMob RSS.  Check out a HubMob hub from a veteran like Patty Inglish.  Or you can take a look at this hub that has step by step screen shots:

I notice that the RSS feed seems --non the other hubbers pages -- to give only the first few sites, and that doesn't change, over time. I set mine for a larger number so my feed gets most of the hub mob, but I came late enough that it looks as if my site will not be on  most feeds.. am I right? Does that mean the hub mob feed works best for those who post their hub on Mondays?

I'm not sure what you mean.  The HubMob RSS shows everything.  It's what I use to put together the roundup hub.  I just updated the Back to School HubMob, which has 122 objects in the feed, 120 of which are hubs.

Had a typo there, and new enough to not know how to edit forum posts. What  I was getting at was that what actually shows on the hubs when I  visit them, and on these there are a small number of hubs typically from the first few..I guess I don't understand rss very well... whats the point of being in a feed if no one sees you?

Would someone please explain this hub mob community to me? I already read the learning center stuff on it, but they seemed to indicate we all look at each others websites for that week, which at least increased internal traffic. I have looked at more than half of the sites and commented on several, but not one hub mobber  has looked at mine. My site on diabetic retinopathy is a very good site for content, although I can't seem to get the hang of all the ads, and making the site appealing to view...but it has had fewer hits the first day than anything I have written. Also as I mentioned in another post, my site only made the feed of one person, because it came on Wednesday instead of Monday. Is Hob mom exclusively a Monday thing?

Arthorfriendly sorry you don’t seem to be having an overwhelmingly positive HubMob experience.  HubPages does some internal promotion, such as allowing us to come back and post our links to the HubMob thread.  There's also the HubMob roundup hub that gives each hub a link.  The internal HubPages traffic however is not what is going to make the big difference in your overall success in terms of traffic.  Being found by Google and other search engines is ultimately what we seek.

There is a lot of support here at HubMob from fellow HubMobsters.  It may take a little while to be “discovered” by the Mob, but stick with us and I’m sure you will make friends.  Another reason to stick with us- several of my most viewed hubs are HubMob hubs on topics that I would never have thought to write on otherwise.

As far as the RSS capsule on other HubMobsters’ hubs- The default for the link is “new” hubs, so hubs are listed chronologically with new on top.  Maybe someone else can speak to what happens when we paste the RSS feed into the RSS capsule.  When I create custom feeds for my hubs, I tend to make the default “best”, so that it’s constantly changing, vs “new” which could be the same for months if I don’t publish on that topic.

Diabetes is a dreaded condition that is preventable and can be controlled by carefully avoiding foods that spike blood sugar. If you can remember to avoid mostly white foods like white sugar, white bread and white pasta you'll help yourself a great deal.

Eat mostly complex carbohydrates and protein with fresh vegetables. Drink a lot of water and exercise to sweat to keep your weight reasonable.

I am sorry travel man but I think you are a bit confused between type 1 and type 2.   I know that I am not going to be popular by correcting you, but I feel strongly that I need to.   I am sooo sorry - I cant stand creating waves:

My family is part of the Bart Oxford study for type 1 diabetes. Christian was 18 months old when he got diabetes mellitus and we have been part of the study since. It is the biggest study in the world.

No one really knows why people get type 1 - the study suggests that it is phosphates in the water, triggered by an infection prior to the onset and a genetic component.

Christian was a baby - he didnt drink alchohol, neither excessive fat/cake eating... he had a shock. He fell into a river some weeks prior and could have had low immunity to do with getting chicken pox. The condition is to do with the autoimmune system and has nothing really to do with abusing himself.

With type 2, this is a different story. This condition can result in abuse of the body but type 1 has absolutely nothing to do with this.

Islet cells for type 2 cant cope with the amount of sugar within the body. The cells dont die, they just become less effective. In type 1, the cells die totally (after a period known as 'honeymooning') . It is possible, through diet, that type 2 can make a recovery (the cells dont work efficiently). Type 1 diabetes the cells die completely.

I just thought you needed to know this and hope that my comment adds value to your information.

Linda, welcome to the 'Mob!!  You started from the link and are in the RSS feed.  You picked a great topic, included the HubMob graphic, and included an RSS capsule with out feed.  And I love that you included your references!

Diabetes awareness must desperately take note of the long term effects of childhood obesity. Obese children eventually become adults; if the obesity is tend to, a reversal of degenerative disease and onset of diabetes can be averted.
