I once came across an old guy who named his dog Quitya..[i.e. stop that].

My friend once had a samoyed named Weiss (white, in German).

Where I'm currently living there is a German Shepherd named Pran (I believe it's a Hindu word meaning breath or breath of life).  We're best buddies, and he's pretty darn smart too.

Long ago the neighbours had an old English Sheepdog, very hairy, friendly and playful. Spent a lot of time on the street meeting and greeting, when he met somebody who really took his fancy he would jump up for a good look and sniff.
The usual reaction for the jumped upon was to yell GEROFF and the dog rachet up the excitement "Hey, this guy knows my name, he must be friend"
And of course the more the assailed yelled GEROFF the more excited the dog was that somebody knew his name.

My son recently purchased a pure bred German Shepherd pup and wanted to name her after a famous German woman...the only one he could think of was Ava Braun(!!!)...hence her name "Ava". My Snoodle was adopted from the pound three days before he was scheduled to be put down...We named him Shadrack from the Bible, one of the three Isrealite men that was thrown in the fire that God protected. We call him Shad for short.

We named our dogs after wanted criminals. It started innocently with our first dog, a golden retriever with huge paws like the Clydesdale horses. So we named him Clyde. When we got our female golden it was natural to name her Bonnie. Two years later we adopted a Japanese chin and we named him pretty boy Floyd and when we rescued a pug we named him Al Capone. Our dogs are named for criminals but the worst they can be accused of is stealing your heart.

A friend of my mom named their dog a$$hole.  Well, one day we were walking him, with no leash, this was years ago, and he ran up to a jogger on the beach.  Well, my mom yelled "get over here a$$hole!" and the jogger came walking over with his head down.  I nearly wet my pants laughing so hard it took us 3-4 minutes before we could tell him why we were laughing.
    But, my dogs are;
    Jaeger and Macallan.

My puppy, a rare chocolate and tan dachshund, is called Bimmer. As in BMW, the car, pronounced BEAM-er. The has these little tan marks over his eyes that just made me think he looked rather like the front of my BMW. It fits him well. He is fierce and he is fast... just like my car! A total sweetheart and very hyper! I love him!

I always named my dogs according to what I like at the moment, I named my first dog Voltair after Voltes V, at that time Voltes V was the craze in the Philippines, I had another dog that I named Clarky, because of my favorite hero superman Clark Kent that was when Christopher reeve was the one portraying superman, in 1995 I had a dog that I named concon, because my the name of my special someone started with con... now my 10 year old dog is Mario Peso, Mario to represent me, he is the male me coz I am Maria, Peso which is the philippine currency because when he came to my life I have no special someone, and I work hard to provide for my love ones.   My 2nd dog Piseta Danica (she died last March 2010), Piseta is another Philippine currency while danica taken from the name of my someone at that time... My third dog is PM or Pissie Marie, I named her after my Piseta Danica while her Marie is of course taken from my name.  Whenever I give names to my dogs I see to it that I always have stories to tell behind it.... asnd I find it good to name them after me, so now at Present I have Mario Peso and Pissie Marie.. obviously mine

Well, I have had few dogs over the years. Here are some of their names in order of when we had them. Two are still living.

Buffy, Scooter, and Princess all passed away a while back.

My mom also has two older dogs. We got them as a brother and sister pair. My sister suggested Donnie and Marie, and we all went NO!!! So, we all agreed on Bonnie and Clyde. They are 17 years old.

A friend of mine also has two little dogs. Oscar and Lulu.

Best name for a dog? I'd call him something to keep him from chasing his tail. First, I'd teach him to walk backwards, then, I'd spell dog backwards. And THAT is what I would call him. DOG, spelled backwards! smile Sorry, I had to go in reverse for that joke. smile smile

A dog is a retarded creature.
It's ownership creates a bond twixt it and its master which in too many cases, becomes like a parent and offspring.
The "master" becomes a slave to the dog.
The "retard" depends upon its master for everything for up to 15 or so years.
Dog ownership is frustrating and limiting in ref to a "normal" man's freedom and choices.
    I wouldn't own a dog!
If somehow/someway ownership of one was forced upon me, I'd name it "dog." Here dog, here dog.....
Thanks goodness there's no chance of that happening.
I know I've made alota friends with this comment...lol
    I just don't like 'em!

The closest I came to having a dog was when I adopted  stray pit bull for a day. He was such a darling...I really think they are a misunderstood breed. Anyway I called him "Red Bull" because he was red smile What a no-brainer! I still regret turning him over to a pit bull shelter.

I have unique names for my dogs. They are all Indian names that have a meaning. They also are all labs. Mukki is my male he is almost three and Tehya is my female one year old and Kaya is the new puppy that Mukki and Tehya Created. Mukki means My child, Tehya means Precious and Kaya means wise child. So if you want to put them all in a sentence it could go like this My Tehya Kaya Mukki..My Precious wise child. lol that was not the plan behind the names though. I am of Indian decent and just wanted unique names for my animals.

I had a cat that I found along the side of a highway. He was pure white with huge pure blue eyes and a big pink nose. We started calling him Pinky because of that nose, but after we had him for a short while we realized that he was the most mischievious cat ever so his name got changed to "felonious Pinkus" our own little criminal cat. The funny thing was that we also had two dogs and so Pinkus acted like one of the dogs. would go ourside with them. If he wander out of the yard, you just stood out in front and called out "hey Felon, come on Felon" and the cat immediately came home.
