   Has Pinterest blocked Hubpages!?
   
   It seems that Hubpages has been blocked. My account is live, but it seems that Hubpages pins are not allowed at the moment. Is anyone else experiencing this? I can pin from other sites with no problem.

   Yes, it seems that some over-eager Hubpages users have ruined it for everyone by pinning nearly every image they upload. Now Pinterest considers Hubpages a source of spam.

   Oh no! Really! That is going to really hit a few people badly. I do get a fair amount via pintrest so that will suck! But there are lots of other companies on pintrest who pin so many images, its bad if Hubpages gets penalized!

   Seems to me that Pinterest is a very open platform so to actually penalise a site such as Hub Pages would be an arrogant move on their part I think. In addition, surely it's sites like Hub Pages who helped them along when they first started? But having said that, as one contributor has said, is it other Hubbers spoiling it for the rest? There is so much 'junk' getting pushed onto the internet for the sake of getting a few quid and no thought about quality or if the 'junk' is actually of interest or helping anyone, so it seems to me a lot of the internet is all spam anyway!

   Yes! and what sucks even more is that all previous pins that have a link to hubpages have also been blocked!
   
   When I click on my old links, I get a message that says:
   "Unsafe Link
   We've blocked this link to protect pinners from spam or other inappropriate content."
   
   This really sucks because pintrest was a huge traffic generator for me.

   Two days ago i was sent a link to a fellow hubbers Pinterest site and it was blocked.   This is the only Pnterest site i have ever tried to access.   The hubber had sent the link to me suggesting I look at their photos so it was a recent link.

   I think they must have determined that Hubpages material has fallen under one of these two categories:
   2.The site contains spammy, misleading or inappropriate content.  This may mean the site has been reported as spam, the owner of the site has spammed Pinterest, or the site has otherwise violated Pinterest's Terms of Service or Acceptable Use Policy.
   
   3.The site's content violates our policy on adult content. Pinterest does not allow photographs containing breasts, buttocks or genitalia.

    I have never used Pinterest, however I see this as a major red flag for HP.  I have been saying for some time that the low quality of many articles will drag all of us down...and here it is!  Time for those in charge to firm up their requirements, sort out the dross and save HP.

       I do a fair amount of hub hopping and it's about 50% drek, 30% mediocre coming through there, lots of spammy stuff. I have no idea how much members' hub hopping could help to weed out these kind of low-content articles.

    I tried to upload direct on Pinterest, and the message says that this link has been denounced as spam. Or something like that. So it seems somebody has actually complained about Hubpages. Is this possble? And do we notify Team? We can't all be penalized like this!

       I tried to repin one of billybuc's pins, and the message says: Sorry! You've hit a pin block. Users have reported that this pin links to spam or inappropriate content.
       I think this can't be, we are all blocked indiscriminately!

    Hmmm....interesting. I hadn't run into this problem, but I haven't tried to pin anything in a couple of days. That's too bad, it doesn't seem fair for Hubpages to get blocked.

    The last two weeks have been traumatic for HP. The outage, the Google update and the Pinterest block have knocked the wind out of the site and many are suffering. Spammy, spun and spurious hubs are draining the life blood of this site. Those who try to create well written articles with an amount of SEO are being heavily penalised but the only antidote is more quality, as HP themselves have always emphasised.
    
    Low quailty content is certainly undermining HP, as are the over personalised hubs that give no useful information but are merely naval cleaning exercises. Being social is one thing, but too much 'I lost my love to a kitchen unit salesman, how about you?' kind of hub (with awful photographs) isn't going to impress Google or sites like Pinterest.
    
    I've read horrendous stories away from HP about small businesses going under following the Google update - people losing jobs, livelihoods, websites that have been viable for decades - perhaps Google went too far this time and severely injured many innocents.
    
    But the message is clear. We as writers need to create more quality hubs. Those in charge of HP need to find a better way of raising standards. Could this mean that HP's open door policy has to change?

       But look at the spammy stuff on Squidoo and they say that wasn't hit. You look there and the articles are just covered with ads. I don't get it.

    Very interesting. I've never been into back linking and I still get traffic.
    
    I think the only way sites are going to survive is by having high quality stuff to read and entertain - not to sell!
    
    I have changed directions completely. While I do earn a few bucks from HP, I'm focusing on writing books and to earn my income from there in the future. I keep about half a dozen blogs and Wizzley. I write on them more to entertain and to edify than anything else. I'm also focusing on video.
    
    I think the world is getting sick of advertising and of having things written with a not so well hidden motive of selling, and I think sites are getting wise to the fact that they won't rise in the rankings unless their sites are more about information and entertainment than about selling something.

    Yes, Pinterest has blocked Hubpages.  I also tried pinning two very interesting hubs, but it is not allowing me to pin and states spammy content from this link.
    
    I am new to writing hubs and in the learning process and have very few visitors per day.  But recently, I had a good spike in one of my hubs.  The views jumped from 10s to 100 and the youtube video linked to it also had a good increase in viewers.  I was exploring the reasons and found out that somebody had repinned my hub pin.  So, this block is going to be a good blow to the number of viewers to hubpages.
    
    I also do lots of search engine research (for info on SEO and other stuff)  and lately I have seen that many hubs are not showing in the first page, but they used to do previously.  This is just an observation and not sure whether it is true or why it happens.
    
    I am a hub fan for a long time and as a reader I recently felt the percentage of good quality hubs are declining fast.  So, now I just read the hubs of my favorite authors to whom I have subscribed.

    Pinterest seems to have the ability to block subdomains, if I'm correct in thinking that blogspot hosted blogs are considered as such; I have tried to click pins before to specific blogspot blogs that were blocked, giving the same message we see now for HubPages, but most other blogspot links (including mine) are still viable.
    
    If they can single out xxxxxxxx.blogspot.com and not penalize all blogger blogs, why couldn't they also be specific for our HP subdomains?  Of course there are some people who overuse Pinterest to pin their hubs, but that shouldn't hurt us all.
    
    Pinterest was literally my last hope for traffic after the last Google update, and I rarely even pin my own material. Pins of my hubs from readers have been blocked and it's terrible, especially since "social proof" is so important for a site's credibility these days. After already losing 75% of traffic because of Google's last play, this knocks me down another 20% leaving me with almost only HP traffic (which I'm guessing isn't worth a whole lot with respect to the Ad Program).
    
    This change must have happened today, because I still had traffic from Pinterest showing in my 24-hour stats this morning. I would hazard to guess that after this last pounding we took from Google a lot of hubbers were desperate and turned to their next biggest source of traffic and were a little overzealous with the pinning.
    
    I hope HubPages will be able to work with Pinterest on this and convince them to consider allowing non-spammy subdomains to continue to use the site.

    I have not been using Pinterest. Maybe over the course of 6 months I have pinned two items. Today I just tried from HP. Blocked domain as noted by all those present here. Any update news?

       Did you get a blocked message? I've been experiencing '502 Gateway' errors. I just try 2 or 3 times and it seems to eventually come up with 'successful'.

       I think their site is struggling. Although the pin button turns gray, you can just re-click it and attempt to pin a few times (I found 1-3 attempts would work today). You get a success message when it works.

       I shared to Pinterest from an HP hub just some minutes ago, no problem at alI.Went through some boards on Pinterest, and found it slow, but got into most of the places I clicked. I got one 502, went round again and then it was all right. Just slow!
