Well, not just today!  I wish.  But, today I will pass the 2,000,000 views milestone.  It took awhile - helped by some popular hubs and hindered by the one that wants a good kicking as it's only had 34 views in the last 3 years!

Website traffic really is an 80/20 situation, with 20% of hubs producing consistent long-term results and 80% being duds.  It'd be nice to have a crystal ball to be able to spot the duds before I write them though!

    *grins*

So - 2,000,000 sets of eyeballs have been exposed to my genius since I joined.

    I need cake.....

I likewise consider views a very big deal.

Basically, you have communicated with and contributed to the well-being of over 2,000,000 minds.

If that isn't a contribution to society, then I don't know what is.

      Well, done.

Congrats on that. Not many people get that many views. And, yes, I'm burning that 80/20 principle into my brain cells at this point. In a way, it's encouraging.

I went to your profile page and read few of your titles. It felt like being at the flea market, where I could find everything I wanted. You deserve your success. And by the way, you must have been one of the few hubbers who didn't get nipped by the Google Pandas and Penguins. Congrats.

There are several answers, I am not sure if I am allowed to be specific and remain within the site TOS, so I will only say:

1] Not as many as my genius deserves
2] Not as many as I used to get in previous years
3] I did see a traffic dip in 2011-2012, but some has returned.

Ok, Earner, I understand. It's great that things are getting better after the Google updates from a few years ago.

I wonder if they had an accolade with 2,000,000. So far the biggest I saw was 1 million.

    1. SpaceShanty profile image81
SpaceShantyposted 9 years agoin reply to this

      Congrats Earner!
You get an accolade at 1 Million and then the next one isn't until 10 Million!

    1. earner profile image81
earnerposted 9 years agoin reply to this

Yes, but not enough of them!  Imagine if one could guarantee every hub a winner!   A winner that'd automatically outsmart any new algorithms, changes, etc ... a true evergreen.

Congratulations!  I love to hear about these milestones!

Regarding the accolades - it's been suggested before that HP develop additional ones at shorter increments.  It's a long wait between the 100,000 views accolade and the 1 Million mark, and even a longer wait to get to the multi-million-view accolades.

It would probably take some programming tweaks that might not be the biggest priorities just now, but if there's a way to create new plateaus someday, I think many of us would appreciate having those little signs of success on our profiles.

earnerposted 9 years agoin reply to this

I believe, from memory, that my accolades are hidden, so it's neither here nor there.
At some time in the past, I believe, it was thought that those with most/highest accolades were having more/all of their hubs stolen.   The option to hide them was put in place - and, I think, I hid mine.  Can't swear to it as I don't take notice of badges etc to be honest.

I wonder if the hub thieves out there are now going to use the "editors choice" badge at the bottom of photo to decide which hubs to steal.

        1. earner profile image81
earnerposted 9 years agoin reply to this

Editor's choice is an odd one - they aren't best performing hubs, they're just "chosen" in some arbitrary way.

  10. wilderness profile image95

Congrats!  That's almost as big as the one million mark; you did it once and now know it wasn't a fluke.  You have done it twice!

I should be joining you there in a few months - if you'll wait we can share the cake. smile

You've only been here half the time, Wilderness, so you're doing well!

At one time last year I thought I was going to hit the 2 million mark but I've been nothing with my HubPages account for months and the numbers have really slowed to a crawl.  Might get it this year, though.
