Would it be possible to introduce a word count limit on forum posts?Look at the forums and you'll find there's never a good reason for a long forum post.Spammers write a long post to advertise their DVD ripper or whatever. Religious fanatics write a long post to preach. Confused newbies...

To prevent spam (see optimusinfo2).If you just joined less than an hour ago, maybe you should not be able to initiate 15+ posts or more.I don't know what a good initial limit would be, but maybe something like that would help the problem.

Just an idea: one forum I on has a feature where you can 'ignore certain users and so their posts are not displayed to you. That might help lower the form temperatures a little?
