    Day 15, Hub 21

The holidays is I time when I'm making or freezing lumpia for Thanksgiving and Christmas parties.  Why not milk it and write a recipe Hub about it?  As you probably noticed, when it comes to Hub subjects, I have no shame.

Prairie Princess, thank you for your comments!  I have an edge over most Hubbers because I am retired.  I can ignore everything and just write.  I have to admit this is the best time of my life.  Broke as a joke, but enjoying the chance to write all I want.  Yes, life is grand!  Don't ever let anyone tell you different!

From my own experience, I know I don't do well in a roomful of writers.  I will not join a writers' group.  I'm taking about the living, breathing ones who call themselves writers or wannabe writers.  I'd much rather work on my lonesome, and this is why:

I deleted this hub because I received an email saying that it's duplicate content. It was a recipe given to me for a Portuguese pastry that I love and have been making for years and I wanted to share. There's not much I can do to revise so I've decided to just delete. I guess I won't risk sharing any more of my favorite recipes because I don't know how unique any of them are to the internet.

      1. brittanytodd profile image94
brittanytoddposted 13 years agoin reply to this

You could just add some background information and then maybe they won't think it is duplicate content.  Sometimes having too many similar words to another article will trigger that, but you can try to make it unique by adding a conversion chart or polls or the story of how you came across this recipe.  I would love to read it.  Try to make it special so that you can republish.

        1. Global-Chica profile image77
Global-Chicaposted 13 years agoin reply to this

Thanks for the suggestion, Brittany. I did have background info about the recipe - how I never tried any portuguese pastries until my boyfriend's mother gave me this recipe and how now it's a big hit with my family in the US and I make it pretty often, although they look nothing like the ones in the pastry shops I've now come to know in Portugal! I also had my own pics of me making the custard, the tarts baking in the oven, and the finished product. I suppose the recipe though can be on many websites because it's a really popular dessert. The recipe itself is what's making the duplicate content trigger and I can't change anything there... sad So no recipe. I have the hub I wrote though in Word and would love to share with you if you'd like.

brittanytoddposted 13 years agoin reply to this

Yes. I would love to try it out.  You can send it to me via the contact button on my profile. That is such a bummer that it still thinks it's a duplicate.  Maybe you can leave it unpublished and have the staff review it.  They may find it to be personal enough to republish.  Best of luck!

Christmas is a time when people can showcase their talents.  I love receiving handmade gifts that I can use all year.  I used to bake cookies, cake, and bread to give to family and friends, but everyone is making an effort to eat healthy.  Next year, I hope to get it together and make homemade gifts that don't pile on the calories.  I do treasure all the handmade gifts I receive, so why shouldn't I make the effort to use my skills to make gifts?
