You are struggling with some things that we all struggle with. Yes, it is important to write quality hubs. And my husband gets frustrated with me also. One thing I found out after doing my first challenge was that the writing got easier as I went along.
Another thing you will hear many say is that more hubs is better because you are able to attract a larger following especially if you have lots of variety within your topics.
Yes, you can make a go at this writing one hub a week, and that is better than burning yourself out.
I too am very far behind on my reading. I can easily tell you that there are hundreds maybe even more than a thousand that I have put aside to try and sort through. But the more people you follow, the more there is always to read. But do not feel like you have to read everything. Read what appeals to you. Right now, I am focusing on the people who are doing the challenge. I will try to catch up on the others later.
The first time I did the challenge, I too wondered if I was overwhelming people. And to be honest with you, my family members do not even read all my hubs. My husband has probably not even read 1/10 of them. I don't put any pressure on anyone to read them. Where are you posting these hubs to?
The first time I did this challenge, I think if I remember correctly, I had only been writing for 12 days or I had only written 12 hubs (which would have been the sum total of all my writing career). Just saying that because I have only been doing this for 3.5 months. It was the challenge that made the difference for me.
From what I have gathered, making a go at anything like hubpages is going to require a lot of diligence and hard work. So you can do that diligence and hard work in a compressed form, or you can do it spread out. But it will be done.
This is just my personal opinion, but I have just now started being concerned with SEO after I had completed my 100th hub. There are so many things to learn as a new writer, and then so many things to be learned about hubpages. I concentrated on those things first. Now I am starting to be concerned with SEO and backlinking. When i do get someone to my site, now I have more to offer them than just a handfull of articles. That was my rationing. Hone my writing skills and learn the hubpages system. Now I am tackling SEO. And I will eventually go back and tweak some of the older ones for SEO later, but I think that some of my earlier writings are not as good as the ones I have now. So now that my writing skills are better honed, I feel better. I know that I have just blathered on.
Another thing that you can do to make the writing easier is to choose subjects that you don't have to do research on. I don't know what you are writing about but that is just a thought.
As far as advice... Well that is going to have to be up to you. Only you know your situation and what you are trying to accomplish. Only you know what your relationship with your husband can tolerate. And you are the one that will have to live with the situation. If you want to email me specifically and ask questions, feel free to do so. I hope this has helped and has not overwhelmed you.
