When you are feeling down, what is your comfort food?

Mine are ice-cream and chocolate.  Vanilla with hot fudge is my favourite.  What is yours?

oooo, that's a good one.  My mother loved to eat hot fudge, marshmallow sundaes and got me started on that combo.  But, I think mine is tollhouse choc chip cookies warm and fresh from the oven!  YUM  (with a cold glass of mild, of course).

I actually wrote a hub about comfort foods in January when I did the 30 day hubchallenge back then.

I'm doing the April hubchallenge now.

    Looks good to me!
I'm on a low carb diet, and I'm avoiding such things as this, right now. I love these.
Oh well, once the wedding is over, LOOK OUT!
(not mine, my daughter's) Just thought I'd clarify. LOL

For minor things, like having my shoe come untied, it is toast.  For big stuff it is bakery cake...lots of it.

For me, it's not always a particular food but a category and when I eat emotionally the first thing I want is STARCHY CARBS. It can be almost anything but I think my preference is bread. As such, bread has also been my undoing, if you will, and I've wisened up because food is definitely not the answer to life's problems.

    If only there were one!

    Macaroni and cheese
    Biscuits and gravy
    Fried potatoes
    Tomatoe sandwiches
    Grilled ( real butter) bread

    Ooey, gooyey, and cheesy...anything

My husband does not care for any of these.  I get to eat it all!

    Poor me..........

I would have to say my comfort food amounts to the first thing I make eye contact with that registers as 'bad for you' on the health scale. lol Pie, cookies, ice cream, cake, cinnamon buns... If it's for something small, it's celery with peanut butter, jello with whipped cream...

    I'm so hungry now..

Black forest gateau.  I'll eat that any day though and even better with vanilla ice cream.

I don't really think of "comfort food" the way a lot of people do, which is food they apparently think is an "evil" treat in which they indulge in order to feel better.  (For example, some people like their mother's home-made macaroni and cheese - or something like that.)

When I use food for a "down" mood, I more use it as if it were medication.  A big load of salt is what usually makes me feel better, so I'm likely to have some broth with that big load of salt dumped into it.  If salt isn't what I feel like I need, I tend to go for the fat that comes with eggs scrambled in margarine (with lots of salt and pepper on them).  Another "good" source of fat is using lots of light cream in a cup (well, actually - a lot  of cups) of coffee (not too strong).

If it weren't for salt and all that coffee with light cream in it, I probably would have killed myself years ago!   (Oh.... just kidding)

Donuts are definitely my comfort food of choice! My favorite is glazed donuts.

Well I go for a hot tub and hot drinking chocolate.  Guaranteed to get rid of the downs.
