Why is it when you wear shoes or slippers you never hurt yourself yet when you walk round the house in your socks you end up banging your feet of corners or parts of the wall and doors that you would not normally walk into? I just done it again and it hurt and am upset and not pleased with myself for doing it again. I hate myself now how dare the wall bang my toe!!!

And why does the jar of mayonnaise suddenly leap from your hands and make a direct hit on your stubby foot-fingers????

I think we should consult a therapist and dig into the correlation between self-hatred and toe-banging. I wonder which came first?

smile I needed this laugh regarding the "conspiracy." and the various responses in this thread. I also tend to be more likely to bang my toe into my trunk than softer furniture. I am not a person known to swear, but I do tend to swear when I bang my toe.

So true.  I stubbed my toe a couple of weeks ago walking down stairs.  DOWN stairs?  How did I do that?  Don't ask me!

The stairs of all places, this is one major conspiracy I am sure of it smile

I think we should investigate this thoroughly.  Toe banging must be banned!  the gremlins or something make us do it!

This is funny because I was just talking to my husband about this the other day. I always bang my toes when I am just wearing socks.  I never wear slippers because I don't feel comfortable wearing them around the house.  My husband does, and he never hurts his toes.  But here I am banging my toes around and yelping all the time.  That's funny! smile smile

I've experienced it myself - I stub my toes a lot when I wear slops. I moved a chair the other day and it crushed my big toe - blood under the nail and all.

I think you just notice the incidents more and blame it on the lack of shoes or inappropriate footwear. I probably hit things just as much with shoes but don't notice it because it hurts less, or doesn't hurt at all. We associate pain in any form with events and remember them more readily.

I agree - it should be a sport.

I think my points for toe-banging today are:

        8.7, 8.5, 8.6, 8.6, 8.6, 8.5, 8.7, and 8.1.....

The Chinese judge marked me low because I didn't hold my form long enough after I caught my toe on the edge of the cupboard sad  I shouldn't have started hopping across the kitchen so soon!

I will go for a record next time lol lol

Silver medal - given to the longest Cringe

Gold should be for when you have to get the fire brigade in to remove the mouse trap from your toe you'd forgotten you'd left beside the sink!

there's the foot slurry, slap, bang the toe move - just did it while in slippers on an even floor - I should get at least a 9!  but it didn't bring tears to my eyes, so may be only an 8.8 or even 8.7.  I honestly have never seen this one done before.  So, major epiphany here! SLIPPERs are called SLIPPERs because they tend to SLIP!  wow

why is it so funny to see someone ELSE bang their toe?  Or bump their head Or run into the furniture or any of those other minor accidents?  It's hysterical when your kids are hopping around on one foot, but funnier when an otherwise very solemn adult does it.  When I'm all alone and stub my toe, I can hear the tinkle of the little fairies laughing.  No lie!
