As I said in a previous hub, http://hubpages.com/hub/beginningblogger, I have been both surprised and grateful for the help I have been finding online in regards to writing, blogging, etc. I was curious, though, if instead of searching and reading (literally) a million different hubs if all the good info has been selected somewhere, or if there are people out there who will actually step forward and help as a sort of coach. I have seen a few sites, but finding the right info for me has been difficult. These places either are too advanced for me as of yet, or aren't hitting on the topics I need. I found one or two "writing coaches," but if I had the money to pour into this right now I either (a) would not need some of the basic help I currently do, or (b) wouldn't be doing this at all.
So, does anyone know of some truly helpful links where not just one minute subject is covered, or of people out there who are willing to help with the more basic stuff, rather than just posting a ton of forum topics?
Hubpages is working on a knowledge base but here are a few:

http://hubpages.com/hub/punctuation
http://hubpages.com/hub/duplication_vs_plagiarism
http://hubpages.com/hub/How-I-got-my-hu … first-page
http://hubpages.com/hub/Making-Moneys-Online
They may help
And if you are looking for a critique of your writing, these guys are good -and free - but you have to do the same for someone else.

http://hubpages.com/hub/duplication_vs_plagiarism
Several people have written Hubs on the technical aspects of Hubbing, too.
http://hubpages.com/hub/howhubworks
http://hubpages.com/hub/capsules
... and many more from Darkside collected together here: http://hubpages.com/hub/about
http://hubpages.com/hub/How-To-Use-An-RSS-Feed
http://hubpages.com/hub/Adding-a-link-to-hubpages
Try doing a search for "how to hubpages", and see what comes up. Some of it is low quality answers to requests, but some of it is pure gold.

Yup, I've already visited DarkSide and a few others. The wealth on information here is outstanding. I'm still reading a lot more than writing, but it's all in the details, right?
Thanks so far for the help, both here and those who have messaged me directly. Keep it coming.
With all those great articles and all these helpful people, I think I managed to take it up a notch. Ran into two snags, though.
Playing with capsules, finding photos to use, this just took WAY too long. What am I doing wrong here?
Also, mistyped the page name....I can't change that, can I? Unless I un-publish and start all over?
If anyone would care to have a look, and tell me if I'm on the right track or what I've totally done wrong, I'd appreciate it, http://hubpages.com/hub/viudeogameaddiction
Now you're talking, Cameron! Good Hub.
Playing with capsules gets faster the more you do it. I agree finding photos is a bit of a pain in the proverbial - but Flickr certainly has a good selection and it can be fun! Sometimes I even see another good photo that gives me an idea for an article.
I thought that was a very good hub, Cameron.
The capsules get easier to work with as you go...I also find that it makes a difference what computer/connection I'm using.
Thanks all. I promise not shameless self-promotion, but honest help and critiques I'm after.
Now, for the next question.
I put a lot more work into this hub than I expected to. And, let's be honest, I'm no marketing guru and it's only one hub, so I canNOT expect any time of actual ROI here.
So, would it make sense/be worth it to edit/rewrite the same article and post on other sites? Obviously, can't just post the same article, because that would be duplicate content and all, but...the same one, re-worked?
You never know when a hub's going to hit. This one seems timely and pertinent. And something a lot of parents are concerned about. I know I am. As far as publishing it somewhere else, wouldn't it just be more practical to backlink it and promote the hell out of this one?
I dunno. lol I'm asking you guys....gals....people(?). If backlinking is the way to go, I'm still trying to figure out how best to do that. I already sent out a bulletin from MySpace, and am prepping an announcement on a few forums I attend, but I'm not quite sure how well that will work. I see a lot of articles/hubs/blogs that "talk" about backlinking, but very few that actually give me a step-by-step guide or anything like that,
I'm trying to figure that out, too...I think -- don't quote me on it because I'm far from expert -- that it has to do with including a link as the signature in comments that you post elsewhere. For instance...if you go to active gaming blogs and leave comments and have a link in the 'signature' portion of the comment box...or on e-mail that you send out. Or other forum that you post to. It's kinda like leaving a trail of bread crumbs across the internet.
I keep trying to go through the Hubs on hubbing but then my head starts to spin. There's just sooooo much to learn. Then my boss seems to always want me to do something silly like, well...work.
I'm right with you/ There is a lot.
As for your boss, tell him to get a real job and leave you alone. ;-p
Hmmmm, now this is interesting. U had followed numerous people's hints and tricks on how to get a better listing, but now find that the aforementioned article isn't ranking on Google at all. I thought about it earlier this morning, and figured it might be a timing issue--requiring more time to get noticed by the bots and all, but it seems this isn't the case. I put up a dummy page on my site, which is not SEO targeted at all, and it was on Google within minutes. I have tried searching by any combination of the key words as well as direct quotes of title and particular line--nada.
Please, help. Where have I gone wrong?

My daughter, Sunstreeks, got me started on writing hubs. Almost all my hubs are about fishing. I have to start with what I know. My adsense is up to 49 cents and that is a thrill. One day it will be 59 cents and that will be an even bigger thrill. I haven't a clue what I am doing as far as the...
