On Easter Sunday I finally hit the million views checkpoint. Took a long time to get there, but it was nice reading the email HP sends you on reaching this accolade. This is a good time to thank the staff at HP, no one ever says it enough - they are doing and have always been doing a great job here.

Thanks, Eric, I celebrated with a few games of AOE just now. I do have 100k from an unpublished hub, I must add (so make it 16 hubs and not 15). This is a hub that I moved to my website, but I plan on reworking for HP. I like the URL, so I do not want to delete it.

That’s a huge accomplishment Brandon. It took me 100 hubs to get to a million views, and you did it with only 15. That’s huge! You should display your accolades in your profile to show your accomplishments. I noticed you have them hidden.

      Thanks all.

The best advice would be to make sure that your article is the best on the internet for the topic. The most detailed, but no fluff. Cover every topic that your competition covers on the specific topic you're writing about. Check the first 20 results for your keyword. Check the first 20 even if you are currently #2. You will find some sub-topics you haven't covered.

Congrats! You've been so helpful to me, it makes me extra excited for your accomplishment! WTG! You're rockin' it! You should make a video where you put an article on here and you show people step by step how to improve it and make it go up in rank just don't tell your competition about it. With all the help you give people you know many of the things people are doing wrong so you could show how to fix those things in it too. Whenever I try to learn things in these categories I find myself wandering around aimlessly in the wide world web because nothing flows straight forward...it all seems to lead me astray.

      1. Jeremy Gill profile image94
Jeremy Gillposted 5 years agoin reply to this

Hmm, mind if I ask if you have any tips about research? To find what people are searching for, do you just type the phrase into google and look for the suggestions that pop up, or is there an even better method?

        1. lobobrandon profile image89
lobobrandonposted 5 years agoin reply to this

I know what I want to write about, say watering tomatoes. Then I look up the terms people use to read up on that topic. I use https://www.answerthepublic.com (recently), ubersuggest and the Google Adwords tool. SEMRush sometimes to further improvise on articles.

But I find the best thing to do is put in your main keyword into google and read up the topics the top 20 results cover and make sure that you cover each and everything they cover (when relevant) and add your own stuff to the mix as well (again research on this to make sure you have it all covered). My hub is the tomato a fruit or a vegetable is a good example of this. I took one sentence from Wikipedia that spoke about the canning industry and wrote a paragraph on it after doing a little research myself. The same can be done for any topic.

I do not worry too much about competition anymore since the niche sites are strong and have a high authority. This is also the reason I am against the new QnA feature as I see it going against all that HP formerly believed in (strong pages with deep well explained/researched content).
