John
This piece you wrote for Ann Carr's challenge does fit this week's word prompt, " Strength."
In your poem, "The Pillars of Samson" you tell us the story about Samson & Delilah.
He confesses his secret to her while under the influence of drinking, only to find that she deceives him.
She cuts his hair off and he loses his strength.
He is tortured & tossed in prison, but in the end he gets his strength back as he ask God to help him.
(His hair had started to grow back too ~ returning his strength)
This one starts off a bit comical as you pull us in to listen to your story.
Then each detail is told with each part intense.
Samson gets vengeance upon them in the end when he causes the pillars to fall.
Great story on Strength. I've always liked that story too.
I had not heard of the video before, but I enjoyed it.
Delilah has a pull over him too...no matter the distance, it's what she does to him.
I'll post a link in the word prompt article.
Thanks Brenda for sharing John's poem. Though we know and like the story of Samson and Delilah, it was wonderful to read it in poetic form. It is a very good response to the work prompt of this week.
Thank you, Brenda. I think most people know the story of Samson and Delilah but they probably haven't read it written as poetry. Cheers.
I can't say I've ever read a poem about until now.
That's the beauty of life...always something new to learn and see.
Have a great day.
Thank you so much for sharing this, Bredz. I just read John's hub. It's super amazing. I absolutely loved the way he expressed the story. No doubts, a very perfect response to the new word prompt, 'Strength'. Loved it!
Blessings to you and John.
This really is an awesome bible story written in the form of a poem. I loved the poem. Samson's strength is remarkable, breaking off the pillars like that. This is a perfect response to the word prompt, "Strength." Kudos to John and thanks to Brenda for creating this post and bringing to our attention.
Thank you Misbah and Rosina, for reading my article/poem. I am glad you enjoyed my poetic take on the Bible story.
This information just came in from Matt:

It reminds us to never give up...even when iur strength seems to vanish.
There's always hope.
Jodah, presenting an epic story as a fascinating poem requires special skills and I find that you have done enough justice doing that. A marvellous work. Thanks for updating and making that available against the word challenge - strength.
