Do married people do what they did before marriage....alone... You know what I mean!

Of course they do. Couples dont always have perfectly matched libidos so if one wants it more than the other, there are two options - either he/she looks outside the marriage or...

I'm not sure who gets to decide whether peanut butter sammiches are forbidden in the first place...

There's not point in letting yourself go hungry just the same.

Yes they do!!! I do and I know my husband does. Masturbation is normal and let's face it we all have needs at different times. My husband goes on business trips and thats when I bring out my " Purple people eater" as I call it. I love my husband but sometimes it's easier to get off without him. It's completely normal and more power to you.

    1. bgamall profile image67
bgamallposted 14 years agoin reply to this

Diddle is a word not commonly used. It may come from the word "didder" which means to shake rapidly. I am fascinated about the origin of words and how they sometimes stray from their original meanings.

If that sounds scientific and erudite that was the plan:)

I have never enjoyed it one bit alone, I always MUST have a partner, for me, alone is a waste of time because it does nothing for me..maybe from childhood abuse or maybe its something wrong with my body or psychological..who knows..
but even before marriage I always had to have a male partner

When you're 50, have a heart condition and your husband works constantly, it is sometimes all you have to look forward to...plus, sometimes, when I'm sleeping, my body decides to "use itself" if you will-compare it to an adolescent young man sleeping and you will get the idea. My sister thought it was hysterical when I told her my body "had sex with itself"!

Men have been doing this since early puberty.  It's not a habit they give up for marriage, any more than they give up drinking, smoking, gambling, or leaving dirty dishes in the sink.  It's essential for their sense of well-being and their prostate health.  As for women, I don't do it since I got married because my husband is always ready, willing, and able, so why would I bother?  But I'm sure some day it may become relevant.  When you have a six month old infant, you don't think about it much.
