I wrote it in my 2010 Calendar a year ago, so I would know when I hit my one year mark. I was figuring out what I wanted to accomplish tomorrow and when I turned the page I saw the 1 year notation and my goals for the year.
A year ago my goals were 300 hubs and make $500 a month - and get a lot of cheap backlinks to other sites. (The last part is a distant memory)
I'm pleased to say that Nelle and her sisters (I didn't count on developing multiple personalities.) have written almost 600 hubs and made just over $1,000 a month on average when everything is added up. Of course the real money started coming in November and has continued to increase.
There's nothing fancy in my method - write lots of hubs that sell stuff. Focus on the money in the bank. Everything else is just talk.
I would like to thank KCCBigCountry for her first monthly HubChallenge that I joined in on. It really gave me the momentum boost to start writing lots of hubs every day. And I still believe writing a hub everyday is the best way to learn at HP.
Last December I shared my affiliate marketing miseries with Mark Knowles and Dale Mazurek. And the company was much appreciated.
Sunforged, RyanKett, Thisisoli, and livewithrichard have made me feel like a kid again. I so enjoy your enthusiasm, drive and knowledge. I always look for your posts (or in Ryan's case, his emails.)
And of course the HP Team - In almost 10 years of online marketing this is the easiest place to make money that I've found online. It is a pleasure to spend time here every day. Your plan and website optimization are simply brilliant. Thank you so much.
that is awesome! I always check out your new hubs! thanks for the inspiration!
Wow time flies when you're having fun no? I'm happy to be a fan.
really?
wow, i had always assumed you had been here way longer than that but...there it is, 12 months ago. amazing. your success is stunnng.
congratulations! (and those dudes you mentioned, (plus Darkside) are awesome and definitely deserve all the accolades they get.)
What do you mean?
You :- "I wrote my first hub a year ago today"

Congratulations Nelle! May you achieve bigger milestones in your second year!
Incidentally, I wrote my LAST hub about an year back, and came back to add another one today. Hope to continue the journey!

Congratulations on celebrating such a successful anniversary, Nelle!
Congrats Nelle! More power to you and to your sisters! I hope we'll all be around next year to read about your triumphs here in HP.
Happy Hubbirthday, Nelle!
Your success is well deserved. Not only do you work hard, you also encourage other hubbers in their efforts.
That is wonderful Nellie! You have been so generous with other hubbers here, and very open, I feel sure many appreciate it.
Thanks Nelle from me too. You are an inspiration to all of us! In fact I am in awe of anyone who can write 600 hubs inside a year! What a fantastic achievement!
But really much more than the writing of a lot of hubs, you write hubs that work! I wish I knew the secret LOL, but you keep telling us and it's not sinking in...
So congratulations girl! You rock!
600 hubs in 1 year and over $1000/month is a tremendous achievement. Congratulations Nelle!!!
Yaaayyy! Congrats and happy anniversary Nelle! (pops open the champagne)!
Congratulations and more years and more hubs, plus more earnings!
Congratulations Nelle! And, not just on the hubs and the $ (although those are major!) but on taking the time to be here as a friend and advisor for all of us less experienced hubbers as well. Happy Anniversary and here's to your continued success.
Happy Hubbing Anniversary, Nelle. I've said it before and I'll say it again - you are an inspiration to so many here and I personally thank you for all you've done to help me out! I only wish I could do the quantity of hubs that you manage to do! I'll get there someday, maybe.
Thanks for sharing!
Thanks guys. I just can't believe that it's been a whole year. That's why I write things in a calendar because I lose track of time.
This is really the first time in all my time online that I've ever been part of a community - and I have to say that I really do love it here.
You now know the potential.
You now have a head start.
Knowing what you know now do you think 4 or 5 thousand dollars a month is out of the question.
I know if anyone can do it you can. I dont think I have met anyone more dedicated than you.
Congrats on a great year and I know the next will be way better.
Dale
Dale I think $5,000 a month is possible - in fact that is my goal for next year. (Just wrote it in the 2011 calendar.)
The only downside to HP is the limited monetization. All 3 of these programs can be draconian in the way they treat affiliates. I think HP needs to find 1 or 2 more broad-based affiliate programs that would welcome hubbers.
So, $5,000 is possible, if I don't get kicked out of any one of them.
Nelle You are a true inspiration to all of us. Thank-you and Happy Anniversery.
Congrats Nelle I'm about 35 days behind you. Time sure flies when you're having fun. And that's the key to survival on Hubpages. If you're not having fun doing what you do then you're going to struggle being successful here. My tips:
1. Set goals and start with small ones and build from there.
2. Avoid distractions as much as possible during your productive time (forums).
3. Be consistent - in my case I write both info and product hubs under the same id so my readers can see that I practice what I preach.
4. Always be on the lookout for tips and tricks of the trade (internet marketing) and share what works.
5. Accept criticism and critiques for what they are so you can continually improve upon your objectives.
It's a two-way street here. Being part of a community here, really does keep the stress level of this business in check.
I couldnt agree more, plus you can make a statement about how your CTR has increased or why hubpage is the best in regards to your ROI compared top all online publishing platforms without watching your listener go cross eyed!
You have def made a huge and positive contribution to the morale in this community, glad to share it with you.
Congratulations on your one year anniversary Nelle! I'm very happy for you!
Congratulations Nelle. You so deserve to make that kind of money. I would be happy to get to the $100 a month mark.
But seriously, thank you for posting this, as my family and friends think I am wasting my time. I can show them you, and they will see.
Thank you for posting this. Any chance you might write a hub on how you achieved this milestone? or have you already? I do not know who your other personas are and I am new and eager to learn.
You're not wasting your time. There really isn't any magic. Treat Hubpages like a business. Develop a hubbing schedule and stick to it. When you write a hub, think about the person reading it, is there anything in the Hub that would inspire him or her to buy it or click on an ad to learn more about it.
Thanks Nelle, I just figured out how to get Amazon up and running, so hopefully that will help. I wish I had spent the three months before getting laid off on this site, unfortunately I was scared to try as everything I found before was a scam.
I will look at my writing a bit differently and see how I can encourage some clicks. Thanks again!
Nelle, you are my hero. Congratulations on your success.
I tried writing on the internet in the past and got nowhere; now I am on pace to earn my first Google payout before the end of March. HubPages really does work.
I look forward to your hubs and even checked out some of your blogs/sites. You have a firm grasp on how to make money writing online. You inspire a whole crowd on admirers.
I wish you greater succees in the future.
Thank you for the very kind words Keith. I hope my example helps everyone pay the food and oil bill. It's a hard world out there. We all gotta stick together me thinks.
Congratulations.... it's inspiring to hear about your success story and I'm sure it gives hope to a lot of people here who doubt if it's possible to make any substantial money here. What they often overlook is how much hard work it takes, and you've shown how the right amount of time and effort, can really make it all happen. Keep up the good work...!
Congratulations on your 1 yr anniversary Nelle! You've been a big inspiration for us all. Everyone dreams of achieving your level of success, but few of us put in the time and effort that you do. You deserve every bit of your success. Keep up the fantastic work!
wow!! Amazing! you are an inspiration to me!! Heads off to write another hub.... going on 8 hubs! slightly off 600 hehehe
Kudos! You are my HP idol. Hope to even have a little of your success by my first year anniversary.
I sold my first Amazon product, so I am now also on the path to glory!!!!
I sold a pair of hair straighteners. I didn't write about them, but someone probably clicked on my link for a stocktrading book, got bored, and bought hair straighteners lol.

I received notification today that this is my 11th Hubbiversary. Seems hard to believe. I remember when I first joined HP. I posted mostly poetry at the time. I was always thrilled each time I was notified of new followers. Oooh - I have five followers! Twenty! Thirty! I was so green. With the help...

Well, I decided to write the title but not the hub, lol. Seriously, what kind of traffic would it get anyway, . So I decided to celebrate my 2-year anniversary in a forum post by sharing tidbits I've learned along the way. Hopefully, it will help HP newcomers/Squidoo transfers on the journey to a...

Just got a message from HP saying I turned 1! It's been an amazing journey and there have been plenty of changes when I think about it. Here's to one more!

I received my e-mail today saying that I had reached the 2 year milestone. I just want to say to all my fellow hubbers who have made my journey a great one - Thanks! I don't think I would have stuck around so long if it was not for the inspiration, motivation and lots of good fun that I have...
