I made a career change four years ago.  Ever since I've gained weight.  This year?  Yep!!!  I only hope and pray that I'll succeed in weight loss in 2012.  I never realized how much a career change can affect body metabolism.

I had spent the last few months writing hubs and eating in front of the computer, and gained a couple of pounds. I am ok with that because I am still underweight.

I have had friends who have battled with weight issues and it was not easy for them. Some people seem to eat less than others and still put on weight. I have been fortunate, but it I do know that some women go through a lot to lose weight and sometimes in order to fit a 'body image' that is not realistic.

    supergoodposted 12 years ago

@2uesday, yes it's true, some people are lucky to eat as much as they can but still they keep their perfect form. It has much to do with the genetics.

Gained. sad I'm also at an age where I can't take my weight for granted. It used to be that keeping the weight off was effortless; now there's considerable effort involved. tongue

I'm trying tracking my calories using this app called Lose It, and it says if all goes well, I should reach my goal weight by May.

I lost 20 pounds and believe that climbing stairs did it. I live 3 flights up and have an elevator, but decided to try the stairs as often as I can. This adds up to once or twice a day and it's not hard at all.

I lost 20 pounds and think that is was all about climbing three flights of stairs a couple of times every day, instead of using the elevator all the time. I also don't eat and snack all day. A lot of foods are toxic to me, so I have to truly be hungry in order to eat something.

What's in extra pounds? Just be merry! Not true.
And No, it's not me. And I never was like that. Max I was - 83 kg after my first baby when I started accelerating my unwanted weight. I could've been like that but I put mental stop on that acceleration. It was one long and painful process because I knew zilch about nutrition. Yes, it's in your genetics and what food you prefer, stress and lots of other factors, but you can fight that. Last year(or was it the year before?) I threw away my rusty scales. I do not need them to keep me in shape. I know what I can and CANNOT EAT, if I want normal weight. Your weight is your choice as almost everything in life. And if you want to lose a couple or more pounds - you start with your dinner menu, NOT WITH GYM. You even do not need gym if you want to save money - you can do simple aerobic and walking/jogging/swimming/whatever,any exercise, but first EAT RIGHT,real food - not sugary fatty junk pig style. Let your body to get used to it. It will need some time and little effort. I will never going to gain weight again, because I know how to control it with my plate, spoon and fork. It's very powerful feeling, I love it.

I was on Weight Watchers last fall and broke my scale when trying to put in a new battery. Anyway, that happened in December and I just bought a new scale and had sadly gained 10 lbs in one month. That's what happens when you figure you'll go all out for the holidays! Not as bad as the year I went on birth control and gained 30 lbs though...

I have the opposite problem! I keep losing weight! I'm down to 92lbs, and trying to gain some weight back.
Why do all the shows on T.V. have programs about, "How to Lose Weight?". Why not, "How to Gain Weight Correctly?" I have written to different shows with that question. Still, no results. After being Anorexic since 1976, it's hard to eat. Any suggestions?

Add 500 calories/day to your diet or 3500 calories/week.  Also, do more strength training and walking type exercises to build muscle. Muscle weighs more than fat.  Good luck.

I lost FAT but I didn't lose weight.  I increased my weight in fact.  Muscle weighs more than fat.  The scale is a poor tool for measuring health.  Poor tool for measuring appearance for that matter.

People need to strike the term "lose weight" from their vocabulary and start saying "lose fat" because the two are very different things.  I could tear out all of your bones form your body and you'd lose a lot of weight...but you'd probably not be happy with the way you look.
