More stuff that is not surprising.I would like to know how many agree with this.
Actually, I have heard that, except about if Obama wins, right here on the hubpages. They were saying how they would never get behind him, the country would stay divided and never heal if he goes back in. I find it disgusting and shameful on both sides! We have lost our manners in this country! The office of President of th United States used to be honored and respected whether you were a D or an R ! It's disgusting the acceptable behavior of today!
Haven't seen that from the right yet but there will for sure be some.
I agree. No matter who wins, we Americans should all remember that we're Americans. We can disagree with our leaders without being nasty.
What you heard is true. People respect the office but not Obama. People have to earn respect Tammy and Obama is quite lacking.
I am more concerned about rightwing reaction if Obama wins another term
Well, JS, Govenor Perry more than once spoke of the idea of secession. Who are the people that say "lets take the country back"? The rightwingers are natural anarchists and insurrectionists who accept the idea of popular sovereignty only as long as they get what they want. Since when have the left been its equal since the 1960/s?
Secession isn't rioting Credence. When joining the union Texas reserved the right to secede. We here in Texas understand that right. Evidently you don't?
FP, So you emphasize and preserve that so called right to do what would be treason for any of the other 49 states. What prompts this at this time in over almost 170 years since statehood? Is it the Black Socialist president?. If you see yourself as a 'whole 'nother country' maybe that is what you should return to, and Oklahoma will probably want to come along with you? I find the concept provocative, in itself, even though that may well be your Texas style.
Cred
How are you my friend.
Just want to point out a quick fact here, talk about Texas leaving goes back to when Ann Richards(D) was Governor. Rick Perry was making strong serious statement of leaving when Bush was President. So you see, it has nothing to do with Obama. I am sure the talk will continue if Romney wins as well.
There are many reasons behind the movement and honestly Cred, some make really good sense. But in reality, I do not see that move ever happening.
AHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHAHH
Sorry I am just checking the scars I have from being in peaceful protests.
Yeah....i Stand by it because who started it?
Hmm?
...Perhaps you dint read this. Peaceful protests that were attacked, usually by armed bikers against unarmed protesters, especially in the Vietnam war rallies.
I guess so you probably don't know because you weren't there, especially not at the civil rights protests huh?
liberalism in America is synonymous with mob violence. The Weathermen, Green peace (laughable name), Eco terrorists, PETA, SEIU, and OWS are anything but peaceful movements.
Lets see now, who was throwing the hoses on the protesters? Oh yeah the liberals, George Wallace, Bull Connor, Orval Faubus. All Democrats. And of course the head of the malicious mob of peaceful protesters, Republican Martin Luther King.
The closest thing America has seen to mob of the French revolution is the race riots of the sixties which were lead by far left liberal Democrats. Starting with idiot protesters at U.C. Berkeley firebombing buildings and attacking police in 1964, along with (of course) violent protests at Obama's old stomping grounds, Columbia University. Home of the Frankfurt School for Marxism.
For liberals guys like Reverend Al Sharpton after inciting numerous riots and spewing out racist rhetoric you get your own prime time spot on MSNBC.
Just look at the assassination attempts on government officials which have been carried out by some left leaning lunatic. John Wilks Booth hated Republicans, Charles J Guiteau (who shot President Garfield) had a long relationship with the "Oneida community", Leon Gonzales (who killed President McKinley) was a socialist, Guisseppe Zangara (who plotted to assassinate Hoover) despised capitalism, Lee Harvey Oswald- Commie, Lynette Fromme tried to kill Ford because "The government declared war on the left" Robert Kennedy was killed because he supported Israel, senator Leo Ryan was killed by a left wing cult, on and on and on. The Arab world is currently on fire and the president and his cabinet gives them all a high five for random acts of mob "justice".
You guys are both just so hilarious, please don't stop. John Wilkes Booth was a confederate loyalist hardly a leftist movement.
Want to talk terrorist groups? Alpha 66, Army of God, Aryan Nations, KKK, The Covenant, The Sword, and the Arm of the Lord, The Order, The Phineas Priesthood.
Attacks? Bath bombings Michigan killed 40, Timothy McVeigh killed 168 people, the Austin IRS attack, Knoxville Unitarian Church Shooting not to mention several killings of abortion doctors and abortion clinics bombings.
By numbers of victims or numbers of groups or numbers of attacks it's the right with a solid lead.
Josak I never even heard of most of those and the Ausitin guy was an Obama supporter.
The KKK was founded by liberal democrats who liberally interpreted the founding documents of America for the purpose of oppressing people of other races.
That's how liberals work when interpreting laws. They liberally interpret things like life,(Except for unborn babies) liberty, (Welfare dependence), and the pursuit of happiness (with a side of social justice). Quite contrary to the idea of declaring independence.
The fallacious Idea that the parties switched sides in the 60's is ludicrous. It was the democrat party that decided to change their strategy from racism to race baiting. The conservatives have stayed the same throughout American history, they just don't pander to special interest groups.
And Timothy McVeigh? He must have been a conservative since he was a white guy with guns. Never mind the fact that he was a drugged out agnostic who said "Science is my religion". He sounds more like Janeane Garofalo.
KKK was founded by Confederate loyalists and christian extremists. Now if I were to go to any one of the "The south will rise again" forums how many Obama voters do you think I would find there? Where did the KKK hold most sway? The south and where is the Republican power base? Remarkably its actually the same states.
Of course the KKK isn't going to vote for Obama. That doesn't mean they are going to rush to the polls to vote conservative. The conservative premise is fundamentally in opposition to their cause. That's why they're called extremists (You will note also that the KKK has caused the most damage when it was fully supported by the Democrats). Their current membership is around a few thousand, hardly the makeup of the Republican party, if any of them are even registered voters.
But the Democratic platform is to follow the mob because that is where they seek power. Whether they are demagoguing white voters with claims that the big bad republicans are the party of blacks, to demagoguing black voters telling them Republicans are the party of racists, it solely depends on where the storm lies.
It's textbook Saul Alynski tactics that move them. After all, "you don't let a crisis go to waste" according to Rahm Emanuel of Chicago. Democrats simply switched mobs. They will champion any group of rabble rousers they can find in order to obtain power.
Bull Connor is the classic example of a liberal Democrat. He was described as a man who didn't really believe in anything, and a political opportunist who used opposition to integration to try to get himself ahead. Nothing more.
The conservatives have stayed the same throughout American history, they just don't pander to special interest group
Now come on, Onusonus, are you SERIOUSLY suggesting that the Repubs dont' pander to special interest groups? Because if you are, you are truly naive. BOTH parties pander to special interests. They'd never reach the lofty heights of Government if they didn't.
No matter who wins it won't change the country all that much. I think we need to be more thoughtful about who we elect to Congress, as they do absolutely nothing. It's not fair to say Obama took a "my way or the highway" approach. The R's decided they wanted him out of office from day One, would oppose anything he suggested, and there was no hope of any bipartisan action no matter what Obama did. Romney is a blatant liar, who changes his opinions so much, now he doesn't even seem to remember his own positions. He was of age to serve in Vietnam, but got out of it. I really hope there are no riots, and think we are all better than that. It's going to be a close election, and when it's over, our country will be as divided as ever. That's the sad part. Nobody cares about our country anymore. The R's want to cut education, are lying about pre-existing conditions in the health care bill, they want to give us vouchers that will be for such little money they will be useless, and want to shut down Planned Parenthood, a place where poor women get mammograms and pap smears. The only people who will prosper are the most prosperous. We won't even be able to deduct our mortagage interest from our income tax, or our charitable donations, unless we can afford to be in the Romney tax bracket. What will I do when my car elevator breaks down? Will I have to walk all the way to the garage?
I'm interested in the end of the mortgage deduction. Please post a link from a reputable source. The only thing I can find is his suggestion about eliminating the deduction for vacation homes. I read where he threw out an amount to limit the mortgage interest deduction to $17,000, which seems pretty reasonable to me. We have a hefty mortgage, and our interest is nowhere near that per year.
Habee,
I only heard it in passing, and though we don't pay more than about $10,000 a yr (though it's a one lane road and we still have septic, it's too rocky to blast for sewers) I do have friends a few blocks away that pay in excess of K18 a year in Mortgage interest. It's NJ, so we do have the highest rates. It would be a terrible hardship on NJ people if they couldn't deduct their mortgage interest. I will look into the source more and get back to you.
Thanks. I was just on a mortgage/banking site, and it said the average yearly interest for a $400,000 mortgage is around $15,000 per year. In my neck of the woods, a home like that would be a mansion! I realize, however, we have low home prices in my area, so Romney's suggestion would only force the very rich to pay more in taxes - here, at least. What would $400,000 buy in NJ?
In an interview Monday night with Denver TV station KDVR, Romney said, "As an option you could say everybody's going to get up to a $17,000 deduction. And you could use your charitable deduction, your home mortgage deduction, or others — your health care deduction, and you can fill that bucket, if you will, that $17,000 bucket that way. And higher income people might have a lower number."
A person in northern NJ with a $400,000.00 home would pay over $18,000.00 in taxes. And then is there room in that "bucket" for college loans, or excess medical costs which are only covered in our state taxes? In the past 5 yrs. or so, a home in that price range is more reasonable, it would be a bi-level, 3-4 BR home, 2-3 bathroom, with a nice sized kitchen, living and family room, a yard, a detached garage, and nice landscaping. Before the banks stopped giving loans to people who couldn't afford them though, age restricted townhomes for people 55+ were the big thing in NJ. Those were small, two BR's, kitchen, living room, small office, underground parking and a pool. Association fees were included so the grounds looked nice and snow removal and landscaping were not issues. But since we are about 45 mins. from NY, buying one a few towns over could cost you $800,000 in Wayne instead of $400,000 in Wanaque. So people could be hurt badly by this lack of deductions.
Timothy McVeigh was a registered Republican.
The simple reality is this, racism is geographic, it stays in certain areas and in most cases is passed down from generation to generation, unfortunately there are a group of people in the deep South that have been passing on that tradition for a very long time, polls etc. consistently show where the racism is, it doesn't move, the Democratic party in the past controlled that region, no longer a sit moved away from that view the Republican party filled the space. It's no secret which party controls the deep South.
Which states supported slavery and indeed fought for the right to own slaves? Yup predominantly Red States.
Which States had the strongest opposition to desegregation? The Red states of course.
What States have the lowest proportion of interracial marriages? The Red states.
What States have the highest polling for making interracial marriage illegal? Oh the Red states. 29% of Mississippi and 21% of Alabama think it should be ILLEGAL almost 50% and 40% Respectively think it's a bad thing.
52% of Mississippi residents believe Obama is a Muslim and 45% of Arizona Residents do too. (Oh I know this isn't racist right?)
Less than 0.7% of Tea Party members are black.
Which states have the greatest disparity in wealth between whites and blacks? You guessed it.. Red states.
What group of people is statistically most likely to think interracial marriage is a bad thing? White voters over the age of 50 particularly in the South. Which Demographic does the GOP absolutely dominate? White voters over the age of 50 in the South! Amazing coincidence right?
But of course the greatest proof is the vote, minorities who are in the best place to judge figured you guys out ages ago which is why minorities despite strong religious affiliation always vote to the left.
Keep telling yourselves the left is racist, you aren't fooling anyone. Certainly not fooling anyone old enough to remember the civil rights movement.
Yet I don't see any legislation being pushed through to reinstate liberal segregation laws, Jim Crow, slavery, dread Scott, revocation of civil rights, denial of forty acres and a mule, anti-miscegenation, or eugenics. All laws that were initiated by liberals, and none of which are on the Republican plate, they never have been and never will be.
But all day long liberal commentators and the liberal media talk about non existent racial issues in order to divide and conquer. Despite the fact that all of the fortune 500 companies have policies aimed at hiring and promoting minorities, and woe be unto anybody who would ad hear to a traditional standard of hiring, like, oh I don't know, the best person for the job.
We saw this most recently during the Treyvon Martin case when the media called Zimmerman a, "White Hispanic". Well I guarantee they would have called him something else if he were receiving the Nobel prize and "White" wouldn't be in the equation. And then they edited the tape to make him sound like a racist.
And what's their solution to this imaginary racism? Afirmative action. Which in its self is a system that treats people differently based solely on the color of their skin. Hmmm more government mandated discrimination from the left.
Even when Eric Holder demanded that the testing be lowered for the Daton, Ohio PD because too few African Americans had passed the test, the head of the local NAACP called it a threat to public safety.
Eric Holder calls us cowards for not talking about race, and then calls us racists if we do.
How about cutting the crap, Onusonus. You people disgust me with your obvious distortions of the facts, where you insult all by presenting it as if it has any credibility whatsoever. Is it any wonder that the political right are seen as nutcases discredited by more and more demographics across the country?.
Wow the truth really bugs the crap out of you guys doesn't it?
We put up with that kind of stuff all day every day.
Well that's not very "tolerant" of you, but I suppose liberal "tolerance" only applies to liberal agendas. Sorry to debunk your liberal programming with those pesky little historical facts.
Rioting solves nothing. I can, though, if Romney wins, express my differences with him and hope I have a small impact and sway a few votes away from him next term.
You mean like all of those folks running around buying guns and ammo and getting ready for some war? If Obama loses (and he won't), the republicans/conservatives will have another four years of expressing their racism, hanging chairs from trees, and scaring white folks (sort of like what you're doing with this hub)...
Hahah, just another attempt to try and rile people up. Most of the stuff posted on Twitter is meaningless jibberish. This trending topic (or at least I assume it was a trending topic) will soon fade away to be replaced by something else that is equally as ridiculous.
@PP LOL That is too funny. Oddly though, pretty accurate. It is just a scare tactic. They used it to try to influence the OJ jury. They used it to try to influence the outcome of the officers in the Rodney King case. They are using it in the Zimmerman case as well. Now, they will use it to try to get the American people to change their vote. Let them riot if Romney wins. And let them pay the consequences as well.
So, you really are scared of liberals? LOL
I was trying to make a point about JS' headline about how "the left is gonna riot." It isn't "the left"; it is a few testosterone-fueled (to use Habee's concept) hot heads tweeting and posting because it makes them feel puffed-up and less powerless.
It happens at every election and our primary response should be to publicly ignore it and quietly work toward discouraging and preventing violence from either side.
@PP Nah, I'm not scared of liberals. I meant that is the idea behind the tactic of riot threats. If you read the twitter responses, I think perhaps only about 1% (if even that many) of them are serious and the rest poking fun. I don't recall threats of violence at every election though. Protests, perhaps, but not violence.
JS Chams, Saying Democrats will riot is just another put down by the Republicans again! I have seen more lies this election than any in my lifetime. I've voted both ways, because I am an Independent, but this election has turned me completely against voting Republican, because of the tactics used.
@barbara kay If you actually read the link, you'll see that JS isn't saying anything. The liberals are saying it all themselves. You might do a little research into things before you use the "lie" word even though I know it's a popular rhetoric theme with Obama these days. You'll see there's a whole lot of lying coming out of this Administration as a whole.
Barbara, I am not saying they will
Some of them are saying they will. i am just telling you that they said it. If they are lying then they are lying and not me.
Not sure if you were speaking to me, but it is not about what I believe, it is about fact:
"Significantly nonexistent afterwards was rioting, looting and burning of businesses, or attacks on hapless victims. After all, a black man had received justice, so-called.
Not so when the jury in the trial of police officers involved in the beating of defiant motorist Rodney King in Los Angeles failed to elicit the verdicts minorities were clamoring for.
In the days following that trial, blacks and Hispanics took to the streets of the L.A. basin killing, burning, rampaging, and robbing, feeling “they” had been denied justice..."
That is a FACT. That is what happened. Referenced in an article by a Black writer warning of the same if Zimmerman is not convicted.
source: http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-blo … 4976/posts
It is an "if you don't do what we want you to do we will burn and pillage" threat.
I think some of you men here are experiencing testosterone poisoning. BOTH sides have violent fringe groups. Of course, the ones from the right are usually better armed. You know, the 2nd Amendment and all...lol
I'm sure (and I fervently HOPE) that for the most part, talk about riot and rebellion is just that - talk. Remember all the Americans who were going to leave the country if Obama won in 2008? Most of them are still here. I really hate to say this, but I don't think the average citizen will see a huge difference, regardless of who wins the election. I support Romney, but I'm not expecting him to be able to implement major changes IF he were to somehow win. We still have that pesky little thing called "Congress."
I agree with you. Our government has been sold out to the highest bidder. It doesn't matter who wins. The special interests and corporations are running the country in their best interests. We no longer have a democracy that is representation by the people. It's representation by which big moneyed interest is paying the most for a politicians campaign.
Just maybe, President Romney would actually consult that pesky Congress instead of governing as a dictator?
The majority of the current congress needs to be kicked to curb! No matter which way you lean.
Maybe if those republicans didn't filibuster everything that came their way maybe something would have gotten done... According to Norquist, all they want is someone who can sign a bill and go on vacation, they don't care if they can think or not, and Romney fits that bill...
I completely agree with Habee that no matter who wins, we won't see any changes. I won't be voting for Romney though.
blenus:

Or, perhaps Obama could have compromised instead of the myway or the highway attitude. Someone had to stall this abysmal failure of an administration! It is not like the Democrats were wiling to compromise!
Besides, dictator Obama circumvented Congress every chance he got!
Do you people get the big book of Right Wing Lies every morning, then choose one to publish in forums? What a whack job theory this one is. Very entertaining. I'm more worried about duke and bubba and their collection of guns in their truck.
The media hype has become bigger than the election itself. The campaign should start and finish in six weeks, and there should be free TV access to both candidates. And it should be illegal to publish poll numbers. Matt Taibbi
Instead we hear this constant horse race mentality, relentless back and forth carnage between the candidates, and millions of dollars are spent on further dividing our country. I know family members who won't speak to each other. We need to find a better way of electing our President.
A one day primary for both parties would be one way to fix a lot of this mess. If it was all over in one day it would sure beat what we have now.
You know I've always wondered what we don't see on CNN when they show Obama or Romney over and over for 12 hours. What earth shaking story are we missing.
And " Movingout " I agree with you 100 percent. All the money spent on this could be used for fixing our roads , creating jobs and many other things.
I don't trust either of our great political parties. I think we should be allowed to vote for none of the above. A couple of wins by none of the above might change a few things.

Good for Soledad O'Brien!CNN anchor Soledad O'Brien debunked the pervasive right-wing media falsehood that President Obama "stole $700 billion" from Medicare. Right-wing media have repeatedly claimed that the Medicare savings included in Obama's Affordable Care Act (ACA)...
