It is to me. It is nauseating mostly, because most people really do get how racist they come off.

I have a son, and he is starting to question this racist crap, and I just do not want to explain this stuff to him yet.  Again, this -- pretend issue -- is nauseating.

    What are your thoughts?

IS RACE THE ISSUE SOME QUESTION PRESIDENT OBAMA'S CITIZENSHIP?

I honestly don't think so.  I think the reason people have questions about him in general is the things we do know are often so troubling and outside of the experience of most Americans.

His church affiliation with a pastor who made anti-American statements after 9/11 and whose entire ministry is built on anti-white Black Liberation theology is troubling.

The removal of his flag lapel pin after 9/11?  Troubling.

      His association with ACORN.  Troubling.

His Communist mentor, Frank Marshall Davis?  Troubling.

His confused and unusual upbringing by a left-leaning family who encouraged his relationship with the hard drinking, America hating Davis? Troubling.

His failure to make available his school records which every other president to my knowledge has made available?  Troubling.

Having a foreign born father who was not a citizen of the United States?  Odd.

Six other presidents had foreign born fathers, one had both parents foreign born, but they all became citizens and the presidents were born to these American citizens.

It is true, Barack Obama, is the most exotic president we have had in many respects.  But I think what makes people wonder about him is that so often the things we DO learn turn out to cause disquiet.

If what we know is troubling and disconcerting, what about the information that is being withheld?

Mysteries abound.  The mutiple social security numbers.  The social security number he does use which was issued in Connecticut, a state where he has never lived.  His mother excluding him as her dependent on her passport or repatriation application when she was in Indonesia.   The adoption of Barack Obama by Lolo Soetero which would have required his Hawaiian birth certificate to reflect his new last name, Soetero, by law.

Too many mysteries about this man.  No matter what color he is.

Add to that the continuing insults Americans feel from Barack Obama.

This recent invitation to the White House of a man highly respected in some circles for his music or poetry, but who nevertheless has clearly and openly praised and supported a person who killed a police officer and who is clearly a bigot by his own words against interracial marriage is seen by many as just the latest example in a continuing pattern of disrespect.

If it is not disrespect then is it that he is so steeped in and loyal to the black culture he chose to adopt, and antagonistic toward white culture that these actions don't even raise a blip on his radar.  If that were the case then he must be culturally isolated despite his many associations with white people from many walks of life and places in society.  I can't believe he doesn't understand he is dissing Americans

My personal discomfort with Barack Obama has to do with the racism HE shows toward Americans.  There are more examples and I could go on.

Really? To me they sounded like legitimate concerns and questions. What I think is troubling is your linking opposition to Obama as racism.  I think many confuse the two. The way I see it is Obama is being treated the same by his opposition regardless of color and that is a testament to a lack of racism. Racism would be treating him differently simply because he is black.

I'm not sure I'd have to research it. In any case to be president of the USA you have to be a natural citizen, color isn't a requirement, that's the law. Apparently there were legitimate questions about Obama's eligibility which could have been put to rest years ago by showing his birth certificate. For some reason he refused to do so until recently so he must have had a reason for promoting the unecessary controversey.

You're right, Deborah, Obama is half white and he wasn't raised in black America.

He chose to embrace that aspect of the black experience in America that emphasizes social justice.  He signed on to live within the subset of African Americans who embrace Black Liberation Theology.  Within that social and political culture is where he chose to seek political power in order to pursue an agenda of wealth redistribution.

The issue was people like you refused to accept it, over and over again...and still do. What is the reason you refused to accept it? Hmm...the scary name or the black skin? I wonder.

I have noticed that since Obama has become President the term Racist has made a huge rebound.  It has been used to describe anyone who disagrees with the man and his political views.  I'm sorry but don't we live in America where I can have my own thoughts about the President?  I don't think it had anything to do with race.  It had more to do with him wanting to hide everything about his past.    When you go out of your way to hide all the information and spending large amounts of money to keep it hidden then yes it is going to raise flags.  It doesn't matter if your are black, white, purple or green.

No, not for me. Its about politics. I supported Alan Keyes nearly 15 years ago a black conservative presidential candidate. I don't believe blacks just wanted a black president, I think they wanted a democrat first and a black democrat second. Alan Keyes got very little support from the black community. When Obama ran the black vote broke all previous voting records. Its not about race, on either side of the fence.  However I am sure it can be for some depending on their individual situation. I cannot judge walking in another's shoes.

Hello N.E.  I personally believe race is not that much an issue. Yes you will have some that hate, Black, white, yellow it doesn't matter. If we truly had a race problem Obama could not be president. I just hate when people try and use race as a reason why I do not like Obama as President. I do not like his policies and what he believes in. I think all this throwing about race is causing more of a problem. Just teach your son that everyone is the same regardless of the color of your skin. My kids asked me years ago when they were young and I told them that years ago some people lived in a different parts of the world and sometimes when the weather was hot our bodies have protective defenses and over many many years the skin gets darker to help protect against the sun. That is why some Indians and Spanish people also have dark skin. I truly do not know if that was the proper answer but it did seem to work for me.

There was a short lived income tax assessed during the Civil War.  Unlike law makers of the mid-19th century, lawmakers in the 20th century have never met a tax they didn't want to extend in perpetuity.

I don't like Barack Obama because he is bent on fundamentally changing this country toward a more socialistic model of bigger government and more top down control.  I don't like big government and I think government in general is subject to corruption at every level, opaque, and retarded in the true sense of that word.

"The government that governs least, governs best."

But go ahead, as I know you will, shout racist all day long.  It also works to block out inconvenient truth if you simply cover your ears and sing, "lalalalalalalalalalalala."

That would deny you the sublime pleasure of insult of course.

Ann is right. Obama is a revolutionary. Always has been, always will be. It was out there to see before he was elected, and who he has chosen to represent him since he was elected just proved what many of us already knew. I've done backgrounds on everyone he appointed. All are radicals. If you like that, fine. But let's not pretend it is not who he is, and what his vision for the country is.

Obama is hardly a revolutionary. He's a very cautious, pragmatic moderate Democrat.

And what good does it do anyone to frame debates in jargonesque patois that appeals to mindless legions of voters who intone concepts like "smaller government", lower taxes and balanced budgets without attending to the results of their rhetoric? How can differences ever be reconciled when they are never clearly enunciated?"

Why do the far left always bring race when real concerns and obvious issues of Obama surface? He is half white and actually brought up by the white side of his family, They were white communists, His father believed in anti-colonialism, His friends are socialist/Marxists, He states many of these things in his books. His church of 20 years is Anti-American. He was adopted and lived in Indonesia for a few years until his mothers whatever marriage failed yet again! He was in Muslim garb as a kid( we have seen the pics) Bill aryes, Frank Marshall, Tony resko. I can go on! All these real concerns and all many people can say is racism??? Yes For some I'm sure it is, But in order for him to become president he needed a lot of white votes! If you want to know what can be seen as more racist is 94% of black people voted for him! that seems more racist than anything to me. If the white people voted 94% for the white candidate all you would hear is Racism. Bottom line is he has surrounded himself with socialist/ Marxists, His books show his intentions and belief's His pastor is Anti=American and I do not think Someone whether white, black, green, yellow or gray should hold the highest office when they have feelings like that. He has done absolutely nothing good since he took office except giving the OK to go get Usama. He then played it for all it was worth as It would have never happened If Bush didn't do what he did. He tried to close Gitmo, He stopped the CIA from interrogating prisoners, We have no new info since he took office! He has no clue how to run a country and making us look like fools in Foreign affairs! He is a hypocrite when you see his tax returns! he preaches for taking more from people who make more than 250K then takes every possible deduction and has the gall to even get a 12K refund! How about leading by example? guess not when it is his money involved!

Meaning right-wing Bush supporters. If that is not you, Then you are not who I'm talking about.

Typical too--to say if you hate Ameria why don't you leave?
Who said I hated America? You. Who said I hated white people? You.

You can't distinguish between hate and dissent.....except when it comes to the hatred and contempt that comes out for Obama---THEN it's patriotic!~

I don't like the America we have become with 30 years of right-wing fascism.
    Why don't they leave?

And I notice you had nothing to say about the jew-hating anti-semite label that all the "good people" use....nothing to say about that?

Actually, they would call you an anti-semite. "racism" is a word thrown around to make others feel like they have bad thoughts and ideas. It is used to make you feel guilty for voicing an opinion. A tool to stave off the free exchange of ideas. In this way, those using it can force you to give them what they want, regardless of whether or not you want to. Do I believe a word of what I just wrote.  NOT A SINGLE ONE.

"racism" is  a liberal bully word. Blacks use it and so do plenty of white people.  It's a guaranteed way to put a white male on the defensive. Look what it did to Trump!

Unless you live in a cave, you should know that  the color of racism and hate in America his PRIMARILY black (Obama & Holder's people). All one has to do to prove that fact is  google black-on -white crime.

I'm sorry to report but it is true (how many of these white people died or were victimized is not for the squeamish). Racism and hate is in fact black - not white

No I'm not joking.  I'm very serious about what I said.  You argument/rebuttal is weak and clearly subjective.  Meandering through my dialog, to the useless point of playing copy-cat with my words- is not much of an argument for your side.  Secondly- you do realize that America is made up of more than a thousand different regions.  From where I have laid roots in the Central heartland/bible belt of America, my words clearly reflect this "region" in which I call home.  So no Sir, I'm not joking.wink

Again, we seem to fail to recognize that each state has a different perspective.  Each city within an area will have a different opinion from the next city, and so on and so forth.......

My home, my opinion....., well it is based off of what I see in my hometown, in my surrounding community and within the "Show-Me" State altogether.  It is clearly going to be different from those opinions of free-willing Texans, or immigration witch-hunters of New Mexico or Arizona. In Missouri, Mexicans are welcome.  We want there the extra revenue in rental property, groceries, and SS tax money, and we want their cheap labor force.  It helps us to make more money.  So you see......... my region I'm sure is much different than yours.

        But let's make no mistake about- as a confederate state at one point, and a state whose Capitol was built by slave labor, and where Neo-Nazis' seek shelter and have recruitment camps all over, and where the KKK still meet in the basement of churches;
racism in my state is no joking matter.

Whenever it comes to racism it's always him, them, they. We are so good at pointing out who is a racist and that is not to say that we cannot be correct however the problem is there aren't four or five or six races. There are still many communities in America that are segregated by race. We are in the 21st century and we are still living with the ancient reasoning behind  racism. If the world needs to see what living without racism looks like then why don't we as America one of the greatest nations on the planet show the world how?

N.E. for me it is not race at all.

it is the performance of his Office, and his plan for America.  The Czars circumventing the Cabinet and Congress. The moves he is making to place more controls over business under the Green theme.

His failure to open up Trade, lower tariffs, the Oil issues. The refusal to clean up the immigration issues, but yet he will organize them and let organizations’ he once belonged to register them illegally for votes.

He concentrates on the Politics not the Duties of the Office. He has not got full control of his staff and who he delegates to, I think that gets him in trouble some, and many under him make rogue decisions and take way to much personal liberties to inject un-wanted personalities into the mix.

It looks to me like he is a bit of a Joe College Radical  Professor mind set, very anti-check and balance and idealistic. A Bit power hungry he seems at times, and way over the bounds of his Office. A Power grabber.

To me it is almost, like this is his first real job and he is enamored in the Power of it.   The advisors he uses are Political Think Tank folks, not practical work a day CEO's and such who understand Business and Markets that create growth, and have actually accomplished it.

He is in the Bankers Pockets, and He holds a lot of His father’s arrogance.

He is to Textbook, A one size will fit all or else, kind of decision maker The ideas offered, do not work pragmatically and we are not getting better, we are getting worse.

His idea that Judges should legislate from the bench, not judge the law The statements that the Constitution is flawed imply his actions to step around Congressional law and power. An end justifies the means.
We already have a Legislative Branch, he is making the Court in-affective. Why? The system is proven?

He is: a smart man, a moral man, a good father and husband, and a down to earth kind of man at times, but way to in-experienced to be in that office. He is a screwed Constitutional lawyer, but He came up to fast, he was not ready I think, and that’s my personal thoughts and reasons against him.

His arrogance and demeanor, and his in-ability to change, except for votes and reversing public opinion when he is overwhelmed with it..

He has assembled an advice team of college professors, stuck in textbooks, and not street smart, and he is miss-applying the information from those advisors like a big experiment. He misapplies History to a fault.

If he cannot correct the problem, he throws money at it. That does not work for Government.

Book after Book shows how and why the New deal did not work, and about economics theory, and he reads and misapplies the lessons in them....shovel ready jobs! Infrastructure Jobs, Solar Panels, all ideas needed but they will not sustain long term jobs, long enough to put people back to work and allow them to pay a 30 year mortgage or send a Child to College.

Look at the Bailout, He advocated the Bail out of Investment banks, and a few Big Multi Service Banks, the Giants, not the little Guys.

He advocated Big banks buying them out.  Remove the competition and the ability of People in Cities and Towns to deal direct with smaller Banks at Home. For car Loans, 2nd Mortages, equity loans, and savings and checking.

We are left to the mercy of Big conglomerants Like Bank of America, US Bank, and such. They offer checking and such, yes,  but look at the fees they have and the services taken away.  They want Big money customers not folks like us with small accounts, they fee us to death so we will leave.

Those banks he advocates for? But asks for our votes!

Investment banks DO NOT offer smal Loans, Car and House Loans, Checking and Savings at local levels,  they specualte on Blocks of Paper, with wall-street investment firms. Manage Money Transfers for retirment Accounts for major Corporations.

Big, Big blocks of Money moving at one time. Investment banks do not service Indivual accounts for the General Public.

They do not Cater to Individual customers. Thus Towns and small city communities dry up when there is no local investment going on.

Small towns, Medium Size Cities are still shut down with lots of people out of work. We learned these lessons back in 1933, when you have no speculation going on for Farms, small factories and other small businesses, you can not get growth.

Obama is proving his priorities, as he advocates for Big Bankers, not American Citizens. He knows well our factory system is splintered and sent off-shore and across Border.

He knows we are not producing goods to any desierd amount, yet no action on market arangements with any other countries, nothing but summits and Hob-Knobing with Other world leaders for Photo-Ops?

He advocates Union workers, but in truth He is courting Union Administration Donations to run for Office. He will shake a workers had then get the Shop Representitives to ask them to donate?

He allows the manipulation of statistics, omits factual data, and calls it transparency. He uses it to create Hype among youth and to create a Hype around him. He is calculating his next election all the time, not running the Country.

I could care less about silly and trivial matters of color, race, birth and education.

Obama is Qualified on paper to be a President, but not in Practical experience and World knowledge.

His actions are showing him to be axiomatic (Learn as you go) That’s Deadly for a President who negotiates all around the world. It indicates to others He has no strength and can be talked off his plan. And has been by experienced Manipulative Leaders during confrences.

He is lacking in some practical knowledge points and Strength that comes with experience and age, and those skills are sorely needed right now.

The above, are all my reasons, others will have their own reasons.

    But Race?  NO...

However The wrong personality for the Office, Miss application of Powers deliberate, in-experience and un-affective performance,  Hidden agenda?   YES...

I am sorry to be so direct here, but Color has not a thing to do with demonstrated in-ability. And a Distaste for American Law.

NOT in the Office of the President. .

I will get off my sopa-box now, sorry for the length of this.

I believe the bank bailout occurred at the end of the Bush administration, not under Obama. However, he may well have done the same thing. Obama is responsible for the bailout of GM and Chrysler which has worked out pretty well. More than a million auto and related jobs were saved and Chrysler recently paid off it's bailout funds. And GM is expected to do the same fairly soon. Allowing GM and Chrysler to go under would have been catastrophic.

Regardless..he IS the President of the USA. Just because he doesn't do what you want does not make him incompetent. I don't see him as arrogant at all.

And it is naive to believe that there are not some people who attack the President based on his race. And to me...when some talk about him not really being black, that is racist talk. We all know that in the USA before the civil rights act that if someone had even a teaspoonful of black blood that they were classified as black and denied rights. It's like they are trying too hard to show that they have nothing against Obama's race.

    NE,

I would like to address the actual question you asked, not one of these threads addressed your concern. Starting with the first one they went off on the space shuttle for destinations unknown.

As for your son, I have raised 2 children that have grown into wonderful adults. Both are in collage and their futures look bright. I have found that honesty and a direct approach, no matter the subject, is the best way to go.

In this question, there are many subtopics about racism, it goes back to accient times. I would tell him there are many forms of racism besides color. Racism against religion is just one example. Racism for personal gain is another. That one is the most horrible one. People using the race of like individuals to incite hate to further their own importance. They are not only racists but are thieves as they look fro monitary gain from their actions.  Let him know that racism exists on all sides but it has gotten better. It gets less every generation. Perhaps one day in the future this will no longer be an issue. Do not let himself get lured into these petty arguments of race. Let him know someday a closed minded person will call him something inapropriate. Tell him not to lower himself to the ignorance of others. Be strong in his moral convictions that you instill in him. Teach his children the same. Education, learning from our mistakes, and hope is what the future holds for everyone.

    About Obama and racism:

I think that some people don't like Obama because he's black, but not EVERYONE who dislikes him is racist! Some Americans simply don't like his policies. Look at the far-right conservatives supporting Herman Cain - who, by the way, is black! IF Cain were to get the nod from the GOP, maybe the 2012 election will be devoid of racism and of race-baiting?

You are kidding yourself if you think it will be devoid of accusations of racism.  The left has had this tool in their arsenal for decades and have yet to leave it unused.  The accusation will be tokenism or Cain is an "Uncle Tom" or he isn't black enough or he is flat out a race traitor.  Look at how liberals and blacks treated and continue to treat Clarence Thomas.  Racial accusations will never go unused until we all realize that there is no such thing as race and that only scoundrels through that word around with ease.

You believe Herman Cain will get it from the Tea Party people or Republicans but he will get it from good loving liberals like you.  He will, if he hasn't already been, called a race traitor.  Race is far more important to liberals than conservatives that is why they keep the groundless accusation of racism alive.

Any question of Barry's judgment is now racism, just ask Hardball or Meet the Press.  The full on hatred revolving around race is no longer because of a man's skin color but instead is for anyone not agreeing that black men need the Democrats to hold their hands or they will parish.  The insidious racism of the coddling liberal infatilizes "minorities."

Nothing disgusts me more than the treatment of so called minorities by liberals.  They build a little reservation and keep them hobbled by handout and propaganda.  Perpetuating the myth of race benefits the liberal.

In the department of pretend I would never even attempt to challenge your conspiratorial, antisemitic, collectivist, mommy state whining.  See you on the shoe line, Comrade.

There are past precedents of president-elect having their natural American birth questioned....

But there is no denying that the coloration of Obama's skin and the sound and appearance of his name motivated a lot of energy for the GOP..

Their boost may have come from a portion of the electorate that otherwise might have not participated...

But, it is important to point out that much of the push has come from a mixture of religious and racial/ethnic bigotry...

The land of religious freedom....but many turned against Obama over the fear of his being a Muslim...  What trumps the suspicion of his being of Islam is the even more marginalized sentiment cast upon potential politicians who are "openly" Muslim....

I have been puzzled by the number of "educated" "professionals" of the self-prescribed "white" class who follow this idiocy...

Has any other presidential candidate gone to school in Indonesia? Did we see pictures of him in Muslim Garb?? His Name is also of Muslim faith. His father was Muslim. This is the Highest office in the nation, Do you think we should not know everything about this man? His mothers side was communist. His father Anti-Colonialism, Mr. Marshall a Marxist was his mentor when young. 20 years in a Anti-American Church, Dedicated a book to him! his cabinet is all Marxist, socialist. His associates/friends are mostly socialist/Marxists. Bill ayres and Bernadine Dorn weather underground, blew up government buildings! His books tell you what he believes. And none of that matters? You people just through race because you have nothing solid and try to divert from the real questions. Do people not like him because of being PART black, I would say yes! want to talk about race, about 45% of white people voted for Obama, blacks voted 94% for Obama! That is racism! Bush was horrible but he is worse! Also how come so many of the left is getting waivers for Obama-care if it is that wonderful? How come only people in Pelosi and Reids State get the majority? Remember we have to vote it in to see what is in it??? The greatest line of all-time! all a scam! You people claim the right is trying to hurt seniors when it isn't true, but Obama care if your mother or father is old and the operation out weighs what they think he will live till, they can deny the operation! who is trying to kill seniors??

If race wern't an issue Obama wouldn't have been considered for the nomination due to gross lack of experiance.

He did write two books.  That has to count for something.  Don't be surprised if you are called a racist after such a provocative and unanswerable posting.  It is the tactic of liberals to call names when unable to address an issue coherently.

Yeah, and I'm sure race had nothing to do with him winning the Nobel prize either.

Al Jazeera TV. Now there is an unbiased news source with no dog in the fight. This is excellent propaganda. Ask enough people and one is bound to get the answer one is looking for. Why shouldn't I believe this was designed to raise negatives for Palin and sympathy for our inexperienced, incompetent president-to-be?

I wonder who paid for it? Saudi Arabia?

NE, this post....made me think a lot for some reason.

I do not like President Obama for his Goverment beliefs, his actions  or reactions to problems we have and I stated that in a long, to long, of a post above, but I have to be honest here also.

Can I really find that much wrong or am I also creating some of it..?

This was a great question to ask to wake up a person.
    smile...Thank You

Danny, thank you for making my point for me....

There is a lot of ignorance out there......and this poster's ongoing rant about "foreign Obama" and "anti-American Obama" clearly illustrates this...

Can you explain to me, Danny, what "Muslim garb" is?

Can you elaborate concerning the relationship between where someone receives (some) schooling and citizenship?

If one looks at Obama's maternal lineage you will find past presidents of this nation....which ones were the communists?

"You people".....eh Danny?  My parents are both well advanced in age...and it is only the health benefits that my mother earned via her unionized Los Angeles Unified School District job that keeps them going...  Home Depot's non-union benefits (my father's employer) pale in comparison...

I point to race because the bigotry exists....as the link to youtube shows, and as your own posts illustrate....

      There is no "there" there.
Is Detroit ruined? Was it run into the ground by Democrats?
Are there more people on food stamps today than in anytime in our history?
Would you prefer food stamps to a job and a paycheck?

It is sad how people like Danny continue to use the word "liberal" as if it were a slur...

Read up "bro"..as you claim you like doing...  You continue to show a minescule knowledge of American history/evolution in any era....and your perspectives regarding race relations and racism in the United States are not accurate..

If your personal story is accurate, then I commend your work, but I also ask this: Would you point out to your child that private and government forces have worked, and continue to do so, to keep these equal peoples at different levels of advantage in order to create and perpetuate the "race differences" that we see in terms of economic and social inequalities?

Will you teach them that, while you disapprove and do not condone it, "whiteness" continues to be an advantage?

As for other racist concepts, like Asian "model minority" concept, Stacy Lee's article entitled "Unraveling the 'Model Minority' Stereotypes: Listening to Asian-American Youth", racism exists even when it appears to be positive... And this appearance is only an illusion...
