Why do men like big breasts?

   It's a fact that most of the men idolize big breasts. Every year women spend millions on breast implants and other cosmetic procedures to improve their breasts including enlargement pills, pumps and creams.
   
   Considering the role that big breasts play in our culture and society, the amount of time, energy, money and emotion that goes into breast enlargement seems justified.
   
   
   
   But why do men like big breasts?
   
   Evolutionary biologists have discovered that a lot of the physical traits we consider attractive have a sound basis in genetics. How does this explain the male fascination with big breasts?
   
   According to evolutionary biologists humans are the only primates that have sex face-to-face. All other primates choose the front-to-back position. Human females are along among the primates in having large breasts even when not nursing. Evolutionary biologists theorize that large breasts look like a butt! Crazy as it sounds, all the evidence fits: all primates are turned on by butts - except people. Only humans have large breasts and mate face-to-face. Therefore, maybe big breasts evolved in imitation of buttocks.
   
   Or is it all just marketing? Some sociologists scoff at the evolutionary explanations offered above. They theorize that the male fascination with big breasts is driven by the advertising and media machine.
   
   Their explanation goes like this: children are exposed to seductive, sensual sexy advertising featuring busty female models. Children are taught to associate these images with arousal.

      Yes, think of all of the suggestive advertisement. These people spend billions on campaigns that will strike you sub consciously. As you mature your brain/computer is programmed to make the necessary association. consequently you think ( from a man's point of  view) this is what you like. Not to long ago I say a picture of a woman with the largest breast in the world. After she had reach the limit for enlargement in the United States she left for another country  who would go another notch. She developed an infection and had to have reduction surgery.
      
      Her boyfriend had had enough before she left the States. They  were silicone. It's artificial. Both male and female are living in an illusion charged world

      I'm sure that for every man who likes 'em big, there's probably one whose motto is "small ones are juicier".
      
      And speaking for myself (I'm female FWIW), I can't understand why any man would be turned on by silicone boobs, especially the unfeasibly huge ones. Ewww.

      I'm a boob lover and adore this wonderful creation.  The beauty about boobs is that they come in practically all shapes and sizes, and all of them have a certain element of attractive elements to them. For instance, a woman with small 'namesake' breasts can still have really hard and sensitive nipples, which men find so sexy. On the other, woman with large boobies generally have large areolas (which are so beautiful by themselves). One of the greatest advantages of big breasts is the immense scope they offer to the partner to enjoy them. They can be felt all over, groped, squeezed, crushed etc. and even loved (mammary intercourse). So, t's no surprise that big tits are the general preference of most men. A woman with large breasts is so 'womanly'. PERIOD.
      The other remarkable thing about breasts is that the daughter may end up having bigger tits than her mother. There are examples of younger sisters possessing bigger boobs than the older (the example of Serena Williams who has fantastic tits comes to my mind).
      One thing I've always wondered about is that how does a woman with a flat chest look at a big titted woman? Would she envy the latter or sympathize with her? Unlike men who have the 'advantage' in that their penises have a 'passive state', and no other man has any idea about it, the size of boobs (and even booty) of women are so apparent to each other that they just cannot pretend to be ignorant about. So, how do they react to their different sizes? Do they make fun of each others' breasts or praise them openly? This is smething I've always wanted to know.

   Breasts are the first place men (and women) find comfort and security, and for a baby any breast is large.   It is just fun to be not too grown-up buddy
   
   The sex from behind theory is flawed as the breasts are far more convenient for hands when the other side, in fact it would be more convenient if breasts were on a woman's back for dancing and face to face sex - would it not ??
   
   On a more serious note, Asian women generally have smaller breasts and I think this might be to do with the fact that dairy products are unusual in Asian diet, maybe this is why western women often look like milk cows with their supposedly sexy big breasts sagging half way to their knees ?

               I think it is the same with men :in some cases". If he has larger pecs and his lower back is not moderately strong, he will have problems.
               
               I actually have because of bench pressing a lot and not having a conditioned lower back.

   Why some women try to attract men by flaunting their breasts by wearing tight outfits or displaying breast cleavages? Isn't it true that some women with big breasts are more proud about their body and so more confident in life?

      You are confusing breasts with penis !  99% of women with big breasts are faking it and it all falls down when the uplifting support is removed  
      
      I prefer naturally small but nicely shaped breasts myself rather than udders, unfortunately due to lack of excercise I am developing exactly that !
      
      Beauty also comes from movement and a naturally slim easy moving figure is more attractive overall than a pair of chubby legs with a vast weight of fat on top - in a fair race with a tiger my favourite would win every time

      Its all about survival of one’s offspring – large breast are thought to translate to plenty of milk – and plenty of milk means a well fed offspring who is strong and healthy with better chances of survival.

            You are right that bigger breast do not scientifically mean more milk, but before man advanced in science, a bigger cylinder was thought to contain more oil than a small one.

   I dont think its necessarily true that men always like large breasts. For me, if I am going to be concerned about breasts at all, I'm looking for them to be nicely shaped and natural. Large breasts often are not so nicely shaped, especially as they get older. Small breasts on the other hand are usually perky and pretty. And I do not go for women with implants or augmentations. To me that just isnt natural. Women should work with what nature blessed her with. Obviously, I would make exceptions for women who have dealt with breast cancer, but cosmetic breast augmentation purely for the fashion definitely doesnt appeal to me. I admit large breasts easily catch a man's eyes, but catching his heart is something else. Although I do understand considering women start to grow them aroung age 11 or 12 and boys their age quickly become obsessed with the sight of them and the larger ones get more immediate attention. I can understand how a memory or experience at such an impressionable age would stay with a girl after reaching adulthood, but boys also mature and we do end up valuing other things.

    I am attracted to big breasts, but not like huge. Usually, if they are super big it's because the person is overweight in some cases.
    
    But proportion I think makes sense. If a girl is a small frame and has double D cup, then I think that is not right. It will just lead to back issues for the woman, unless she exercises her lower back. And most people in the US don't exercise their lower back.
    
    On the flip side, if a girl is large framed and has small breasts, I think it is odd. But genetics play a big role, people can not control everything, unless they get surgery.

    I often wonder about this,I breastfed my son and he loves breast. He's 13,loves looking at women's breast,on TV,in movies and music videos,haven't caught him scoping out any women in person. But there's not much I can do when boobs are all over cable and regular TV.
    
    Not sure if he cares about size,he just likes boobs. I think it's because it's a body part most men will never have so they envy them.

    I don't know what I can lend to the explanation other than tell you I love big breasts! I prefer them if I have a choice, but I also love small ones too. I've wondered about my fascination with them as well and have never been able to discern the "why". So far the only thing I have come up with is that I grew up in an age where the media pushed that bigger was the thing to do and so everyone started getting breast implants. I wonder if 30 years from now if "bigger is better" has no longer been pushed in the media or on barbie dolls, if the common male preference will change. With that said, breasts are just beautiful. I have a shirt that reads, "Boobies make me smile" - and, they do

    I don't understand men that want to be with a women with altered breasts..
    they know (and everyone else) that those two round globes on her chest are not her own..
    being real is more sexy than being fake..people will get tired of all this plastic surgery and look for someone real..
    and the women who alter their breasts to catch a man..he isn't interested in you...

       One point in favor of implanted breasts is that they can be big yet perky... and that's possible even on slender bodies!

    The love of big breasts seems to have something to do with the age of the men. For example, my ex and my current husband absolutely adore huge breasts. In fact, neither of them believes that boobies can be too large - the bigger, the better. I don't think most younger guys feel this way, however.
    
    If my hubby had to tote these puppies around for a few days, I think he'd see things differently! lol.
    
    Ditto on the back problems comments from other posters, BTW. I went to a seminar about breast reductions because I wanted one. When the speaker got to the part about cutting off the nipples, I made a hasty exit. OUCH!!!!

    Actually I think it is a myth that most men like big breasts.  I don't.  I like normal breasts.  To me big breasts are unwieldy and not as attractive.  They have to be lifted up and then what is underneath may not be pleasant.  Well, I like small women in general---petite, shorter than me, etc.  It is more womens' belief that most men like big breasts, mixed with their (womens' insecurity, mixed with the constant, twisted, media barrage per big breasts are better that causes the problem here in my opinion.  I don't think women need to have surgery---I think women are wonderful and beautiful the way they are per their breasts.  You are thinking yeah right?----well I'm TOTALLY honest here.

       Another misnomer about women with altered or naturally large breasts is that they are "loose".
       I've known many women and friends with large breasts that are always deflecting unwanted advances and crude remarks from strange men..
       It's not fair but that stereotype is there...

    Men are attracted to as much of the opposite of our own form as possible.
    
    Long hair, a round behind, small waist, shapely legs and thighs, with breast cup size of B+ and above is a "fantasy woman" for most men. (However in reality men fall in love and marry women of all shapes and sizes.) For example:Cameron Diaz or Penelope Cruz are small busted women and have no problems attracting men. A pretty face with a beautiful smile goes a long way.
    A morbidly obese woman with 55 DDD breast is not going attract the bulk of men.
    Everything is in proportion.
    
    The majority of women that have breast augmentation will never admit they did so with men in mind. However if "flat chested" women became the rage for men I bet you'd see a steep decline in breast implants! lol

       I am 5'9, with shapely curves (having "Legs for days" doesn't matter to most men unless those legs are shapely, which luckily mine are... less guys were attracted to me when I was 5'9 and a reed) and have heard the "fantasy girl" comment from many people, so I have to agree with that.
       
       I also agree that certain men go after women of all shapes and sizes... my   uncle is what you would call a "chubby chaser" and I also have a male friend that goes after women with pixie like physiques. 
       
       I work in a lingerie store that actually carries up to a 42DDD and most of the women I see with breasts that large complain about them.  They hate their large busts and often buy our minimizing bras.  Only a few of the women embrace their large busts.  And the slender women with large busts hate them more than the larger women... they say they get in the way and hurt!

    I think men like big breasts like some women like men who are "big".
    
    This most likely does not apply to all. I know many women could care less of a man's size as long as he's average or above....blah blah
    
    anyways, I think big breasts symbolize fertility, just my idea, since I'm guessing. Maybe something more to grab? more femine? Less looking like a guy who is flat chested?
    Just some ideas.

    I have 36Cs (or depending on the style of bra, 34Ds) and everyone does nothing but compliment them.  They sit just about as high up out of my bra as they do in them.  The only difference is I have tons of cleavage in my bra.
    
    Nobody complains that they aren't DDs, because they are perky and full at the same time.
    
    I like my mid-size boobies and so does everyone else. :T While I wouldn't complain if I were strictly a D-cup, I suppose overall I enjoy the way my chest looks bare.
    
    My mom is a petite woman with natural 38DDDs (38F) and she hates them.

       Yeah I'm actually a C cup even though most people think i'm a d or dd. I wouldn't want huge extra huge ones, for back ache and like you said not perky ,etc. When you gain weight obviously they get bigger and I'm so looking forward to losing more weight, and being able to wear a bra that doesn't crush my breasts , because the bigger size ones seem to, and for whatever reason, no matter which ones I buy, they are uncomfortable, except sports bras. It sucks! I think C is ideal. But whatever, it doesn't really matter. lol

    I worked in a hospital helping little old women and not so old women regain their independence once their health has been compromised. 
    
    And i just want to say I have seen more small breasts than i care to admit, that also sag and look deflated, once a woman has began to age some. 
    
    It was the fuller breasts that looked better and less deflated, yes they still showed the effects of gravity but not as deflated and wrinkled.
    
    lol so think what u want but smaller doesnt look any better with age. lol

       It makes me so mad, that people would just assume that naturally big breasts were ugly without a bra. I bit my tongue and it bled. That's how much that assumption hurt me.
       
       There are naturally big breasts that are perky. There are naturally small breasts that are saggy.

    I think this is a stereotype and myth.  I do not like big breasts.  They are unwieldy and I totally do not want to know what is underneath them and yuck if they are hairy.  I like petite women and much prefer medium to small breasts.  Again, this is a stereotype that all men like big breasts!  Women who get the breast surgery, etc. mostly do so based on a false assumption/belief that they have.  It is true that media feeds into this myth...that all men want big breasts thus making women feel insecure.  I feel pretty certain about what I say.  I'm middle aged and experienced.  I have insight and excellent abilities to think critically and analytically.

Being a romantic , the way she tucks her hair behind her ear , or how she stands as she talks to me , The way that a woman laughs , or how tears come to their eye's soo easily !   There is just too much to love about a womans body !
