    Jonah has gotten a bad rap for centuries.  He has probably been preached about more than Judas, but never in a good light.  If you read his book, you will notice one sermon that is written.  It contains only 8 words. 

    Jon 3:4  And Jonah began to enter into the city a day's journey, and he cried, and said, Yet forty days, and Nineveh shall be overthrown.

    The Bible does not give the number of people living in Nineveh.  One can only imagine that there were a lot of people there because Nineveh was a great city.

    Eight words, and the whole city fasted, repented, and was spared.  What an anointing!!!!!!!!!

    But after that the kindness and love of God our Savior toward man appeared,

    Not by works of righteousness which we have done,  but according to His mercy He saved us,  by the washing of regeneration,  and renewing of the Holy Ghost;

    Which He shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Savior;

    Titus 3: 4,5,&6.


    I love those verses for two reasons.  The first is obvious, because it says we can be born again (saved)  and the second is that these passages twice tell us that Jesus is God.

    'The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because He hath appointed me to preach the gospel to the poor;  He hath sent me to heal the broken-hearted, to teach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised.

    To preach the acceptable year of the Lord.
    '

    And he closed the book,  and he gave it again to the minister,  and sat down.  And the eyes of all them that were in the synagogue were fastened on him.

    And he began to say unto them,  'This day is this scripture fulfilled in your ears.'

    And all bare him witness,  and wondered at the gracious words which proceeded out of his mouth.  And they said, 'Is not this Joseph's son?'"

    Today, Lord, I pray that day is delayed, for the sake of those who are lost.  Surely,  they have hearts and consciences that can be appealed to, by someone, somewhere....don't they, Lord?

    Amen y'all.


    Today is still a day of salvation.  He still stands at the door and knocks.

    How great it would be to see a revival!  Not one that focuses on whether someone speaks in tongues or Benny-Hinn-type-showman-stuff.  But a true revival!

    There's a Scripture where Jesus told the disciples they'd do greater works than He did.   So many people take that to mean we should be able to go around shootin' Holy Ghost fire from our fingertips (lol) and making limbs re-grow on people.   But I heard a preacher several days ago who defined it well-------first of all, Jesus's literal time here on earth was short, comparatively.  And the disciples DID do a lot of miracles like Jesus did!
    But the preacher asked what miracles are "greater" than the things Jesus did.
    And he pointed out that salvation is such an awesome miracle!  And that all of Jesus's followers after His ascension and on through all these years have the opportunity to speak His name and tell the world they can be saved!  It is the very reason Jesus came!  No wonder Jesus commissioned His followers for that very, simple thing!

    I'm trying to study Isaiah 38.
    The story is also told in 2Kings 20.

    God added 15 years to Hezekiah's life after Hezekiah asked Him to heal him.
    So what is the significance of the turning of the sun dial?   God "turned back time" so-to-speak in the life of Hezekiah, but only for Hezekiah, right?  It's not like He took the whole community back 15 years, nor did He take Hezekiah back to a different period in time; He just gave Hezekiah longer life.

        Sure did!
        Music affects people's emotions.  I grew up around that type of songs, bluegrass and Gospel and country.  Still consider myself a Kentuckian. 

        Anyone who can play guitar or piano, etc., has a talent with lotsa drawing power!

        Hey, does it bring a tear to your eye too, or is it that you just recognize its power to draw out other people's emotions?

          Are you kidding? Often, I can barely get through the tune without welling up inside and bursting at the seams. There are a number of great Bluegrass and Folk tunes just like that which I often like to play just to get the emotions flowing.

          Unfortunately, I live too far from Kentucky but would love to spend some time there as I understand that on any given weekend somewhere there is always a Bluegrass festival going on. I would love to join in on those if I ever get the opportunity. smile

            Well, if you're a U.S. lawyer and could sue a certain company for me that I worked for as an independent rep for....denying my rights to free speech in a discussion forum because I spoke against Obama's advocacy of abortion and homosexuality, and prayed for his salvation, and you'll take the funds out of the court winnings, then I have a case for you after all!  lol

            And I lol because you'd have to have guts the size of Goliath's intestines to even try fighting the liberal fools; they saw Obama's face and his name on the ballot and instantly decided he was untouchable and my rights were expendable!

            Lord have mercy!  Such nonsense this Nation has seen in the last few years!

            If you truly are "In Christ" as you posted, I will pray harder for you!  Christians need the blessings of God upon them, now more than ever, because we're accosted from all corners sometimes;  but remember we live in this world but are not of this world; our Father knows our every need.   I pray for Him to intervene in your life and show His power and His Love to you and yours!  ♥

                Well, on this site here, I hear it's possible to make decent money.  Several people do, or at least claim to!  I of course haven't done so yet;  I'm a total peon; I write mainly because I have a fervor for poetry about Christ mostly and it just comes out so I gotta have an outlet for it.  And there are other writing sites that produce income, or so I hear. 

                ...With your experience, you may be able to get gainful employment writing for some large company or site, newspaper or etc...?  Or have contacts that will allow you to publish books, etc.?

                Awesome you stopped here.  There's a reason for it, no matter what!  I'm reminded of the power of prayer.  There's an awesome Scripture passage......Jesus told Peter He had prayed for him!  To be the subject of a prayer Jesus prayed to the Father while He was here on earth---what a Blessing!   And now we know that Christ is God, so we know the power of praying to Him even moreso!   
                I prayed for you.  And I know I'm not Jesus, but for sure I prayed to the right Person, the Son of Man/Son of God who IS God!  So we're on the right track!

              Brenda, It's good that you are speaking against Obama's advocacy of abortion and homosexuality. It is very sad when society believes right is wrong and wrong is right, and gets angry at us because we will not embrace things that are wrong. The best thing for us to to do is continue to pray. Prayer makes a difference!

        Those aren't my poems though.
        They're old songs, many of them from the song books we used in Church when I was a child....and some are more contemporary songs...

        Maybe that's where I got my love of poetry, though, 'cause they sure are good ol' songs.
