Hi folks - looks like things are bubbling along nicely.
Sorry for being a little quiet - my partner had to go back to the UK for a couple of weeks, so the last few days have been a little manic.
I hope to write the Greece capstone at the weekend and go on a big recruiting campaign for Greece-based Hubbers
Hi, I responded to the earlier hubtrail note and you all seem to have moved way ahead. An I still in this? And below are what I can add.
I am in australia and happy to work on Melbourne, Perth, Adelaide, Sydney (but I think Marissa is there and would want to do that one.)
Can do a bit on the Northern Territory and some of Queensland. If others are part of this, maybe we could co-ordinate what parts of aus each is doing.
Also, I will read up on others hubtrails so I can learn how they are setting things out and what the objective is.
Ohma, I will wait until I see your hub. I have hubs about Paris and a small village outside of Paris, but I don't have a hub which could be a capstone for the entire country.
what would a capstone for an entire country cover? Each region? I've traveled the entire US, but not France. I invited Princessa as I know she has written many hubs about France.
Anyone else out there who has a lot of France hubs?
I have a european capstone Hub where these could be placed. It is up to you. Let me know if you want to and send me any links.
I am going to write as much as possible so email me guys if there is anything I need to know etc.
thanks ethel, I'll get back to you on this. I'm officially signing off for the afternoon. It's too nice to be indoors. I'll take a look this evening.
Ohma, I have talked to Dale and we are good to go. I am thinking that we need to have a capstone hub for each province, and those would be included in the Canada capstone hub. Then the hubs for each province could go in the feed under it's own provincial capstone.
As the RSS feed is limited to eight, I am thinking we should just stick with BC, AB, The Prairies (SK, MN), On, PQ, The Maritimes (NB, NS, PEI, NF-LB), and The Arctic (KW, NU, YK). That leaves one slot for expansion if we find we have enough in one blended area to split it out.
I am happy to take this on, and will skulk about soliciting ppls to write for, or to submit, their "Canadian" hubs, and slot them in.
I am pretty sure we could have BC, AB, the Arctic, and maybe On and the Maritimes taken care of, but if someone would like to do a capstone for The Prairies, PQ, NF-LB that would be awesome. Actually any capstones would be great - just email me and let me know what you're interested in doing, and I can let you know if it's covered
If we have no takers, I will do Maritimes capstone to cover that area for now.
Thanks
Red
Red, the RSS feed isn't limited to eight. Only eight at a time will appear on the feed on HubPages but that doesn't mean it's limited anywhere else.
Everyone is doing such a great job with this project. I have written the hub but want Marisa to aprove the instruction before I publish it. I say she was on a minute ago so I hope she chime in.
Habee suggested I post my Bahama hubs. I just visited the Bahamas and wrote 2 hubs last week:
http://hubpages.com/hub/Bahama-Island-o … est-Part-1
http://hubpages.com/hub/Bahamas-Islands … est-Part-2
Here is a capstone for The Arctic
http://hubpages.com/hub/Canada-Hubtrial … avut-Yukon
Thanks Ohma, I have seen my hub published in the site http://hubtrailtravelguide.com, but it is in the category 'All' instead of category India! Did I do anything wrong in configuring my hub?
I have added my Hub on Ireland - Galway City to the RSS Hubtrails
Here is a capstone for Sussex, UK
http://hubpages.com/hub/Hubtrails-A-Hub … day-makers
I have two hubs, one on Cardigan Bay in Wales, and the other about Westport, Clew Bay and Croagh Patrick in Southern Ireland. I wrote them somewhile ago. Has anyone done a specific capstone on either Wales or Eire that these could feed into?
Amanda shall I include them in the UK capstone? Let me know and any other links if you want me to.
Thanks Ethel, that would be great. I guess the more hubs we get linked to the better!
Can I still join this one Ms Marissa and Ohma! I have some travel hubs to feed in
Ohma and Ms Marissa, I will volunteer to write a capstone hub for the Philippines and then the South East Asia later on,
Although I have some travel hubs in some parts of the world it is good if it is specific to a country or a smaller subdivision like a province?
Thank you.
I've added a couple dozen Hubs to this project today, and already their Hubscores are increasing, so I hope this aids the entire project and its authors. Looks like a successful, long-term advantage, and congratulations to the originators and advisors among you all.
I am just waking up to this idea! It seems like a great one to me.
Has anyone volunteered to write a capston for South Africa? If not let me know and I will be happy to do so.
Great to have everyone! thank-you for supporting this. I have written an Official How to Hub for everyone. It is titled "Hubtrails"
The project is set up in such a way that any one wanting to participate can with as little effort as possible. Please have a look at the site and if you have any questions feel free to contact me.
Ohma, I had written princessa also about it since she is in France and has so many France hubs. I heard from her this morning and she is very interested as well. she'll be back early next week.
That is great Rebeka when you contact her again let her know about the how to hub ok?
Exciting! here is princessa's Paris capstone hub!! If anyone has Paris related hubs, be sure to let her know.
http://hubpages.com/hub/Paris-Hubtrail-Capstone
Redelf just add the tags the feed will take care of everything else. the only thing that we are asking at this point is that everyone read my hub and then ask for clarification if needed. I would also like to ask that everyone participating promote Marisa's site just like they do their own hubs. tweet it share it on face book stumble it if you know of any good rss submission sites that would be good too.
I am posting to facebook and wherever else I can think of - will slip a link and wee promo into my next Examiner article
One thing - As Canada IS part of North America, will we be included in "Americas" or just left hanging about in "All"? It would be nice to be included - and we're such nice people (Canadians)
If you tag it as hubtrail-Americas and Hubtrail-Canada it will get into the Americas feed
Here I am back again! Are there capstones published for England, Scotland Ireland? If so please what are the tags you are using so I can slide in under your capstone?
As well, if anyone has hubs on Canada, we love to slot them in under the capstones - let me know.
Redelf maybe you should post this to the Hub as well so it gets seen without being burried in the forums.
I am finding several hubs that are being mistagged. hubtrail-(insert continent here) means insert your continent, for me in the US this is "hubtrails-americas". The same is true for the country tag again mine is "hubtrail-USA"
I have added a section to each of the capstones we have so far. We have four of thirteen provinces/territories covered and at least three more in the works
Will you be adding a dropdown for Canada, as well under the Americas? That would be really great! We will have a pile o' hubs once we get them all rounded up!
We have added the tag hubtrail-americas to the capstone hubs, but they only show up in the "All" section for some strange reason. They are showing up alright there (except for one which I hope will pop up soon) so that is good enough until we can sort it out - at least they are showing up on the site
Thanks for all your hard work guys!
Hello
I've read the various messages about hubtrails and capstones etc. I have set up the following URL in an unpublished hub.
http://hubpages.com/hub/New-Zealand-Vac … -hubtrails
Please can someone let me know if this is correct before I press the publish button. I'm not sure which area this should come under since its not Oceania and its not Australia. It could be Australasia but we don't have a category for that.
Thanks so much.
Thanks so much Salt. Your comment is appreciated.
Re your post about Australasia vs Australia - I agree but the broader category of Australasia captures other countries such as New Zealand. Its a recognised form of grouping a bit like saying Europe, Asia etc. Yes - its still via Oceania - Australasia - Australia (in your case).
Hope that helps.
You're wonderful Marisa. Thank you so much.
this is my error Marisa it is wrong on the Hubtrail hub I will edit immediatly.
THANKS so much Ohma. Be good to be part of the world!! Jasons's added New Zealand to the map too. Life is GOOD!!! Haha.
if I write on australia, I usually have to go via oceana and then to australia in the normal hubpages links.. are we following their lead.
And I admit, I do prefer to say Australia not australasia, as if I was writing about singapore, I wouldnt be saying australasia - singapore, I would put asia or singapore.
Alot of the European Hubtrails seem to have city or country names not europe first...
Anyway, Marissa Im sure will direct me ..
Salt, every country lies on a continent. European countries will have their country tag plus their continent tag. Australia is the same - it's a country but it's part of Australasia.
Hi I would like to participate in this. This is a great idea.
Has anyone got the Nevada capstone or Las Vegas yet? Since I live in Las Vegas and drove a taxi cab around "The Strip" I know Vegas pretty well.
Since there is so much to do in Las Vegas I'm thinking it could also be a capstone type hub linking to various tourist destinations here and nearby.
While the Grand Canyon is neither in Las Vegas or Nevada, in my opinion Las Vegas is a perfect place to link to it from as many travel to there from here. We have tons of helicopter tours daily that go to the Grand Canyon. Can more than one hub can link to it ? Same thing for the Hoover Dam too.
Folks!
Don’t leave out the tags. Ohma explains it neatly in her hub. For full backlink support the required tags are (written in upper case letters):
HUBTRAIL
+ (depending on the location) HUBTRAIL-AMERICAS or HUBTRAIL-EUROPE or HUBTRAIL-AUSTRALIA or HUBTRAIL-AFRICA or HUBTRAIL-OCEANIA or HUBTRAIL-ASIA & MIDDLE EAST
+ HUBTRAIL-COUNTRY for example HUBTRAIL-FRANCE
+ (optional) HUBTRAIL-CITY for example HUBTRAIL-PARIS
thanks, I just finished tagging some that I'm using for Europe-fRANCE. so far I just used the continent and country tag and added the rss feed. the same hubs have been on the rss feed. when do they update? anyone know?
I added the tags in CAPS, but it converts them to lowercase. Are you able to keep yours in caps after publishing?
I too have the same problem Mutiny92 - my tags convert to lowercase as well.
it does not matter. this is one of those none issues. as long as the tag has the correct info the ie "hubtrail-whatever applies" it will work.
Wow, a lot has been happening here while I was out of town this week! This looks great, Ohma! I have written numerous hubs about Florida and would love to participate here. I just read your new Hubtrails hub and I just wanted to clarify one step -
If someone else has already created a Florida capstone, do I still need to create my own? If so, can one of my existing hubs be my capstone hub? Are there any specific parameters or requirements for a capstone hub?
After reading through the 8 pages here and now your hub I'm confused about what tags to use - just "hubtrail" or "hubtrail-florida" or "hubtrail-usa"...
Sorry for all the questions, I'm just trying to understand so i can participate...thanks!
Lily Rose
first welcome aboard. so glad to have you!
second both Habee and readytoescape have written capstone hubs for Fla. so you can:
create your own,
use an existing hub to turn into a cap
contact one of them to be included under their cap.
Tagging if you are choosing option 1 or 2 the tags should be "hubtrail-Americas" "hubtrail-USA" "hubtrail-Florida" and "hubtrail"
if you are choosing option 3 tag it "hubtrail-Florida" and "hubtrail"
IF you choose to do your own capstone link any sub hubs to the capstone and tag them according to option 3
Thank you, Ohma! Just two more questions:
1. Is there any advantage to creating my own capstone, rather than being included in someone else's cap?
2. Can I just call one of my existing hubs a Cap, or are there existing requirements for a Cap hub?
Thanks again!
Yes I am a little uncertain what a capstone hub is, and whether I can use an existing hub also
I think that when Marisa gets her site organised she will be using the feeds for the capstones. My site is also organized by those feeds.
the general hubtrail feed that should be on all hubs is what is being used for RSS submission sites.
the state feed is for internal use on hubs from the same site.
Ideally capstones should provide a little information about the larger area that your sub hubs will detail. Check out the existing capstones for Fla, to get an idea of what they look like. both of them are really great.
would like to participate, sounds like fun. Are there any time constraints?
Hello
There aren't any time constraints so come aboard. Welcome.
Okay, I'm late to this as I just saw the thread. Not really sure how this is done, but will try converting my travel hubs into a hubtrail as I'd love to join all of you!
One question: do we each pick one country or something? I'm in Japan, but I was born and raised in Thailand and I plan to be writing about both places. Is that possible or do we have to stick to just one place?
Oh, another question: is this gonna only be about traveling (like a travel guide) or could it be about something of that country (like food or culture)?
Thanks! I need to go cook dinner, but I will be back later!
Hello Ohma
I have just published a capstone hub on New Zealand. Phew - it was a big effort.
Here is the link if you would like to check it out.
http://hubpages.com/hub/New-Zealand-Vac … -hubtrails
I hope I've done all the links and tags right!!!
Great Travelespresso, I am on my way to have a look.
Everyone is welcome to join. Please if you are joining Read my Hubtrail hub first if you are still confused contact me through e-mail and I will do what I can to help.
Thanks Ohma. Your advice and support is much appreciated. Love this concept!
What a cool idea this is!
I was wondering if a particular city needs to have its own capstone hub? Or is it just included in the capstone for its state? I'd love to write some hubs on Rochester NY
I think as far as I can understand, you can do either or both.
you can make your own capstone for a city, or use a current one you may already have and add hubs to it. just make sure you use the hubtrail tags, continent, state, and city (option).
Okay, thanks rebekahELLE! That really helped
Haunty pointed me at this ohma. I have a few written about Portugal. Some are modern day overviews, others are historical. Are they any good? Or want something different?
*wanders off to read the hubtrail hub*
I have a question.
If we write hubs about a city and have those hubs included in a link capsule on each hub in that city category, is it overly promotional?
My hub http://hubpages.com/hub/A-Travelers-Guide-To-India is published in the general category of http://hubtrailtravelguide.com/
Can it be shifted to the country link India?
The Hubtrails website is grouped by continent not country. You don't have a continent tag on your Hub so that 's how it got missed.
I'm going to write a capstone for the Tampa Bay Metro area. if anyone has hubs they want included, just send me a mail. here is a link to another post explaining it:
http://hubpages.com/forum/topic/42634#post986433
I have sent links to all my Hubtrail Hubs to Ohma. Please confirm that you have received them?
Or should I post them here?
I have received them. I am updating things on my end as quickly as I can.
ok. the Tampa Bay Metro Area capstone is done. I've included habees and readytoescape's florida capstone hubs and hubs I found in the Tampa Bay area. If anyone has one they would like for me to include, just send me a mail. thanks. http://hubpages.com/hub/Tampa-Bay-Metro … pstone-Hub
*bump* this thread back up....WOOHOO! The Hubtrail continues!
Not to be too "high-maintenance" but is the hubtravelguide website picking up ALL hubtrail-country hubs? I wrote one on the San Diego Comic Book Convention with the tag "hubtrail-americas" in it, but I was wondering if there was something else I needed to do to have it added?
I see it showed up on Ohma's site though.
No biggie - just curious.
to show up on Marisa's Hubtrail site, make sure you have the continent tag.
hubtrail- north america.
I'm not sure how often the site updates, but it will show up with the continent tag.
I like your avatar!
thanks! I looked at other hubtrail posts in the site, but the only tags in common are hubtrail-usa and hubtrail-americas. I had both of those.
Guess I am a bit late on this one. Haven't been active in the forums lately. Seems live a nice idea. Ohma and the team, thumbs up!
I like to submit another 3 hubs for hubtrail India
http://hubpages.com/hub/Cruise-At-Chilika-Lake
http://hubpages.com/hub/Travel-Kovalam- … rala-India
http://hubpages.com/hub/cupid51_1
Thanks.

Sorry to report but I've had some problems with the external website. I tried to fix up the RSS feeds as they weren't picking up all the hubs, and in the process seem to have broken them altogether.Sincere apologies to all - I will get it fixed eventually but it will mean more Hubs get...

Afternoon folks. If anyone has a UK, Greek Island, or European travel hub that I could add to my hubtrail hubs please let me know. Thanks all. Here's hoping

Hey Hubberville,I know there are plenty of people working on Hubtrail Hubs and I would like to post this thread, so as to get your attention.I, myself am working on the Capstone Hub for Americas and requesting a link from every person who writes a Capstone Hub for North America(all State Hubs...

Okay everyone it is done! I am sorry for the many changes and delays but as many of you know this project was not really a project in the beginning. I was just throwing an idea out there and everyone jumped in which is fantastic but has made for many garbled and confusing instructions and for that...

I am writing a hub on travel in Idaho, but am unsure as how to tie it into the hubtrails program. In particular, the idea of a capstone - one place says use it on the first one I write, another says don't use it, and I can't figure out just what to do. Help here, anyone?

I've been too busy to take part in the contest, but I'm surprised how few people are taking advantage of the Hubtrail tags on their contest Hubs.Has everyone forgotten it exists?
