Hi folks - looks like things are bubbling along nicely.

Sorry for being a little quiet - my partner had to go back to the UK for a couple of weeks, so the last few days have been a little manic.

I hope to write the Greece capstone at the weekend and go on a big recruiting campaign for Greece-based Hubbers smile

Hi, I responded to the earlier hubtrail note and you all seem to have moved way ahead. An I still in this? And below are what I can add.

I am in australia and happy to work on Melbourne, Perth, Adelaide, Sydney (but I think Marissa is there and would want to do that one.)

Can do a bit on the Northern Territory and some of Queensland. If others are part of this, maybe we could co-ordinate what parts of aus each is doing.

Also, I will read up on others hubtrails so I can learn how they are setting things out and what the objective is.

Ohma, I will wait until I see your hub. I have hubs about Paris and a small village outside of Paris, but I don't have a hub which could be a capstone for the entire country.

what would a capstone for an entire country cover? Each region? I've traveled the entire US, but not France. I invited Princessa as I know she has written many hubs about France.
Anyone else out there who has a lot of France hubs?

Ohma, I have talked to Dale and we are good to go. I am thinking that we need to have a capstone hub for each province, and those would be included in the Canada capstone hub. Then the hubs for each province could go in the feed under it's own provincial capstone.

As the RSS feed is limited to eight, I am thinking we should just stick with BC, AB, The Prairies (SK, MN), On, PQ, The Maritimes (NB, NS, PEI, NF-LB), and The Arctic (KW, NU, YK). That leaves one slot for expansion if we find we have enough in one blended area to split it out.

I am happy to take this on, and will skulk about soliciting ppls to write for, or to submit, their "Canadian" hubs, and slot them in.

I am pretty sure we could have BC, AB, the Arctic, and maybe On and the Maritimes taken care of, but if someone would like to do a capstone for The Prairies, PQ, NF-LB that would be awesome. Actually any capstones would be great - just email me and let me know what you're interested in doing, and I can let you know if it's covered big_smile

If we have no takers, I will do  Maritimes capstone to cover that area for now.

    Thanks
    Red

Red, the RSS feed isn't limited to eight.  Only eight at a time will appear on the feed on HubPages but that doesn't mean it's limited anywhere else.

Do we need to post everything here (links to each hub) or just links for the capstone hubs? Or is it enough to just add the tags to any of the hubs we want to post on your site?

I would also like to ask that everyone participating promote Marisa's site just like they do their own hubs. tweet it share it on face book stumble it if you know of any good rss submission sites that would be good too.

I am finding several hubs that are being mistagged. hubtrail-(insert continent here) means insert your continent, for me in the US this is "hubtrails-americas". The same is true for the country tag again mine is "hubtrail-USA"

  25. RedElf profile image90
    RedElfposted 15 years ago

I have added a section to each of the capstones we have so far. We have four of thirteen provinces/territories covered and at least three more in the works wink

Will you be adding a dropdown for Canada, as well under the Americas? That would be really great! We will have a pile o' hubs once we get them all rounded up!

We have added the tag hubtrail-americas to the capstone hubs, but they only show up in the "All" section for some strange reason. They are showing up alright there (except for one which I hope will pop up soon) so that is good enough until we can sort it out - at least they are showing up on the site big_smile

Thanks for all your hard work guys!

    Hello
I've read the various messages about hubtrails and capstones etc.  I have set up the following URL in an unpublished hub.

    http://hubpages.com/hub/New-Zealand-Vac … -hubtrails

Please can someone let me know if this is correct before I press the publish button.  I'm not sure which area this should come under since its not Oceania and its not Australia.  It could be Australasia but we don't have a category for that.

    Thanks so much.

Thanks so much Salt.  Your comment is appreciated.

Re your post about Australasia vs Australia - I agree but the broader category of Australasia captures other countries such as New Zealand.  Its a recognised form of grouping a bit like saying Europe, Asia etc.  Yes - its still via Oceania - Australasia - Australia (in your case).

if I write on australia, I usually have to go via oceana and then to australia in the normal hubpages links.. are we following their lead.

And I admit, I do prefer to say Australia not australasia, as if I was writing about singapore, I wouldnt be saying australasia - singapore, I would put asia or singapore.

Alot of the European Hubtrails seem to have city or country names not europe first...

Hi I would like to participate in this. This is a great idea. smile

Has anyone got the Nevada capstone or Las Vegas yet? Since I live in Las Vegas and drove a taxi cab around "The Strip" I know Vegas pretty well.

Since there is so much to do in Las Vegas I'm thinking it could also be a capstone type hub linking to various tourist destinations here and nearby.

While the Grand Canyon is neither in Las Vegas or Nevada, in my opinion Las Vegas is a perfect place to link to it from as many travel to there from here. We have tons of helicopter tours daily that go to the Grand Canyon. Can more than one hub can link to it ? Same thing for the Hoover Dam too.

Don’t leave out the tags. Ohma explains it neatly in her hub. For full backlink support the required tags are (written in upper case letters):

    HUBTRAIL

    + (depending on the location) HUBTRAIL-AMERICAS or HUBTRAIL-EUROPE or HUBTRAIL-AUSTRALIA or HUBTRAIL-AFRICA or HUBTRAIL-OCEANIA or HUBTRAIL-ASIA & MIDDLE EAST

    + HUBTRAIL-COUNTRY for example HUBTRAIL-FRANCE

    + (optional) HUBTRAIL-CITY for example HUBTRAIL-PARIS

Wow, a lot has been happening here while I was out of town this week!  This looks great, Ohma!  I have written numerous hubs about Florida and would love to participate here.  I just read your new Hubtrails hub and I just wanted to clarify one step -

If someone else has already created a Florida capstone, do I still need to create my own?  If so, can one of my existing hubs be my capstone hub?  Are there any specific parameters or requirements for a capstone hub?

After reading through the 8 pages here and now your hub I'm confused about what tags to use - just "hubtrail" or "hubtrail-florida" or "hubtrail-usa"...

Sorry for all the questions, I'm just trying to understand so i can participate...thanks!

first welcome aboard. so glad to have you!
second both Habee and readytoescape have written capstone hubs for Fla. so you can:
    create your own,
use an existing hub to turn into a cap
contact one of them to be included under their cap.

Tagging if you are choosing option 1 or 2 the tags should be "hubtrail-Americas" "hubtrail-USA" "hubtrail-Florida" and "hubtrail"
if you are choosing option 3 tag it "hubtrail-Florida" and "hubtrail"

IF you choose to do your own capstone link any sub hubs to the capstone and tag them according to option 3

  34. Lily Rose profile image85
    Lily Roseposted 15 years ago

Thank you, Ohma!  Just two more questions:

    1. Is there any advantage to creating my own capstone, rather than being included in someone else's cap?

    2. Can I just call one of my existing hubs a Cap, or are there existing requirements for a Cap hub?

    Thanks again!

Yes I am a little uncertain what a capstone hub is, and whether I can use an existing hub also

  35. Ohma profile image60
    Ohmaposted 15 years ago

I think that when Marisa gets her site organised she will be using the feeds for the capstones. My site is also organized by those feeds.
the general hubtrail feed that should be on all hubs is what is being used for RSS submission sites.
the state feed is for internal use on hubs from the same site.

Ideally capstones should provide a little information about the larger area that your sub hubs will detail. Check out the existing capstones for Fla, to get an idea of what they look like. both of them are really great.

One question: do we each pick one country or something?  I'm in Japan, but I was born and raised in Thailand and I plan to be writing about both places.  Is that possible or do we have to stick to just one place?

Oh, another question: is this gonna only be about traveling (like a travel guide) or could it be about something of that country (like food or culture)?
