In South Africa we are paying about R8.69 - more or less. can't remember the exact amount now.  It is just over a dollar/liter.

It might not sound like a lot but for about R20 (just over $2 - I think) u can drive about 30 kilometers.

In Ireland, the average price of petrol was €1.33/litre. This was about average across the EU with the exception of Lithuania who only paid €.98/litre.

The price of petrol in the UK today 19th Feb 2011 is £1.30 per litre. That is about $2.20 per litre or about $7.00 USD per gallon. In simple terms very expensive.

    A few conversions:

    There are 3.8 liters/gallon
There are 1.1 Australian dollars/US dollars
    .63 British Pounds/US dollars
    1.024 Canadian dollar/US dollar

So I know there are a lot of currencies I missed

This is on the low side in Washington State:

    .825 Australian dollars/liter
    .768 Canadian dollars/liter
    .473 British Pounds/liter

I have absolutely no idea...one thing I never ever look at is the price of petrol, I just buy it and drive off. I decide how much I'm going to spend, put that much in and off I go.

I think that it is definitely more than £1 per gallon though.

The price is increasing daily with today's price at 103.7 cents per litre and it's still going up.  I have noticed that the price increases on Thursday evenings and continues to rise until Tuesday evening, where it drops drastically.  Wednesdays are the best days to buy petrol -- lowest price during the week.  Then the mark up begins again.  sad

I'm in No Cal and it's hovering in the $3 range for unleaded. I didn't look cuz my car's 3/4 full right now, but I strongly suspect they jacked up the prices for Labor Day weekend.
    Why? Because they CAN!

livewithrichardposted 14 years agoin reply to this

Just the opposite here, at least where I am in Chicago. We pay a higher rate in the city because of an added city tax as if the state and fed tax weren't enough.  I paid $3.11/gallon yesterday and I'm not going to complain after seeing how much others are paying around the globe.

I'm lucky enough to live in a city that has great public transportation. $80/month would buy me an unlimited use CTA pass which I could use for bus and rail but only in the city.  Unfortunately many of my clients live in the suburbs which have terrible public transportation so I need to drive.  My 2007 Chevy Colorado is a 6 cylinder and gets around 20 miles per gallon on the highway.
