While I support President Obama I think it was just a little too early to give it to him. I don't know enough about it to know exactly why they chose him now.
What has he done in comparison to the likes of Nelson Mandela and the Dalhi Lama?
I thought it was too premature. I would like to know who the other candidates were. Anybody know?
Maybe he was given the prize to HURT his Presidency more
!!!
Emdi, are you serious?
maybe he was given it because he deserves it and is finally restoring respect and humbility to the American people.

That thought crossed my mind, especially after all the reactions from around the world started coming in,....
He was given the p[rize for promises made. No significant actions have been made by him in regards to foreign policy. Obama quoted, "This award is a call to action." Action is one thing Obama has been lacking so far. Speeches are easy to come by.
I likewise support Obama in that he is our president, but I also believe it to be way premature for anything like this.

I completely concur your sentiment here. Very well written.

The responses in there should help answer your question. I watched the news and a lot of people thought it was premature, but it was also mentioned it accounted for some of his work before being President.
As you posted this a few minutes after the one above, which was actually congratulating him and America - I'm wondering if you think he deserved it.....

Does anyone know why he was selected? What glorious things has he done? What in the hell were they thinking?

Do you think he shouldn't have accepted it?

Truthfully- yeah it wasn't deserved the best I can tell.

Apparently, he never knew he was nominated and he did say he was surprised - which could imply, he didn't think it should be awarded to him.
Well, what can I say? He's your president and the honour was bestowed on your Country and you as a Citizen. It's done and dusted now. ![]()
He has it....hopefully he can earn it now. ![]()

Yeah- this all is true. However, what do you think? Does he deserve it?

Yes he deserved it. He must have done a lot of good work before being in the position he is now. (which actually made him president). However, I feel they put him in an awkward position and it would have been better to award it maybe in a years time, when people can actually SEE a lot more evidence of his works of Peace Making etc...

you know...this is an interesting thought, actually.
i saw this movie once where this new teacher tried something different with her students. she gave everyone is the class an "A". they were all wow...but the caveat was, they had to KEEP their "A", which proved to be harder than earning one in the first place.

Maybe the Norwegians had that in mind? ![]()
Interesting Topic.
Nominations closed 11 days into his precidency, What did he do in those 11 days that were so good?
Looks like it's part of a big plan....
