As the year comes to a close, many people take time to reflect on the past 12 months and consider how they might change things in the future. Face it- now is the perfect time to consider what you can do to improve your quality of life!

If you spend any time contemplating these improvements, I heartily recommend writing down your thoughts in a Hub, and joining the Weekly Topic Inspiration crew! This week’s theme is Quality of Life and Wellness, so guides on improving physical, mental, social, and emotional health are welcome!

Here are some commonly searched-for terms on the subject that may give you some inspiration: quality of life, quality of work, quality life, palliative treatment, standard of living, health and well being, physical well-being, mental well-being, social well-being, emotional well-being, positive thinking, positive attitude, positive thoughts, positive mental attitude, positive thinking exercises, positive attitude in the workplace, how to have a positive attitude, health wellness, physical wellness, workplace wellness, improve quality of life

If you'd like to join in on this week's topic by writing a Hub, follow these steps:

    1)    Click here to visit this week's topic.
    2)    Click the green button "answer this question".
    3)    Click the gray button below the box (leave that empty) that says "make a Hub about it."
    4)    Give your Hub a very specific title, like Easy Summer Gardening Projects for Kids or Challenging Summer Activities for Teens
    5)    Create good quality original content that hasn't been covered before.
    6)    After you publish your Weekly Topic Inspiration Hub, come back to this forum thread and post a link to your Hub with a brief description of what you wrote about and why.

For more information on the Weekly Topic Inspiration program, check out the Learning Center guide.

I’m rather excited to read the Hubs you publish. I’m all for happy, healthy, fulfilling lifestyles!

Oh, this topic is just right up my street. I’ve just published a hub that fits it even without knowing what this week’s topic was! I hope it’s okay to post the link here, as I’d already posted it before I saw this, so can’t make it link to the question.

I had already published the first two hubs in "An Anti-self-help Self-help Series", when I saw this weeks 'Topic Of Inspiration' . . . so I'm attaching my third entry here. This one I've titled "Recognizing The Reality Of The Circumstance Of Your Life". For many simply thinking 'things could be worse' may offer no comfort or council at all - but it does for me and, it seems like it should.

If you want improve your life - don't dramatize. Many people inflate lethal disaster from minor failures and react accordingly. The habit of making mountains out of molehills generates anxiety, which is either non-existent or so small that we don't worry about it. Why do we do it? Who knows? May be to look and feel more important. In any case, this is as silly as it is pernicious. Most of the problems are in our heads.

One thing is for sure, without good health quality of life is not possible, so I think it will have to start with a healthy lifestyle. That said it is not always that easy. You may have to work around some chronic illnesses, but it should be possible with a positive mind.

    1. Simone Smith profile image87
Simone Smithposted 12 years agoin reply to this

This is quite true, though one can still make the best of a situation even if one is not physically well. It really is a combination of multiple factors- physical well-being is an important part, but so is having a good outlook, having good connections with other people, engaging in healthy, fulfilling activities, etc.

I'm having one heck of a problem writing something for this. Ironically, I have a paper I have to write that's also on the same topic which I still have to start. I want to turn my paper into a hub, but I have NO clue what to make the topic. It has to do with locus of control. But WHAT about locus of control should I write about? I have no idea. I don't want to just write a survey of the topic.

And on top of that, I'm super pressuring myself to make it something really good. This massive amount of pressure I've put on myself has turned regularly writing hubs into pulling my hair out over finding the perfect, fine-tuned topic. sad

    1. Melovy profile image92

Hi Melbel, try just writing, no  matter what it is, or even what topic - have the topic loosely in mind, but don’t try to focus too much. Just sit down and allow what comes to come, and as best you can accept that much of it will be crap, but that by doing this you will get something worth while that can then be developed. A tutor once told me to think of it as the scaffolding, which is required for building, but gets taken once the building is finished.
If you check out my NaNo Adventure hub (link is among the first few posts of this topic) you will get more on how this method works, and also there are two books listed that I found hugely helpful in getting past writer’s block.

Great advice! I hit writer's block on my personal blog so did what you suggested & it worked. Write gibberish, got an idea, rewrote & removed 'scaffolding' - thanks!

Hey Melbel! If that doesn't work out, may I suggest a Hub about whether or not it is possible/easy to shift an external locus of control to an internal locus of control, and why one might wish to do that? I think that'd make for a very interesting paper.

It really doesn't have to be at all- and so many people live with chronic diseases. I am glad you wrote this Hub!

I just posted a hub titled "Book Review: 10 Secrets for Success and inner Peace by Dr. Wayne Dyer". http://happyboomernurse.hubpages.com/hu … Wayne-Dyer

This book review was written in response to a suggestion that fellow hubber, Melovy, made to me about creating a hub on my favorite self help author, Dr. Wayne Dyer.
