I'm depressed today. Who wants to cheer me up?

    I'll start.

    I have food and shelter.

Para, you made me feel much better despite my 86 hubberscore.  Well, despite that, I have a regular payout, good friends and relatives who care about me, food, shelter, and some very nice luxuries.  Can't complain.  Why complain where there are those poor souls who have nothing, not even a place over their heads.  Thank you for this thread.

It's all biochemical. I have tryptophan-inducing food and B-complex vitamins. One day at a time. Sure would like to find that all-consuming interest and purpose in life though...

          Come on Paradigmsearch,
You have so many friends on here
          You could fill a Church
          Or at least a pew
          Maybe even two
So don't be blue and leave us in the lurch
Come on and join us out here on the perch
And if this limb should swing and sway
If we all hang together we will be safe this day.

I think you should buy a cheap or second hand camera! You appear to pick good images from limited stock and illustrate your hubs (and forum posts) rather well with them. I think we should see things through PDS's lens! You could also sell those images or open a Zazzle store (definitely the latter)

But also once you have a camera, you'll be inspired to get out more, get some fresh air and immortalize your thoughts at the time!

      Do it, PDS!

Here is a thought, Para -- seeing that picture of a cute puppy reminds me how fun it is to give a dog some peanut butter (they love it) then sit back and watch them. This always makes me laugh so hard.  And -- laughing stimulates those little endorphins in our brains that bring harmony and balance to our overall feeling of goodness.

All things are cyclical - so whatever you are experiencing will pass eventually - just like the seasons and night and day - things are always in motion - your depression today will also pass away and something better and brighter will come into focus soon enough.

Yes, perspective, para. Each star above has its position and place, making it breath-taking and beautiful, creating the whole. You, too, have a place in the vastness of stars. I see you up there . . . at the top, to the right . . . see? You shine brightly here at HP. That is your purpose. Continue to hold your position amongst the stars. Do not allow depression to dull your light.

Sometimes when I feel depressed, I watch videos on YouTube where they replace lyrics in a song with screaming goats. They're actually pretty funny. Aside from that, you could watch a favorite TV show or read a good book (there are lots of good books out there). Take a deep breath. Tomorrow is another day.

Don't laugh at me, but there are two weird things I do with music that usually put me in a great mood..
The first is listening to bagpipe music.. I don't know why. But it just makes me happy.. It's weird, I know.

The second, if I'm have a really bad day and can't seem to get out of my own way: I put "Start Me Up" by the Rolling Stones on in my earbuds and dance like Mick Jagger... I swear, it sounds weird, but I find it works... Have you ever watched Mick Jagger dance? He has very weird movements, but you can just tell that even though he can't really dance, he's enjoying himself... I highly recommend giving it a try. Dance alone like Mick Jagger. You'll feel so silly, you'll put a smile on your own face.

Its not always reflected in money, but you already have all the abundance you need.  Just trust that to be so!

We are but one man [woman] in a vast universe of mostly unknown and unexplored  beauty , where all things mesh to form the perfect world that we live in  here on earth . And yet at times like this ....we can only think about how "I" feel. I don't mean this to say  to diminish your mood further , only to show .....Does it matter how one man feels. I think not ....Hey but remember this ...WE hubbers love you!

I second the idea about the camera, a decent SLR and a macro lens would get your outdoors and away from your computer.  Just being inside all the time makes me feel depressed.
A macro lens will give you a front row seat into the fascinating world of bugs and insects and you will forget about feeling down.  Unfortunately the insects don't talk back talk but just occasionally they do bite so you could always consider these as as love bites.
Being outdoors is good for the soul and there is a good chance that you will meet someone really special when you are out with the trusty camera!
Once you get really proficient at the camera you can sell your photos on Shutterstock - there has to be more than HubPages out there.

You need not search to fill the BIG PICTURE in life, to know your purpose, para.  We have a new and better purpose with each new day.

A person as multi-faceted and talented as yourself need not worry about A PURPOSE for ALL time......you are limitless.......in a Universe filled with purpose.

This forum served a vital purpose.  All these individuals have run to rescue.......share and uplift.  In order to do this, they each had to reach inside and pull out something "positive"......something to brighten your mood....and in so doing, they brightened their own.
Thank you for that!   I believe this was your purpose for today.  You should believe it too!

Tomorrow...you and I and everyone will find another purpose.

The most positive thing I can say about life that really puts it in perspective is it’s important to remember that God did not make us for this world. Our home is in eternity. What is eternity like in comparison to this life? If we were to take a cable and shoot it out around this earth and take a pen and make a scratch on the cable, maybe 1/64th of an inch, that’s about how long our life is here on this earth in comparison to eternity. listen to this - start at 11:15 http://files.secc.org/sermons/sermon-221.mp3
