Not totally true. My Brother In Law did everything right, ate right got plenty of exercise, he was a Gym Coach and never stopped walking or canoeing or any of those sports, and he got cancer and died a few years ago. He was young! A mere 60 something!
I'm way over 30, and I think the cosmetics companies have a lot of women thinking they'll be "showing signs of aging" at 28. (We hear it on the infomercials.) In reality, unless someone drastically gains weight or gets too much sun, "signs of aging" don't start showing up until around the 50th birthday (and even then they can be fairly minor). This is information "the cosmetics companies don't want you to know".
I particularly "love" the infomercial where they make a big deal about how Cindy Crawford hasn't aged a bit in the 10 years since she was 28/29. It always makes me think, "Well, most people don't. Let's see Cindy Crawford 10 or 12 years from now, after using the magical melon extract." Then again, I once worked with a young woman (27) who "worked on" her tan faithfully, and she had her face leathered up like an 80-year-old.
I have an old friend..I mean we have been friends for a long time...who is 2 years younger then me. She tends to be bitter and revengful and holds on to grudges. In the past 2 yeras she has aged tremndously, and I am pretty sure smoking doesnt help!!
All three of my children are over thirty. I didn't have a trauma at thirty, forty, or fifty, and I don't expect one next year when I hit sixty. I am still teaching martial arts and working out almost every day. I thought when I got to this age that I would be spending my time watching TV. People are more vital at an older age these days.
Oh, I'm planning ahead for the giant, disturbing, horrible, trauma of moving into the next decade. 40 was bad for me. With 50 I went into denial for a while. I think I'm just going to have to start lying about my age once I hit that next decade.
Cher made me laugh when she was being interviewed and talking about being over 60. I'm paraphrasing here, but she was asked about the increased wisdom that comes with age and said she said something like, "Once you get to be around 40, how much smarter are you going to get after that?"
Harvey, very impressive. As I mentioned above, I don't plan to have the guts to be able to tell the truth once I hit double-thirty. Nobody would guess it based on your picture. (We need to know if there are any double-40's on here. )
When the March Q&A Contest was announced and there was mention of daily drawings for hubs, I had the idea that it was the perfect time to try out the HubChallenge with the added bonus of using Questions to inspire my writing. Last night when I should have been in bed it dawned on me that March...
They say it takes 21 days to create a habit. My goal is to hone my writing skill, write quality articles and make new friends here. Who is crazy enough to join me? Come on! We can do it together. Meredith
I'm just coming back after a several year hiatus, and one of the most exciting things that started when I was here was the HubChallenge. Originally, it was 30 hubs in 30 days. Now I see it's changed to either updating your hubs or 30 hubs in 60 days. I tried the original once, and I failed...
Figured the classic challenge was a good first personal challenge. Feasible yet difficult for someone with limited free writing time. Ah well I will do my best. Wish me luck. I will begin tomorrow on May 1st. If anyone else cares to join me you are welcome and godspeed.
I was wondering what others who have already participated in thirty hubs in thirty days challenges in the past think about the unique and distinct differences between the two are. Do most of you who are familiar with a challenge such as the 30/30 challenge or similar challenge, believe that this...
