Jerrico, you started to annoy me again. If you don't stop right here, you will have to fight against more people than Isabella alone...
Veronica, I hope you share with us anything you learn.
I think it is good that we talk about these things on the forums. I never really thought about what I would do if I found someone stealing my stuff, but it would be very upsetting. I'm glad we (most of us) can offer support and advice to one another.
Let's try to keep this on topic, okay guys?
Several of the garden bloggers that I know were having their content scraped a couple of months ago. The site was totally not helpful when they reported the thefts, so they went to the hosting company next. The site was shut down in a matter of a couple of days. Not long after, the exact same people started a new site, with a new hosting company, and started the same crap all over again. My friends went through the process again, and again the host shut the site down. We were just surprised that they were dumb enough to do it twice Going to the hosting company does work.
Yes, even garden bloggers get their content stolen
Dude, you post around here like you are actually a better person than myself or Isa, and yet you follow her around these forums like a dog sniffing a bitch in heat, making little digs in forum posts that have nothing to do with whatever arguments you've had with her. Maybe you should start looking at your own anger issues because you clearly have major ones.
so let me get this straight. I interact with the forum, all of it not just where she goes, (are you kidding me?) the new posts show up on my front page where I come in here from, just like you. as for be being better than anyone, that I am not. Being nicer than some and utilizing commons courtecy and sense I do try, but when the likes of you and isabella cross my path with this holier than though attitude (you two seem to stick together pretty nicely) sure I'm going to say something, people like you dont like people like me with a backbone defending myself and thats fine, its your issue not mine.
I love how you try to cherry pick posts and call those the only posts I respond to, hmm wonder where your issues lie? yes that was a pun. I dont have anger issues, I have dealing with mean spirited people issues, and yes I respond back like everyone else in here who you and she have bitchslapped for some reason. Karma is no reason to start talking shit.. did I insult her personal life? no, so whose being the real bitch here? me? I hardly think so. I've read your hubs by the way and you have much to learn about writing a decent hub on a decent topic.. how much do you make? .07 a month? at least my hubs are relevant, informative and yes unique and original, you hub about what? mickey mouse vacations at disneyland? wow such marvelous girth to your talents.. I wonder why you attack me so.. in the hub, and earnings department no doubt.. do you need to talk about this? or would my picking apart your shorcommings just irritate you?
I'm sure if I wrote tiny useless crap too I'd have that many hubs as you but I prefer quality and original thinking, hubs that people will actually like to read, even seek out.. I have 13 and 7 in the oven so to speak.. as for earnings they will come, I'm chasin the fun and writing right now.. unlike you who yearns to shoplift the paycheck with your rants..
Yes, I can see how hard you try to utilize common courtesy. But you're free to attack my hubs if it makes you feel better.
I was going to leave this alone, but I can't get it out of my mind... Jerrico, you started it with the rude "karma" comment... If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all. You could have said something productive to the conversation, but instead you had to attempt to start a fight...
I believe you are in the wrong. As you have just attacked someone and their writting.
You do not have the right to demean anyone. Neither does anyone else.
I am actually offended for Embitca, and can't believe you've stooped as low as you did. For a 32 year old man, you act childish.
Isabella, I apologize to you for this. I really hope you get this straightened out, as copy and pasting someone else's work is childish, immature, and lazy. I really feel for you. Please do keep us updated.
Having had some of my stuff stolen and realized there is practically nothing you can do to stop it, here is an idea and what I do with my other blogs:
Add a few links in the post to other content you have written. On the whole, this stuff, as Misha says, is stolen by bots. This person may not even be a person.
Usually, they steal it intact, with the links included, but it is work for them to remove them. I have got a few good back links by doing this.
Well as we seem to have digressed a little, here is an idea:
Thanks Mark that's a very good idea - we are off topic (again) - I think the type of stalking being described between 2 contributers is rare and presumably starts off with a real-life contact, stealing content to make money from it as Isabella and others have had on this thread is way common and is a) a complement - they've only taking the "top" content and b)purely done for monetary gain - so play them at their own game
Isabella my girlfriend makes you look pretty ugly you can go to my myspace to see her pictrures but I warn you you may become jealous and come back here and prove it by insulting me further. insults show insecurities in the insulter, you seem to be lonely and this hub thing is your life.. missing the singing thing when people worshiped you? whats your problem? besides blaming all of them on me?
It's more about the respect she has generated by her demeanor here and in her hubs. Nothing to do with her sex.
So, we are back to deleting silly posts
Well, if people quoted you already, you are making more fool of yourself than of them
Jerco,
I wish you get (and karma will make sure you do, in this life or in any further reincarnation) that same kind of support you just gave to Isa, when you will need a support. This will teach you a lesson what is appropiate and when.
Thanks to the ladies (and men!) who commented, I appreciate it - I am bowing out of MY thread now, because Jerrico has ruined it with his usual behavior.
I'll create a new thread in the form of an update in a day or two.
Thanks again.
Idunn thats horrible. Doubt she'll be any happier after shes read that though.
You have to be fairly mental to do what she has. Couple of clowns short of a circus really.
I disappeared off the internet for 11 months and she was still talking about me. Dude, she made alt names to stalk herself during my long absence to claim it was me and got caught through matching IPs. You have no idea.
There isn't anything I can do or not do to make her stop.
Yes, she considers me telling people she is stalking me an attack on her. It is not. It's a statement of fact. If I can't say it out loud because it's an attack on her she gets to victimize me twice. Once through the attacks and then again by silencing me from mentioning it.
I'm tired of it.
Iðunn,
OMG! I am so, so sorry to hear that you have to go through that. Mine isn't as awful as yours but given time she certainly has the potential to be as damaging.
If these were printed newspaper articles, especially those by paid authors, this would be a felony, and something would be done. Even if the authors were not paid, this would be simple to get resolved. Because this is on the internet (and the pay is either "indirect" or not there at all) there is an uphill battle having your rights defended.
I am a writer. My blog is everything. Seeing it stolen and manipulated is like being emotionally and cerebrally raped. I am thousands into a lawyer trying to have it stopped. I can't even remember the last time I got a full night's sleep. Like you I shake when I open certain computer pages and launch searches to update my case. I've written things I'm afraid to share. It's affected everything. (And Stacie, I will certainly let everyone know if I have any info that will help, thanks for your thoughts.) Iðunn, I haven't gone through the extreme you have, and my experience with it has been shorter, but I really do get it, and my heart goes out to you, my friend.
The law hasn't caught up to the internet yet. When Megan Meier was stalked to death by a woman like that, they couldn't charge the woman with anything.
I know how you feel about your words. MIne are important to me, even though I have zero interest in earning here and more or less just blog. I'm so sorry you are going through a form of this too. Yes, it is like being raped. You have my complete sympathy and all I can offer you is to say I believe you, I understand and I know you'll get through it somehow.
I did.
Warmth and affection to a sister in my situation. You hang in there too.
Sad thing, this kind of cyberharassment is exploding. It was estimated last year that upwards of 500,000 people are being cyberstalked now and it's expected to increase.
Mark,
I'm sorry, I neglected to thank you for that idea. It's one I plan to implement. Any little thing I can do, I will.
No, no thanks needed - I just didn't want it to get lost in the thread - I think it is just about your best defence.
Yes. Thank you very much Mark. Quoting yourself is also a good idea. That way your words will echo eternally on the bots' webite. Hmm. Don't think that made any sense!
It isn't off topic.
I had no real life contact. My writing is being stolen, just like Isabella's. Ads on the thief's site make her money on my hard work.
Sorry Veronica I thought you had a similar experience to lounn (sorry haven't got the keyboard to spell that right) with an entire profile/ online identity theft going on as the person doing is deliberately trying to pass their self of as her/him. If they are "merely"copying content - don't get mad, don't let it affect your life/writing, get even and back in control: the 2 best ways to do that is either do what Mark suggests to get the backlink or go to Google (assuming they are using Adsense) to get them banned from Adsense. Remember its probably not a real person finding your blog and copying it - its a bot, someone wrote a program, its not personally directed to you - so yes this sort of stuff is common - but you are hardly going to win by going to lawyers - they are unlikely to be resident in the same jurisdiction as the thief and they are going to cost a bomb - a cost you will never get back
Additionally, It isn't rare. My attorneys have a list of thousands of cases of this on my blog host alone.
Sympathies to everyone who's suffering from stalking/copying etc. It all sounds horrible, and I hope you're able to get some satisfaction.
I'm just curious, how do you all find out you're being copied? Do you do regular searches for your content by Googling? If so, how often?
Lissie - It isn't a bot, it is a 31 year old woman in Canada, that has made money and a writing reputation for herself on my work, and on other people's work. I am pursuing criminal charges for copyright infringement in both countries. My writing is very important to me, and I can see that you don't understand that, or the situation, but have made a lot of assumptions on what I "should" do and feel. I don't understand how you can decide going to lawyers isn't going to help me especially since I have a hearing next month, or that the value of my writing, integrity, and copyrights is not equal to how much money this is costing me.
I posted on this thread to show Isabella my support and let her know I understand what she is going through, and that I will share any legal info I can get with her. What I am going through both in civil and criminal court directly relates. I can't speak for Iðunn but I think she was showing support and the same understanding for Isa. I really appreciated Iðunn's words of support for me, and I hope she could find some comfort in mine. I'm sorry you decided that was "off topic." It won't happen again, I'm off this thread.
Veronica, don't be too hard on Lissie. She was trying to be helpful by encouraging you to keep things in proportion, but I don't think she fully understands how you feel about writing.
People write for different reasons. I suspect writing is not a passion for Lissie, as it is for you - it's a means to an end. To Lissie, having her work stolen would be upsetting but she could pick herself up and move on.
I can't say writing's a passion for me, either, but I can understand your feelings, Veronica, because I feel the same way about dancing. Right now, I have a torn cartilage so I haven't been able to dance at all, even socially, for several months - and it may be several more before I'm back on the dance floor. I tell non-dancers that and they say "oh, what a shame". I tell dancers, and they understand why I'm miserable, because dancing is such a fundamental part of my being.
It's like that for you with writing. It's so much a part of you that you don't really care what it costs to defend it. Good luck in your fight!
she is doing it here too
http://www.myistop.com/blogs/yasirm79
Im sorry Veronica if I upset you - and it wasn't a comment on the value of your writing or its importance to you or even how much money it makes you
The point is that lawyers tend to much better paid than writers and that their profession is built around an adversarial approach to dispute resolution. I have seen people "win" in court about something they are passionate about but loose out really badly in the end because nothing was resolved and in the end the only person who came out in front were the lawyers who get paid regardless of the court outcomes.
Your posts, and Isabellas suggest that you are both furious that someone else making money from your work - totally fair enough - but that person must be completely money orientated -why else would they bother - I still think getting the culprit from Adsense (which is forever as Darkside said, and for all their sites) will hurt them where it hurts.
Wrong. I am furious about being plagiarized. And leave me out of your discussion.
Good luck Isabella. I tried to post a comment (with a link to your original) on that 3rd one, but the comments are moderated so I'm guessing it won't end up being posted.
I tried to post a comment as well, and emailed the site. I figure it helps to defend the hubpages community, even if it isn't my work...it could be my work next time.
Thank you! I saw a bunch of comments there, thank you to everyone!
I just read this about an hour ago and decided to email the site.
I just got a response from admin.

Just helping out my fellow hubbers.
I am sorry this has happened to you Isabella. I am trying to take a little break here from hubbing as I have been very ill, but stopped by today and read all this crap. I can't believe it and I am just sorry that people would stoop to this sort of tactic. Hope you are feelling better.
DJ
This hubber is in my fan club as well. Is there anything we can do anyone to get her out of here? I saw her on google for that hub, what gall, omg, I just cannot believe this.
She left the most ridiculous comment on my hub and she appears to be banned now.
http://www.myistop.com/blogs/yasirm79
This one's been removed. Hurrah!
I have mixed feelings about this. I'm outraged at the wholesale plagiarism, and got really mad.
Then I went to check if any of my hubs were used. But, no, mine's not good quality for her. She's choosy about what she copies.
Now I guess, the other one will go out, too.
All 3 of the copied links are gone now.
Unfortunately, mine is gone from Google as well.
Despite what started this and despite the occasional personality clashes -
It is nice for me to see hubpages acting as a proper community. It is also good to see some quick action on the part of the site itself.
At least we all heave another line of defence against this sort of thing.
That's bad news, but I think they will reappear soon. And checked her profile. It's still there, but no hubs or fans.
She had commented saying Adsense was going to ban me for copyright violations on *her* article. Considering how quickly my page disappeared from Google, and those copies were still up, I think its safe to assume she actually filed a DMCA violation with them. If she did, and thats why mine was removed, thats quite scary that it was so easy and I wasnt even notified.
Ive contacted Google several times now, no reply, and Id imagine it will be that way for a while. In the meantime, I dont really count it a victory when my own content essentially becomes collateral damage.
Cant say I find that encouraging.
It shouldn't work that way. If Google removes a result because of a DMCA violation, it generally will say right at the bottom of the search results page that a page has been removed for that reason.
This is the takedown page at Google, so you might want to look this over and see how it actually works:
http://www.google.com/adsense_dmca.html
It will be harder on her now that she's compunded her crime, by filing that violation. And when the other hubbers who are victims also join you in filing complaints, it will be very clear who stole from whom. Or won't it? I wish I knew.
It is also copying from hubpages.com also, legally speaking, isn't it? Google would know that. And your hubs will continue to be while hers are all gone.
And yours will continue to be googled. Let me google your name and see.
sorry, my mistake. Should google those copied hubs' content and see.
No, Kenny, that article was removed from Google, as far as I can tell. The copied links are still there, they are just disabled. Mine was completely removed from the search engine.
Im very familiar with that page by now. But if you really think thats not it, do you have another explanation for how my page is completely gone from google? I mean gone - not just down in rank.
With DMCA, if a complaint is made the page will usually be removed quickly without any investigation. However if you file a counter claim notification that can just as quickly get the page reinstated. There is potential legal liability for making false claims or counter claims.
http://www.google.com/adsense_dmca.html#counter
I have no idea what happened in this particular case, but the page was obviously there yesterday and it's gone now.
I don't. I wish I did. It is just really weird. I really hope Google responds to you and soon.
I believe the profile of this 5846024395706 or whatever person is being investigated, as a good number of the hubpages hubs she stole are gone.
I think I-m in the line of fire, although I couldn't help laughing a little.
well i just googled my hub that was stolen on both the sites and my "original" is not there, hers is though on the blog site, meanwhile my readership goes down as hers climbs, so i seem to be the one being punished by google, i have filed a complaint with adsense about her profile and am awaiting a reply. http://www.flixya.com/post/mkbuis/96769 … ss_network
i also created an account on that site and wrote this post.
http://www.flixya.com/post/jimmythejock … se_revenue
i have also complained to the site directly and they seem to be refusing to take action unless i get a solicitor involved.........jimmy
Jimmy, I would report her to flixya first. This kind of thing happens all the time, and it looks like they are equipped to deal with it. (edit: oh I see you already did, sorry. I'm pretty sure if they don't respond to a DMCA complaint they can get in a heap of trouble though. And a DMCA complaint should not require a lawyer.)
http://www.flixya.com/dmca_copyright
I like your icon on that site, Jimmy. It's very appropriate
Thanks Paul I have written again to them, explaining that I have the original copy of that hub, and that i took it from an essay i wrote whilst that i was at college, which is true i just updated it a little for new developments. I hope to recieve a better response.....jimmy
I just stumbled upon this free report on search engine myths, that deals with duplicate content issue, too. I think it would be beneficial to read for those affected with this plagiarism issue.
It's an interesting reading either way, and contains some pretty sound advice on optimizing for google. You'll have to give your email though, but you can always unsubscribe later, if you don't like what they send you. The text is well worth the hassle. Here is the link:

Yes, it is my affiliate link, and I will get 25c for every person who signs up
PS You don't have to sign up to the link exchange service on the second page if you don't want to. It is not necessary to get the report. Just scroll all the way down, and you'll see download link ...
I did Misha, and if I'm not satisfied, you can send me 25c

I would like to make a suggestion to the TEAM here on HUB Pages. I feel that it would be a positive improvement here on the HUB, if all of the activity that is perpetuated by Hubbers, were made known. For instance... apparently - anyone can go around giving thumbs UP or DOWN to a fellow...

Hi,My name is Terry, and I established my first hub about 24 hours ago. I'm very much into Affiliate sales programs and I wanted to share reviews and such of products I'd bought and use to help people decide where the best programs can be found and what tools to use to maximize your...

I occasionally hub-hop, but most of the time I come away from it feeling like I haven't really accomplished much as far as "improving HubPages" goes.So tonight, just for laughs, I decided to type "mesothelioma" into the search box at the top of HubPages' homepage. I then sorted...

How do I know what needs to be revised, since all of my hubs have been flagged as 'needs revision'?My hubs says they need revision. How do I determine what to revise? And why suddenly all of them needs revision? Why it did not appear earlier?
by Carolee Samuda 12 years ago
I was hub hopping and had to flag a few hubs for being substandard (word count). One hub had exactly 10 words and 2 photos. There should be a way the system prevents you from publishing a hub like that except if it's in the poetry section.
