Google AdSense DMCA complaint form

Notice to the Site Owner on his personal site:
Be Advised that you have 48 hours to Remove all 22 Articles owned and identified as copyrighted by the above named author, stolen from Hubpages.com and posted within your site Docstore.
I am author of same and advise you that my documents are not of Pubic Domain status contrary to your site declaration that such content has been legally sourced.
I am aware that your company has also illegally obtained thousands of further documents from other writers within Hubpages and that collectively those articles have received in excess of 250,000 page views up to this time.
Should you neglect to action this request within the aforementioned timeframe; the writer will advance legal proceedings against your interests without further notice.
Pearldiver nzpol.
Let's see these guys screw up.... I'm happy to spend the legal $s.
You GO, Pearl!!! I've spent all morning filing DMCA's and reporting them to Google Adssense. Also wrote "reviews" of my stolen hubs. Very irritating, poor HP has its work cut out for it today.

this is utterly amazing.he's being honored!!
He probably deserves it! The CEO isnt responsible for the theft.
ANyways heres the company phone number

OH, you've got to watch this!!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8mFzvT32 … re=related
hmmm, I have a youtube account, so I'm going to leave a comment, although right now, there are none!! you should hear this guy.
sorry, for some reason, the link didn't work. I keep trying with no luck. the title is docstoc.com Q&A.
The Buck Stops There mate!
Yep... the Chief. Is that not Why you are suggesting bypassing the indians?
I've "reviewed" each of my stolen docstoc articles and they are being BRISKLY taken down, by the way. I mean in a matter of minutes, I highly recommend you do the same. I just state this article is mine and has been stolen from HP along with 1000's of others.
I just gotta say that I am glad I put my work up here, if I was defending my work on a blog alone I would not
1. realize my work has been stolen in the first place, not so quickly at any rate
2. be able to get this theft as seriously taken, being a lone writer complaining to the site and wondering who else to complain to
I know that it is totally devastating for some members here having their hard work stolen. I do think that hub pages itself will be able to take the kind of action that is needed to put the breaks on this sort of scam. We can make our complaints and should, but hub pages can get legal action taken if it gets to that point, I would not be able to do that on my own and I really appreciate knowing that if this site does not clean its files of copied works they are going to be in serious hot water! These things take time its true but it will happen, these duplicates will be removed and if necessary legal action will happen. I have faith in HP, this site rocks!
Okay well according to the video Doc stoc says they are going to hunt them down and kill their families. That will work.
back to work for me, this is too time consuming. I left two comments and immediately they were removed.
Spoke with site CEO, he specifically called me back to say that he did know about the issue, he does care and it will be resolved within 48 hours.
he was very nice, looks like he does deserve that award
Spoke with site CEO, he specifically called me back to say that he did know about the issue, he does care and it will be resolved within 48 hours.
he was very nice, looks like he does deserve that award
does that mean each one of us has to tell him what article is ours?
i have to search for all of my articles and report each one i find on their site individually?
Nope Stacie, they know the user names that Thranax tracked down, they have to take down the articles in chunks to keep their site operational.
Since ya'll are reporting seeing the articles come down, I seriously suggest enjoying your day off if you have one, it really looks like this issue is resolved
Thank God it's been taken care of. Way to go everyone!
Well Done Everyone Especially Thranax and Sunforged.
And for the RuleBook Huggers ..... Stand Up For Yourselves!
Each time you do that and win.... You rewrite the Rules!!
But consider the potential effects of the actions that put you at risk in the first place and never accept that those parties did not intend to do damage to you!
Good Work Hubbers
All this makes me want to flag duplicate stuff that is posted on HubPages more. If someone can join that site and do this, they could also join this site and do the same thing with other people's writing.
Docsite does not give you the ability to flag articles and I can see that is why such a thief could exist.
No..... If you go into the article page; you can flag it.
You are right about dup content here... maybe your point will echo throughout enough for it to be wiped out here.
Well one thing that has been made utterly clear in these many pages of forum posts is that we ARE a community and we banned together to stop someone from copying content...for over a 24 hour period of time, we watched out for each other.
Sunforged and thranx are amazing MEMBERS who helped bring this issue to a head and get it resolved.
As a community, we CAN do things to change what we don't like. So start flagging the copied content you see on Hub Pages, flag whatever Hub you see that does not fit into the TOS. Lets do a bit of our own housekeeping
like I said lat night....my adsense has virtually stopped....
I don't know if they are responsible or not..but it's suspicious
since some articles of mine are there
SHIFTQ IS GONE! WOOT! I was just posting reviews stating the content was stolen on my articles on stocdoc. I went to do the last one and everything went POOF "this profile does not exist". A search shows at least shiftq is GONE!
Looks like they have gotten most of them down. I did notice that shift4 and 5 are still up, but all my articles have been removed.
oh right! I just check for my article and it's no longer available!!!
good work thranax!!!
it took a member to keep a vigil...I wonder how much adsense money we lost?
i may look into writing for paid articles sites this.
i've sold some before and maybe this was a wake up call
Great job sunforged and thranax.
I still think we are missing the point to an extent - and should be more concerned about traffic dropping here and the crap posted here.
Like many of us tried to say. Be patient and give them a chance before jumping to extreme measures of harassment.
Still not seeing it, Whitney - I can imagine that the CEO is very grateful that this was brought to his attention. No harrassment, but advice from one businessman (Sunforged) to another. I run my own business and hope that somebody would do the same if the positions were reversed - in this case, the potential ramifications for his company were huge. A Google slap was the least of their worries.
In fact, if they can guarantee that this type of thing won't happen again, I may be interested in using their site. Their swift action could lead to positive outcomes
There was No Harassment and we resolved the problem that you had as well.....
Perhaps you may manage a simple thanks; instead of a snide remark?
In business; you deal with such things directly and swiftly or you loose any advantage that you have!
Whoa...just saw this forum on this problem. I googled one of my hubs and found about 30 links leading to this expired page:
http://anejen.sitstay.hop.clickbank.net/
Each link on Google's search results lists a different URL but all lead to that same site. Anybody know how someone is doing this?
Thanks.
I'd say the activity I noticed during lunch on Twitter could've been seen as harrassment when coupled with the likely throngs of emails and DMCA reports and phone calls received.
Thank you sunforged for your efforts.
Maybe next time something like this happens (because it has happened before and will happen again, it's the way of the internet) the affected parties will refrain from accusation, negative commentary, and thousands of posts on the topic.
Can we return to our regularly scheduled HubLove now?
Thanks to sunforged, thranax and everyone else who helped identify the problem and took steps to get it resolved. Great work! It looks like corrective action is in full swing.
Now shouldn't we brainstorm about ways to prevent this from happening again or ways to identify it immediately if it does?
I'm the farthest thing from a programming expert but I suspect it's probably impossible, or damn near, to prevent hubs from being stolen/copied even by embedding links and author's names and such. Seems like only a matter of time before someone finds a way around most such precautions, no?
If so, maybe we could attack the problem from another angle too. Maybe each of our accounts could have a HubPages-designed plagiarism checker. (Bear with me...)
For example, as soon as you hit the "publish hub" button perhaps several random lines of your text could be selected and stored in the plagiarism checker's memory. Then each hubber could run their "personalized" plagiarism checker program whenever they wanted and have it search the web for all of their stored lines of text at once. (Instead of checking one hub at a time.) That way plagiarism could be identified quickly, before any (or much) profit could be made by the thief.
Does that make sense? I'm not sure if I described my idea clearly at all... And I definitely have no idea if such a program/application/whatever-they're-called is even possible to write or install on HubPages.
Just some thoughts. Don't laugh too hard, you might crack a rib.
This is a great idea. However, launch complaint with adsense
https://www.google.com/adsense/support/ … _complaint
till Hubpages team do this.
I have done this for one of my stolen hub detected by Tharanx.
Thanks,
Jyoti Kothari
for your stolen hub
It's just the way of the internet, Sara - the same thing is constantly occurring all the time to someone, somewhere. If there was an easy way of stopping it, sites everywhere would be implementing it.
I've been thinking about adding something to the end of my Hubs such as "This article is published on HubPages. If you are reading it on any other site, it has been stolen" - but if I want readers to report the theft to me, how do I enable that? If I post an email address I'll just get flooded with spam.
The other thing is that I'm going to link more within my Hubs, both to my other sites and to my other Hubs. That way, if an article is stolen with the links preserved, I'll get some benefit.
Yep, I know. That's why I suggested creating a variation/modification of a standard plagiarism checker here at HubPages that would allow hubbers to quickly and routinely check all their hubs at one time. Being alerted to plagiarism as soon as it occurs would at least minimize any lost income.
There must be a programmer here who knows how to create a program/application like that...
So I just got an email to one of my DMCA complaints. One of my articles has been removed:
"Dear Alyssa,
Thank you for taking the time to provide the required DMCA notification. The documents you identified in your DMCA notifications have been removed from docstoc. Additionally, the user who uploaded your documents has been removed from docstoc.
Once again, thank you for your assistance and cooperation in this matter.
Best regards,
The docstoc Team"
Thanks again everybody!! One down...a bunch to go!!
Funny how everyone got all up in arms about the problem, and only three people seemed to care when I solved it: http://hubpages.com/forum/post/432938
I was at work so I couldn't respond sooner.
Still, I ran over there and offered my thanks and I remembered to thank you last night when you said you would see to it that it would all be better real soon.
Maddie, I hate to say it, but when you made that post, it was old news. We knew much earlier today that it had been taken care of and that shift(whatever) had been removed. I think at that point this morning, everyone tried to regroup and get busy making up time that they had lost.
maybe because the community solved it for themselves 6 hours ago?
Snarky, snarky!
I see that thread now. Of course, we appreciate how the community mobilized on this. I'm just a little bit sore about how I personally have been treated through this.
Maddie, I'm not sure how you perceive your treatment was, but I know that I, personally, will apologize wholeheartedly if you don't feel you were recognized for your efforts. I (we) adore you and everything that you do for us and appreciate the concern that you showed and the effort that you put into this. Thank you again.
*Yoshi offers up a set of 24 digital roses*
I think everyone was to wrapped up in the throw of things to realize just how many players worked through this to make it all better.
I know you played a big part Maddie and don't think there isn't a day that goes by that you aren't appreciated ... by myself and many others.
I think those members who played an active role in all of this felt a bit of a victory in unmasking the villain and forgot that the added weight of the hubpages staff most certainly made for the quick resolve.
I set it before and I'll say it again ... If I could get the roses into the USB port, I would definitely send then your way. You're a hell of a lady for putting up with the lot of us, and I admire you for being able to do so without losing your cool and going bananas on some of these people.
Unfortunately this is the reality when you are involved in the administration of anything.
You are the first to be kicked when something goes wrong, and last to be thanked for your efforts in resolving problems.
I'm sure that everyone's efforts played a part in getting this situation resolved, especially Sunforged, Thranax, and Maddie.
The situation was also helped by the co-operation of the DocStoc owners, who REALLY should have had some form of systems in place to detect and prevent such large scale additions to their database.
So Thanks again everyone,
HUBPAGES RULES!
Eric Graudins.
lol, sorry maddie, i meant to have one of those winky smiley faces too , but my netbook has tiny buttons !
it's possible that many people (like me) weren't logged on to read this until a little bit ago. i'm glad that this guy was kicked to the curb and grateful to you and thranax and sunforged, and my fellow hubbers. i think everyone being on top of this sent that little creep running for the hills. good job!
The articles on docstoc are indexed very fastly. More sites will soon make complaints , especially as the spammer is trying to copy the entire sites. I have a feeling that he is a Website Eater ("Bone Eater" Movie)
If he stops creating new profiles , we all are happy. Cheers.
[b]After reading Darkside's post from the other thread i remember it was Scribd which has many copied hubs in it.
Thranax, many many thanks for your alerting us to this painful issue.
What you did for us yesterday is a great help to us hubbers, and we appreciate your time and effort.
Thanks once again.
Thranax,
I think that a payment to you from HubPages would be entirely appropriate.
You must have spend a LOT of hours on this which has resulted in a direct benefit of Hubpages and the community.
cheers,
Eric G.
More then 10 hours. I just felt like I had to do it, mainly because my Hubs were there too, if I just got mine removed it would hurt the site, so I let everyone know. I mean, I listed the accounts, tracked them, found other peoples Hubs who couldn't find any etc. Even screenshotted them as proof.
~thranax~
And thanks so much!! Seriously - you went above and beyond!!
What amazed me was how he was scarfing 20,000 docs a day from various sources. He attacked us late and others earlier ... makes me wonders why the other sites never caught on.
Thank you thranax, Darkside and to my newest friend on HP Irohner who e-mailed me and let me know that my articles were snatched. (( Big Hugs)) to all and thank you!!!
Maddie, I'm guessing I'm not alone when I say I was a little disgusted to see how quick a few people were to start "attacking" (maybe that's not the right word) HubPages and you when this thing was discovered. Of course, as in offline life, it is often the least reasonable people who are the most vocal.
Thank you so much thranax
All of your efforts greatly appreciated by many I'm sure
That person is not stopping. He has created a new profile
pbq7k6d9
And added 2000 documents already and Copying Hubs and Question and Answer pages also.
I don't understand what his idea is.
I send an email to Docstoc. I hope others can also do the same and look for new such ids.
It's an automated script....let docstoc sort it out!!
I found several that I know were taken from here on this persons account and sent a note to the staff at DS to let them know they had another situation building on their hands. It looks as if this person has several accounts set up in the p's to start downloading docs to. You guys might want to check it out.
Yep.... Apathy allows the problem to stay.
File the forms again guys!
Mr. pbq7k6d9 is up to 4,000+ uploads on his new username. He's targeting dog and "desi auntie" hubs (among others) and has taken several from Whitney05 and alexadry. I'm sure docstoc will rectify the situation, but they need to put a long-term solution into place or they're just gonna be fighting fires on a daily basis.
Cheers Irohner... They need to file complaints again so that it shows (on record) that this event has occurred again.
This is Not solely Their Problem.... It is also Ours and will continue to be Ours long after they have covered their butts!
Sadly it is our problem and we really have no way to protect ourselves, aside from filing complaints. Thank goodness we have smart people on this forum who are finding these issues.
How can one person continue to get an adsence account?
I feel like going into all my hubs and putting a copy write disclaimer on it with a link to my hubpage. I assume that will show up since he is just lifting the articles and not doing a copy paste.
it is discomforting, isn't it?? sometimes when I check my google traffic, I wonder about the sources coming from these very obscure places? I realize it's a global community, but it's such a violation to see our work lifted so easily, somehow there must be ways to prevent it.
oh well, today I'm lounging poolside with the latest dan brown book. I need a break from the computer.
Yeah! maybe i should take a break too. I was so stressed out yesterday, it set me back on my hubchallenge by a few hubs. Still haven't gotten over this mess, which seems to be rearing its head again. Oh what the heck!
I'll just take a break and chill a bit.
I clicked on the link provided and it said "profile not found". Guess DS also pulled out this one too and they did not wait anymore for us to file the complaints. hope I'm right about this.
Thanks for the link shinujohn.
I cant get to the new "author" can anybody post a link to it, DOc SToc site keeps timing out
I have No Doubt That Docstoc staff would be monitoring Our Forums to see how we are reacting. They are easily able to do so. Have you considered this?
@ Jane: Having copyright notification on your work is important.
However, on perusing my hubs on this site; the copyright notice was absent on their posting.
Fellow writers I think we need to stand back and look at the big picture. this attack isn't to steal our hubs. its ment to compormise the integrity of both sites. if we stop writing hupages dies- if docstc has to put out fire after fire it dies. This is a job for the hub pages team
Then look at the Entire Big Picture (Commercially) and take the steps required to ensure Your commercial viability.
Hi Marye....
Are you saying your works from other sites has been stolen by the same party and placed on this same site Docstoc?
May I also ask what your other site hosts have done about that situation?
I am saying that there are literally thousands of scraper sites that pick up articles and blog posts. For food writers it is a fact of life that is frustrating. We find our recipes and images everywhere without attribution..including national magazines....In the past three years one large network I work for has had to involve the corp. lawyers on the average of every other month.
If you think this is the only site that does this, or that this is an unusual occurrence you are mistaken.
It is also not the responsibility of the host to handle it. Maddie was sweet and it is great that Hubpages did handle it...but that is not the norm in most cases.
Well it looks like they are still stealing articles,as my views are down again
I have found several of mine there, thanks lrohner and all you guys (thranax!) for the info. I am filling out some complaints.
The more of us that do, perhaps the better. I know my views have dropped off sharply starting last week, in spite of publishing a dozen new hubs.
I have a question about this place, as well - I found quite a few of mine there, but it looks like they just redirect to the author...I am not sure. So then that would be a good backlink? Can someone help me with this one?
It's called BlogCatalogue.com
It came up on Google before my hub and doesn't show any authorship except them in the link...what are they about?
I am absolutely discusted with the theft. We all on HP must ban together and get HP to put a copyright on the bottom of EVERY page. Send HP a link to all work taken and re-used. Demand they do something. This is (in my belief) why we are all having problems on here with rankings and lots of other problems. HP has been penalized for this by the big G. This is hurting us all.
Hubpages is all copyrighted. You own your work, if you say its copyrighted with your own:
©Queenbe 2009
It doesn't stop anyone from taking anything. The internet is that open. If you block my right click copy, I can still take a picture to own it if I want. Hubpages really is doing all it can, and the only way to defend your work is to track it (virtually imposable) in some cases.
~thranax~
This already exists. You might want to read over your HubPages so that you become familiar with where it is.

Just wanted to give everyone a heads up that HP has started the process of mining articles from Discover. The new Owlcation articles have the same title as the ones on Discover (in most cases) and the URLs are identical as well. The only difference is the beginning. For example,...

Do you include a copyright notice in your articles? Why or why not?I never do this, but I see that a lot of folks on here do. Just wondering what the opinions are out there.
by DK 12 years ago
This forum is a place for you to post hubs that you think are clearly of low quality and need flagging. Committed hubbers should follow this forum and check these hubs posted for quality when they have the time. If a hub has been clearly copied (for example from a PDF file that the plagiarism...
