Today we rolled out My Photos and the Title Tuner, two new Beta features that are available under My Account.
In My Photos you have access to all the photos you've ever uploaded to HubPages. You can organize them into albums, add a description to them for later use, search them, and easily use any of them as the starting point of a new hub or as your profile photo. Images from My Photos can be used and reused in the HubTool's Photo Capsule, but you can also use them as part of a question, answer, status update, or in the forums. We've also redesigned the My Photos Uploader (and the HubTool uploader) so that you can choose up to 20 images at a time. Eventually you'll also be able to easily upload photos from your mobile device into My Photos.
The Title Tuner is a feature that will benefit those of you that have some hubs that are already doing reasonably well in search engines. It allows you to quickly step through hubs that may benefit from title changes, see the search term stats and words that you should consider adding to the title. These tips are automatically generated, and are based on the search terms people are already using to find your hub. In our tests, these have helped generate more traffic, but they do require some care: regardless of what the tuner suggests, it's up to you to ensure that your title reads well, makes sense, and accurately represents the content of your hub.
On top of these two beta features, there were some bug fixes and a batch of small improvements to HubPages Answers. The biggest of these is that when someone asks a questions from a hub, a link to the hub will be included with the question in order to provide proper context.
Why are these features labeled Beta? It's because we are still working on them, but are so excited about their existence, that we wanted to go ahead and share them with you right now. Bug reports and feedback on how we can improve these features have will be invaluable as we work to fully integrate them into the HubPages product over the next couple of months.
As always, please let us know if you run in to any problems on the site or see any issues on these features that need work.
Thanks!
Thank you for your work in constantly improving HubPages. I just now published a new Hub and the photo uploader worked great. However, the photo capsules will not let me add a caption to explain to folks exactly what they are seeing in the picture. Each time I try to add a caption (or a photo capsule title) a box pops up asking me what website I want to go to, and it will not accept my answer, which is: None.
Sounds great! I love the idea of title tuner. It is very helpful. Good job!
This all sounds great but I have been trying to finish my hub before the end of the contest tomorrow and am running into problems. I upload the photos (more than one at a time which is GREAT!), title the capsule and save and then try to finish editing the hub and it never completes that task. When I go back, the photos have disappeared. I have loaded them over and over again with no results. It is now 1:24 AM. Going to bed. Hopefully the problem will be resolved in time for me to publish the hub tomorrow before the deadlike of this travel/map contest. Very frustrated tonight as you might imagine.
When the glitches are worked out...this will make loading the pictures much faster. Obviously have not given the title tuner a try yet...but sounds like it will be helpful.
STILL NOT OPERATING! It is now 9:36AM and I just reloaded some photos and saved them. Went to finish editing and it never completes that job. When I go to preview a page comes up that says my hub is no longer published. It was not published to begin with! I have to sign in with my name and password...click remember me (it never seems to do so) and this circle of events just keeps repeating. It is not as though I am a complete newbie. After almost 2 years of hubbing, I do know how these systems should be working. HELP! Suggestion for the future...PLEASE do not institute a new system a day before the end of a contest. It will be a shame if I cannot complete this hub that I have been working on in its entirety as it is one of the best ones I have ever done (in my opinion).
Our computer seems to be working in every other way...so not a computer issue.
Hi Peggy W - your entry seems to have come through alright, and the photos look great, so I take it everything turned out OK?
Hi Simone,
No...those were the ones already entered before the new photo capsule took effect. I have many others that I have been unable to enter which is too bad regarding the contest which has now ended. Whenever it starts working (just tried again with no luck!), I'll enter the others which will make the hub even better.
Simone, I have a similar problem. When I attempt to upload a photo it initially brings it in and shows it. When I try to publish the hub, it locks up in a never ending loading. I have to abandon the publish to get out of it which tosses me out of the system...for me this a step backwards. WB

I am also having problems. I have been trying to publish a new Hub for two days but it just hangs saying 'loading' for hours. When I go to my account it logs me out and when I go back in all my changes have been lost. I am going round in circles - hope the problems can be ironed out soon.
Thanks a lot for these features, I edited the titles of my hub. Very useful!
It is good. I updated with the suggestions. But some of the suggestions is not at all related to the topics.why it is so?
I am totally looking forward to the title tuner and my photos. I am all for convenience and having an easier time making my hubpages the best that they can be. Much gratitude to the staff for making things so great for us here!
Thank you..going to check out these new features.
thanks, i just used title tuner a minute ago. to get the record straight though, when it shows you the list of titles, are those like the ones that generate the least traffic due to the title format? is that it?
The titles at the top have the greatest potential for hits on search engines which increases if you incorporate the suggestions.
Sounds like a good update to this site looking forward to it.
The title turner works great! Thanks for this wonderful and easy to use tool!
Love the Title Tuner! It's great! It makes everything easier.
Sounds like some really cool tools, thanks for the information. I will definitely check them out!
Thanks, it is good news, we can better keep in touch each other among users. It is helpful.
Both great features made some changes and will see how they work out.
Pity we cannot sell our photos from hub pages to those tha would like to use them, provided of course one owns the copyright.
I really love the ability to credit the photographer with a link built right into the capsule! Thanks!
Reference the new addition to hubpages called Title Tuner. I have tried to augment this addition, but without success. I have tried Chrome, Firefox and IE, but nada! How much traffic are you calling "reasonable" to make this work?
I love HubPages - and the support you all put into the platform just rocks. Anyhow - I did have a question and will need to possibly post elsewhere - it used to be that we could change the meta description.
I see that function is disabled now? The "Summary" feature seems to be missing - or did I just miss it?
That's great, just noticed it. It has been a great help.
I just noticed it too. Its a shame that hubs with traffic can be fine tuned, but a dead hub remains dead forever (although of course the Title Tuner is a welcome addition!).
This may sound strange, but have you also put a circle around the page numbers in the forum threads? Or am I going crazy?
The suggestions are based on the searches that landed on your hub in the last 30 days. If the hub has little or no search traffic, we can't provide any suggestions. That doesn't mean you can't tune the title, of course, you just have to do it using the regular hub editor.
Can we update the title of hubs that are not yet published? I ask because of a typo in a title of one of my unpublished hubs.
Edited: I found out that I can change the title but what about the url?
No, you cannot change the URL. You wouldn't want to, anyway, as you probably have at least a few back links to the original URL, and it's the URL already ranked with Google.
I understand. The problem is that the hub I am speaking of is not yet published and the typo is in the url. Oh well, I will just start over with it. It's what I get for not taking time to check it for spelling errors before clicking continue.
Ryankett, you to funny, are you kidding or serious about the circle around page number? I havent seen it yet, but I am sure I will.
Ok, I have a small criticism with the Title Tuner.
Once you click on a title to expand (at which stage it gives you a suggestion for adding a word), there is no way to close the window which emerges (I suppose that is called collapse).
Could we have a collapse button? It has presented me with a list of about 50 hubs, it could be a nightmare to work with if I expand them all and cant collapse them again.
Sounds great! I have secretly hoped for a "my photos" option since I work from so many different locations.
Cant wait to check it out.
some new styling here in the bottom right also
I love all the new features!
Thank you all at HP for continually improving this site!
I see the new features but when I click on the Title Turner and then one of my hubs, I can no longer edit the hub
I just checked one of the hubs I changed the title for - thanks to the new Title Tuner (or whatever it's called) and had no problem editing. Edit mode worked just fine.
Love the new Title Tuner!
First the bad news. It doesn’t seem to work as to actually incorporating the updates. But that could be caused by my maxed out PC.
As to the good news: Loved every suggestion and manually edited each hub to include every one of them.
The photo option is very cool - a little buggy though.
SOme images that have only been uploaded once appear dozens of times
Same here (and I thought I took care of a bunch of them by clicking on the x that says it removes the image from the gallery - only to return later and find them all back again. I decided I'd adjust to the repeat images (and assume it hasn't helped that I often really play with photo capsules when I put Hubs together).
My photo is great idea, but I have the same problem. May need a can of raid to get rid of the bugs over the first little while.
Don't get me started on Title Tuner... I only have so much of my monthly 3gb left!
Awesome! Simply awesome! Can't wait to test drive the title tuner! WOW!!!!
Five stars to staff! You guys rock!
All cool tools and sure to further enhance the hubbing experience. Brilliant!
Can't decide which is best. All work well for me. Looking forward to the full release. Though please don't do a Google and give something in one hand, take back with the other
I can't help but feel that I have just taken big risks with the title tuner, but I am cautiously optimistic!
We can always change them back, right? I made real little changes.
Funny, I just "tuned" A LOT of my hub titles with the new tool which is pretty awesome, but after I was done I got the same feeling!
how exciting. I LOVE the My Photos section!!
I'm thrilled to see how many conveniences you make for us. the title tuner looks very helpful also, will play with it later.
thanks HP.
sunforged, that's a lot of duplicate purses you have there..
yes, I found a few duplicates also.
Alot of bags indeed.... But he did say that he travels around alot
These are great improvements Sir Paul... well done all.
Both very useful. Great updates. I've made use of them already.
Many thanks.
Just checked out the new updates and love them! Thanks Hubpages!
The picture deal confused meal. A little busy. We will see how it works out when uploading...
I am not sure if the changes in the answers area will prevent the one time question/activity sign ups. Are you guys working on fixing this? How about the crappy low quality questions that should be on Yahoo Answers?
So many times I have wanted to reuse a photo - that's perfect!
I tried out the Title Tuner. It had some strange suggestions, but it had some others that I took.
Good stuff.
Oh, and the change to Answers should eliminate some of the confusion though honestly I'd just flush the whole thing.
Love the title tuner - great idea, easy to use - I'm going to watch the traffic roll in!!!!
Great guys, have already used title tuner and as Pcunix says some suggestions are strange but I just ignore those.
Like the photo one too, will use it as well. Thanks for helping us to keep improving HP staffers.
Hmmmm -just used the Title app to change a title based on the suggestions - then promptly had the hub flagged for being deceptive
Sorry that struck me as funny, well... ironic.
I guess that I am lucky, most of the suggestions for my titles were both logical and workable (a little bit of license for a couple).
Now, I just cross my fingers that it doesn't screw everything up! Some of them were very strong to start with!
That brings up something I was wondering about-- If people are ALREADY finding the hub with those search terms, does it matter if we use them in the title?
That being said-- I did make several changes.
Is it just me who's seeing some very strange format errors?
Totally messed up in IE:
And in Chrome text boxes seem to have lost their margin:
My computer has been playing funny buggers recently, so it could just be the beast finally dying, but I've only noticed this in the last few hours.
Wow! I take a holiday and find candy, treats n new toys in HP thanks HP team!
I used the Title Tuner and it is awesome. Rather than going to the individual pages and making changes based on Keyword Suggestions this was so easy. Thanks You HubPages!
Title tuner is great - works easily and MUCH faster than visiting each hub. I like seeing the search percentages as well.
I already have all my photos organized by publishing platform and article, etc. in an external, dedicated (storage) hard-drive, so I do not find the photo feature as useful.
As well, I did find the duplications a bit disconcerting. (Reminds me of Picasa, which also doesn't discriminate well.)
One great feature of the revised photo capsule though, is the added capability to quickly access photos and reuse photos in the same hub - I frequently use the same graphics for certain capsules in the HubNuggets round-up hubs, and have often wished there were a faster way to quickly and easily reuse an image.
Thanks for all your hard work!
I have already started using the features. Thanks Paul! They are really awesome! Cheers!
I love My Photos and Title Tuner. I have used them both. I know I will make more money and save a lot of time trying to find just the right pictures!
My photo uploads do not work and are timing out. I also can't add any capsules to my articles. I'm not upset or complaining, I just wanted to let your know. Thanks for all your hard work.
Can you tell me what browser you are using? Or link me to a photo that you are trying to upload that does not work? If you can give me more details, I'll be happy to investigate. (Feel free to contact me via email through HubPages by going to my profile and clicking on "contact Fawntia.") Thanks!
Same problem timing out then it makes me sign back in even though I have it as saved. About to lose my bloody mind.
HP HQ continues to develop and release quality tools that benefit the community. Well done!
I like http://hubpages.com/my/photos and it would be handy if the hub/s the image has been used in could be part of the information listed under each photo.
Love the title tuner! Thanks HP for continuing to improve an already fantastic site!
I accidentally discovered the new features about two hours ago. (At first I thought there was some big thing about pictures that I've been missing for "ages" . Glad to know I haven't just been oblivious to something that's been around for awhile. Like them both (although, for now, a little overwhelmed by the picture thing 'til I get to know it better).
Title tuner suggested 5 of my hubs to add a word or 2 which definitely were relative to my hub and I used them. Thanks!!!!!!!! For creating a useful tool A+++++
My photos I deleted some but only 2 deleted so maybe I did it to fast but I surely want to delete some that take up extra space on the server if this helps at all. A+++++
Wow and I just noticed the add photo image tab to this reply sweet!!!
Have just had a look at the new features and really like the title turner. It has suggested four of my hubs of which I have been able to tweak three. Watch and wait now to see what happens.
Both of the new features are great, thanks hubpages.
The photo update doesn't do much for me - my subjects vary widely with every hub.
However, I LOVE the new title tuner. So much easier than visiting each hub. Thanks!
IS it, or will it be possible to set a preference for how the photo capsule opens? Right now the tab is set to open in the new "myPhotos" area, and I would like to change the default to the "upload" tab. Will this be possible at some point?
I, too, had a problem with some of the photos staying, when I loaded them from the MyPhotos. Once I uploaded them from my computer, they held beautifully. I used Firefox, by the way, and find the new interface loads photos much faster than the old photo capsule interface - at least so far
As well, will we be able to re-order the photos by clicking and dragging them to a new position within the capsule, as we could do with the old interface? That was much handier than deleting and reloading photos.
It is not currently possible to choose a different default tab in the photo capsule. We'll think about doing that, or maybe switching to the upload tab by default if that's what most people prefer.
I am not sure what you mean by your photos not "staying" when you loaded them from My Photos. Are you saying that after adding a photo from My Photos and saving the capsule, the photo did not save correctly? Please report the problem with more details in the Report a Problem forum.
You can still reorder your photos by dragging and dropping, just as you did before.
These seem like really nice updates - thanks! Like the look of the my photos section and if title tuner helps me get more traffic - great!
Love the New Photo interface! Simply Awesome ..saves me alot of time!and love the new easy attribution for photos.
Congratulations Team Hubpages on a fantastic site which seems to get better and better with each day! Keep up the awesome work!
I love the title tuner. I've just been looking at it and it came up with some pretty good ideas. I just don't have the time to analyse all my hubs in enough depth to notice some of this stuff - like one of the suggestions I got just involved changing a 'from' to a 'with', or others were just adding in one or two words that I didn't think of to start with.
Big thumbs up from me.
I got a "my" to a "your" suggestion. Works for me.
Well done HP staff. Thank-you for always trying to make things better for us.
Here's a dilemma that the Title Tuner is giving me. On a couple of occasions the tuner has suggested some mispelled words, that are far more popular than the correctly spelled words!
Should I amend the title with the mispelled word?! As I writer I don't want to compromise my writing for traffic, but if the mispelled word gets a lot more traffic.....what to do???!!!
Yeah, new toys to play with, will go and check them out. Thank you Hubteam.
Love the new photos feature. I know it's a bit cheeky, but I can already see ways it could be made even better:
1. Let us name our own albums
2. There's an option to use the photo in a new Hub - how about the option to use it in an existing Hub?
1. You can type any name you want in the album field, and a new album by that name will be created. The automatically generated albums are just there to give you a head start in organizing your photos, should you desire to.
2. To use a photo in an existing Hub, you can go to the Hub and open a photo capsule to see and select from the photos in My Photos.
I hope that this is helpful.
Great new options! Love the constant updates and new features you guys allow us here! Thanks!
