Today we pushed out the next step of removing adult content from HubPages.  If you had hubs marked as adult, they are now unpublished in your account.

We also introduced several improvements to our moderation tools.  Please flag adult content and it will get reviewed very quickly.  There is a flag link next to the thumbs up and down buttons on hubs.  Thank you!

I am sorry to have to say that, but you people really suck and don't know to much about what you are doing. Hubpages wouldn't be what it is now without porn. You can be very sure, that you will loose many many webmasters and many inbound links, and also many visitors. Did you ever think about, that the people that find hubpages via porn might also be looking at other sections of hubpages? I guess not!
I can only recommend everybody to better go to places like squidoo. Obviously here everything is only material based. If the owners don't give a f..., why should the webmasters do??

So are you saying that HubPages is now doomed to failure? Will it still be around a year from now?

Have you thought about the fact that they'd have statistical data about how many people in fact do click thru to the non-porn pages?

I'm guessing 10%. But I'm probably being generous.

    Paul,

A while ago I noticed that all of my non-porn/non-mature-content hubs were flagged as 'mature content', and I assumed it was because my profile contained porn hubs.

But now that there's no more porn, why are my non-porn/non-mature-content hubs still flagged as 'mature content'?

If you published too many hubs without properly marking them, then all your hubs were marked as adult.  You can now republish them.  Make sure they are suitable for all viewers.

Porn isn't everything, In fact it's all full of hidden viruses and spyware on other websites and hub pages did well to be cut off from all that now rather than later on, when multi networks had built up to all sorts of filth...

Believe me I like alot of filth but only from my mrs!! and not from hub pages or sites that I'm practising writing and marketing...nice pun laden name that mr krabs!!

yeap yeap there is no viruses/spyware/adware in mainstream at all. Zango in a mainstream company that has its toolbar installed on over 30 million computers. Folks can buy traffic from this company and popup ads right over
hub page users at any time based on urls or keywords.  There our 20 company's i can name doing the same thing.

    Hello HubScribers!

This morning, we announced the HubPages Apprenticeship Program on our blog, which means that you are no longer obligated to be silent about your participation.

You are therefore free to talk publicly about the Apprenticeship Program and your enrollment, though for the first couple of weeks of the program, we will not add a badge to your profile making your Apprenticeship status public. This means that if you like, you can continue to keep your Apprenticeship involvement under wraps for a while longer.

Sure I like porn! Who doesn't like porn besides my grandma. For me, porn also brings me a lot of money, so that's cool.
PLEASE don't tell spongebob man!!!!!!! That would bring me in deep trouble!

Well, just call me "grandma", because I personally don't like porn, and am IMMENSELY glad that Hubpages doesn't allow it.

Porn shouldnt be a part of such websites. People have a lot of other places to go for porn. Id be in the favour of getiing porn removed off here.

This is such awsome news, guys! I am so glad that HP is cleaning up and throwing out! I know that this site can survive very well without porn. There are too many sites out there that do and there are plenty of sites that cater to the porn so it isn't like they have nowhere for this type of material. Great job, HP!

You guys are right I didn't notice the time-line on Paul's posting. I was sitting in the backseat of the Van with the laptop, talking to my friends while checking out hubpages comments etc. The half of my brain that was reading the comments is the absentminded half. Full brained I would have caught on right away. That's my story and I'm sticking to it...Zsuzsy

There was porn on Hubpages? Lol I thought there was just almost nude girl photo galleys on Hubpages. Well I never searched it on Hubpages so I wouldn't know. I think porn should get rid of for the sole reason that it made people give up. Getting a girlfriend and everything is hard, so we resort to porn instead, its a bad institution. Also, a lot of "intelligent" guys still have it when they have girlfriends and wifes, just an fyi it doesn't go over well.

I think Hubpages should never have had porn in the first place. But its good it removed it.

Just so I get it right, are the rough porn images still allowed to not get flagged? Like the mini-bikinis and such.

I agree, this will make HubPages stronger and better. What good could "bad neighborhood" links and traffic possibly do HP? Why would we want to even try to compete in the porn industry? We have no need to be all things to all people.

Well done, Paul & HubPages Team.

Doesn't anyone read threads before posting them?

Please note - porn was banned from HubPages ALMOST ONE YEAR AGO!

This thread relates to that event.  Nothing is changing right now.

Thanks Charlotte I could use a great hug and smootch from Sierra and a large double double dark roast coffee.
In my defense I just continued on the thread that had been revived. I read Pauls annoucement of banning porn on a different thread long ago and didn't recognize it as old. With the hubbbabbb of recent adult contented hubs I thought it was a new policy to go with that.
    Alright so I goofed.
    HOWEVER THESE WORDS STILL APPLY
Congratulations Paul and Hubpages team! I'm pretty sure this choice was not an easy one. Thank you! I'm of the opinion that this will just make Hubpages stronger and better.

I am still waiting for the anti-hot Indian chicks in their underwear brigade to jump in and say,

"Thank god an admin has decided to rid hubpages of this disgusting, child-upsetting pornography. At last, I can let my 12-year-old use hubpages"

OK, yes, I saw the date and the disclaimers before my last post, but felt that 11 months later was a good time to renew the thread.

On the traditional logic, I still stand. Personally, I have no use for porn, other than to make the point that G's been blowing chunks out both ends about it. Not saying it's their fault, just a timeless quirk about human nature for some to want to look good while acting bad. Hence the hypocrisacies and misunderstandings. (that make any sense?)

Remember that before TV, radio had to use voice and sound effects to get people excited enough to act. Newspapers only had the printed word and low-res graphics.

A broad (pun intended) search for porn returns 237,000,000 results. Everything on page 1 is cached and offers related pages. I'm sure they'll sell me AdWords clicks if I were to check.

Do I misunderstand G's definition of "Bad Neighborhood"? Should we consider yet another click box for adult content?
