    Hey Hubbers,

This has not been done for a while, so I am doing all over again.

If you're a newbie, meaning you've been here under 6 months, then post a HI or Hello and get yourself noticed. Don't post any links.

If you're a veteran, then please stop in and post, and greet and meet some new members. wink

Welcome to Hubpages! smile I hope you enjoy your time here! smile big_smile

Well done to you for this Cagsil, you should get a mention on the late news rather than a ban for a week-what are Hp staff up to. They have totallly lost the plot. My understanding is they just banned you and haven't had the courtesy to tell you why. What the hell is up with hp's right now.

I'm nine months old (long enough to be born hehe), but took several of those off. Am just getting on a roll this past month. Learning as much as I can and feeling like I know so very little. It's getting better though. My favorite quote to apply to this writing process: "Success is the ability to go from one failure to another with no loss of enthusiasm." - Sir Winston Churchill

I am a newbie in spirit. I joined Hubpages a little over a year ago but a few months in my mother died. I stopped writing to do the things I needed to do. I am back now and renewing the joy of writing and trying to learn as much as I can about hubpages

Of course, and also I have no idea what "Panda" is but apparently it wasn't good. Any explanation as to what happened?

    1. Cagsil profile image70
Cagsilposted 13 years agoin reply to this

Google changed it's algorithm. It determines how sites rank on it's search engine. Those changes, included a SLAP for all the sites with which were labeled as "content farms".

Hubpages was labeled as one. It destroyed HP's overall ranking.

Hi, New Hub-People.   smile  I'm a chronologically a "veteran", but I tend to think of myself as a "newbie-at-heart" (particularly now that Panda has sent a lot of us back to Square 1  lol) - but new folks don't need to worry about the past at this point.  It's probably a great time to be new.   smile  Anyway, enjoy Hubbing.  It's a nice community.

Welcome. I looked at your profile page, and everything seems almost perfect. But I thought it would be helpful if you made it clear that you intend to write and offer some advice about things that you know about through education and from firsthand experience, personal interest etc.. This may seem obvious to you, but it wasn't obvious to me.

Welcome to all newbies.  Since Cagsil has apparently been banned, again, I'll try to help him out with this thread.  I could be gone anytime too, so don't be surprised.  Free speech is pretty much frowned upon here.

The truth is, no one other than HP staff really knows what is going on now, and they aren't talking to us much.  If you've written on content sites before, you probably already know you are nothing but a number here.

Yes, they have your name on file, but that isn't very important in the scheme of things.  The bottom line is if you can make HP money with your writing and don't ask questions they don't want to answer, you'll do fine.

The best advice I can give you is to believe nothing which you cannot verify for yourself on HP or any other writing site.

Surprisingly often, people making statements have an agenda. It can take a lot of studies into their activities across the site to find out where they are "coming from." Without knowing this, it is easy to misunderstand what is being said. Someone may seem to be offering friendly advice, when in fact they have something personal at stake. In this regard, I see some wisdom in Randy Godwin's words.

So far, I've found the best niches for attracting zero traffic and clicks, which I chalk up to not following my theory on the direct proportion of earnings to triggering HubPages violations.

We all have to start somewhere, Mskills!  Welcome and don't panic!  It takes the average hubber about 8 months to reach Adsense payout.  Patience is a virtue, especially here on HP! smile

Thank you, sir.  I'm afraid, though, that if my AdSense continues down the path it started a month ago, I will be exactly zero dollars closer to payout by the end of 8 months.

I stay because although I am not earning a fortune since Panda, I am still earning more than I was last September, so Panda has set me back 9 months or so.

I have invested a lot of time and a lot of effort here, and I still believe HP staff can pull us out of this mess.

I still publish occasionally, but no longer have all my eggs in the one basket. I now have my own blogs and websites, as well as work spread around other writing sites.

Out of all of those, HP is still my major earner.

HP is a brilliant place to learn about online writing, and who knows, one day it may return to its former glory smile

Thanks Brian, and I'd also add to newbies that it is quite normal for new hubs to take 6 months + to start earning, so anything you write now could be earning quite nicely in time for Christmas. How much better it will be if HP is back to its former glory by then too!

I am a new newbie, i.e. I have been on hubpages before, but get bored and come back again as I used to enjoy the forums a lot.  Previously, my experience has been great, although since joining again two days ago, I have been called a liar by several members on the forums, and this has upset me greatly.  Especially so, because what I have written has been the truth.  The upset prevented me from getting any sleep at all last night, and I am already wishing I hadn't come back to HubPages.  Debate is great on the forums, but when it degenerates into personal attacks on people for whatever reason, then there is little sense of welcome.  And people have no idea what health problems people have or what conditions they suffer from, and some people may be especially sensitive to being attacked.  Having said that, most hubbers on here are a friendly lot.

Religion and politics--that doesn't surprise me! People tend to have quite the opinion on those things, so you're probably right, that would be a good place to avoid! :]

And good to hear, I know a lot of sites have moderation but a lot of times things just don't get taken care. Good to hear that's not the case here! :]

I guess I am still considered new here, sure don't feel that way though. I guess anyone one who spends as much time online as I do feels old everywhere.

Welcome to all the newer publishers and hi to all the older ones.
My advice to the newer writers, look over the hubs of the ones who have been here a long time and are making money. They are good examples of how to earn from hub pages.

    My top recommendations are
    Patti Inglish MS
    Pearldiver
    habee
    Rebecca E
    and
    Lisa HW
For those who didn't make my top 5
sorry those who did helped me
    personally

Thanks Cagsil for finding a way to make new people feel welcome. I don't class myself as a newbie but do fit the profile you asked for. I am still at the five month mark. It sure seems like a lifetime ago to me though.

I have already written three hubs meant to help hubbers with even less experience than me. More the pity most of my best work is too short for hub pages or now on my corporate website. In the end I guess I am like many of the old-timers who have to earn a living, my work has to go where the best chance of profit is.

My sense of being part of a community is what keeps bringing me back to hub pages. That and the fact that giving up on the group of people who have taught me more than anyone in my life is just not my style, helped with that decision.

Self confidence is the greatest gift given by the people who write here. When I look back at the what I now call trash that I was writing before the people here took the time to help me I wonder how they put up with me.

Newbie's this is the best group of people I have ever found.
Welcome and hope to see you around.
