Well done to you for this Cagsil, you should get a mention on the late news rather than a ban for a week-what are Hp staff up to. They have totallly lost the plot. My understanding is they just banned you and haven't had the courtesy to tell you why. What the hell is up with hp's right now.
I'm nine months old (long enough to be born hehe), but took several of those off. Am just getting on a roll this past month. Learning as much as I can and feeling like I know so very little. It's getting better though. My favorite quote to apply to this writing process: "Success is the ability to go from one failure to another with no loss of enthusiasm." - Sir Winston Churchill
I am a newbie in spirit. I joined Hubpages a little over a year ago but a few months in my mother died. I stopped writing to do the things I needed to do. I am back now and renewing the joy of writing and trying to learn as much as I can about hubpages
Sorry to hear about your mother and please accept my condolences. But, I am glad to hear you've begun writing again, because it can be an awesome releasing mechanism/outlet for you. I do hope you enjoy your time here.
I'm an extreme newbie! But I will say I've been very impressed how this site as really opened it's arms for me. Very welcoming members, and I really appreciate the kindness shown to me. I plan on using this for a long time as far as it remains this awesome. Thanks guys and girls!
Hi, New Hub-People. I'm a chronologically a "veteran", but I tend to think of myself as a "newbie-at-heart" (particularly now that Panda has sent a lot of us back to Square 1 ) - but new folks don't need to worry about the past at this point. It's probably a great time to be new. Anyway, enjoy Hubbing. It's a nice community.
Hiya, Greg! Welcome. I'm still fairly new myself, so can't tell you much about Panda (except that HP folk don't like him much) or much else related to money making. I can say it's been a great community and a fun place to write though. Enjoy, and if it's cash you're after, good luck!
Hello all. My name is Chris, and I joined a day or two ago. So far I've really enjoyed the diversity in this community and look forward to reading and chatting with you all. If anyone has any good advise for a new hubber, please share.
Hello and welcome. If you are interested in critique of your hubs, you can post to the Extreme Hub Makeover forum, where links for that purpose are permitted. (By the way, I suggest you double-check the title of your latest hub, I found a small issue with that).
Welcome. I looked at your profile page, and everything seems almost perfect. But I thought it would be helpful if you made it clear that you intend to write and offer some advice about things that you know about through education and from firsthand experience, personal interest etc.. This may seem obvious to you, but it wasn't obvious to me.
Welcome to all newbies. Since Cagsil has apparently been banned, again, I'll try to help him out with this thread. I could be gone anytime too, so don't be surprised. Free speech is pretty much frowned upon here.
The truth is, no one other than HP staff really knows what is going on now, and they aren't talking to us much. If you've written on content sites before, you probably already know you are nothing but a number here.
Yes, they have your name on file, but that isn't very important in the scheme of things. The bottom line is if you can make HP money with your writing and don't ask questions they don't want to answer, you'll do fine.
The best advice I can give you is to believe nothing which you cannot verify for yourself on HP or any other writing site.
Surprisingly often, people making statements have an agenda. It can take a lot of studies into their activities across the site to find out where they are "coming from." Without knowing this, it is easy to misunderstand what is being said. Someone may seem to be offering friendly advice, when in fact they have something personal at stake. In this regard, I see some wisdom in Randy Godwin's words.
Bobbyben, traffic is good initially but drops as people's curiosity lessens.. It takes time for traffic to pick up.. Keyword research and SEO is the key to get Google traffic and even then patience is a must In the meanwhile write good content and in terms of quality and quantity and the rest will follow Have a lovely time here.
When you first publish a hub it will get some traffic from HubPages writers as they check out the new hubs. After the initial surge in traffic it will take a while for your hubs to get indexed and start getting search engine traffic.
Hi,I'm a newbie. Thanks for the acknowledgement. I've felt very welcomed from day one so I think I'll stick around.Any advice will be greatly appreciated because I'm not great at writing I just enjoy doing so.
Thanks Cagsil for having the idea of initiation such a refreshing hub, it's good to see hubbers like you using the site positively. To all newbies, welcome to probably one of the best sites out there. Good luck and hopes that you enjoy your time here. You will find many excellent writers such as the initiator of this forum, listen and heed their words of wisdom, write about what you are passionate about, write often and with quality. Sooner or later you will see your efforts rewarded in one way or another.
I decide Welcome to HP.. why would you think writing about music has its down side.. you have some great hubs on music an d vocal training on these pages .. Make it interesting and people will lap up your writings Enjoy writing Have fun:)
I have read your profile at least 5 times. It is short, fine, but the things there point in such different directions. Since this is a writing site, you could expand the part about creative writing, so your writing aspirations would stand out compared with the other credentials.
Thanks Brian, and I'd also add to newbies that it is quite normal for new hubs to take 6 months + to start earning, so anything you write now could be earning quite nicely in time for Christmas. How much better it will be if HP is back to its former glory by then too!
Hi Izzy M I’m a newbie (here 3 weeks). I got really excited when I saw I’d earned 4 cents a couple of weeks ago, as I’m completely new to earning on-line, but I had no idea what to expect as far as how long it would take to earn anything other than a few cents, so what you’ve written here is really useful to read. Thank you.
I am a new newbie, i.e. I have been on hubpages before, but get bored and come back again as I used to enjoy the forums a lot. Previously, my experience has been great, although since joining again two days ago, I have been called a liar by several members on the forums, and this has upset me greatly. Especially so, because what I have written has been the truth. The upset prevented me from getting any sleep at all last night, and I am already wishing I hadn't come back to HubPages. Debate is great on the forums, but when it degenerates into personal attacks on people for whatever reason, then there is little sense of welcome. And people have no idea what health problems people have or what conditions they suffer from, and some people may be especially sensitive to being attacked. Having said that, most hubbers on here are a friendly lot.
Thanks Izzy! I'll try to pop in here whenever I'm on hubpages. These forums seem to be much nicer than the other websites I've written at. :] I know a few sites where if you say you're a newbie; everyone is all over you with rude comments.. So I'm glad to see the opposite here! :]
Stay out of the political/religious threads - that is where most forum trouble stems from. I think it makes a difference that these forums are moderated and personal attacks are not permitted (although they still happen occasionally).
I guess I am still considered new here, sure don't feel that way though. I guess anyone one who spends as much time online as I do feels old everywhere.
Welcome to all the newer publishers and hi to all the older ones. My advice to the newer writers, look over the hubs of the ones who have been here a long time and are making money. They are good examples of how to earn from hub pages.
My top recommendations are Patti Inglish MS Pearldiver habee Rebecca E and Lisa HW For those who didn't make my top 5 sorry those who did helped me personally
Thanks Cagsil for finding a way to make new people feel welcome. I don't class myself as a newbie but do fit the profile you asked for. I am still at the five month mark. It sure seems like a lifetime ago to me though.
I have already written three hubs meant to help hubbers with even less experience than me. More the pity most of my best work is too short for hub pages or now on my corporate website. In the end I guess I am like many of the old-timers who have to earn a living, my work has to go where the best chance of profit is.
My sense of being part of a community is what keeps bringing me back to hub pages. That and the fact that giving up on the group of people who have taught me more than anyone in my life is just not my style, helped with that decision.
Self confidence is the greatest gift given by the people who write here. When I look back at the what I now call trash that I was writing before the people here took the time to help me I wonder how they put up with me.
Newbie's this is the best group of people I have ever found. Welcome and hope to see you around.
