Has anyone else been receiving emails from a female hubber telling you that you are cute and how they want a relationship with you?

Said hubber has strangely enough not written any hubs!

Also how can you tell from my avatar what I look like and does she (if in fact it is a she?) realise that I am also female?

Strange way to either solicit for a sexual relationship or spam. Some strange folks in the world and the profile and email is so flagged!

it's either spam or someone out to get money. i'd just report them to hubpages and then forget about them.

The new online scam is sending people money as cyber criminals attempt to "wash" money.  Once it hits your account they ask for it back with any number of excuses.

I've received 3-4 of these per week from men and women for over 10 years (before HubPages and today) and it's an ID Theft and a money-seeking scam .

Or maybe they want to get an email relationship going and then start asking for money. A variation of the 'I need to get my late father's $27 million out of the Ivory Coast' type of thing.

Well, it wasn't me - my mommy says I'm too young to date yet.

They are either wanting a valid email address or running a scam of some kind.  Report it to HP and forget it unless they start sending diamond rings.

I find it weird that people sign up for an account and have not written anything in months. This is a writers site, A SITE FOR WRITERS.

I think some of these people are lonely and need attention.

  6. recommend1 profile image60

I would avoid replying to any unsolicited mails - they are just after your email address.  I was dim enough to reply to an unsolicited mail from an HP member and now get around 8 spam emails a day from the same source.  I will get around to tracking it down at some point.

"Alas" roll, nobody has ever sent me any date offers through here. All the e.mail scammers I get seem to be overtly out to get my "masses" of money with which to help their prime ministers, foreign diplomats, and severely injured uncles.  Oh - or that poor girl who's trapped in China and needs to get to the US urgently.

Are you saying this is a scam?  I have just mailed fifty five pounds to Dr. Susan Nboku who needed the train fare to get to my place.  Apparently she found my profile very sexy and is, I quote "in need of make babies".

    1. Lisa HW profile image63
Lisa HWposted 13 years agoin reply to this

Whoa.  "In need of make babies" takes dating AND money-scamming to a-whole-nother level, doesn't it....    (Although...   maybe the person hopes to make some cute little, stick-figure, cartoon-babies who don't eat, don't cry, and won't be needing college tuition in 18 years.)  You never know.  It's kind of sad that so many people are so quick to paint everyone else with such a broad brush, isn't it....    roll  (and just in case anyone takes what I just said seriously:   lol )

What I have noticed is that I have been receiving at least 5 emails per day asking for a reply. The messages go on to say that my profile is very interesting and they find my photo very attractive. I don't reply since when I track the emails, they are usually from overseas, with the exception of one from right around the corner. cool

    1. profile image0
klarawieckposted 13 years agoin reply to this

Right from around the corner? Would that be me, Luis? lol

I've only exchanged emails with a couple of hubbers and I've befriended a few of them via facebook, whether its been my initiative or theirs. But then again... since my real name is not Klara, and that facebook account is only for hubpages, I don't feel harassed in any way. And I think I speak on behalf of the small HP community that communicates via facebook when I say that we interact little, always friendly/respectful chat, reading each other's hubs, and I've never meant any harm to anyone when I've requested to add them to my friends.

If anything, I've always made it a point to let the person know that I've requested their friendship and that there is no pressure. If they want to keep their privacy, that's fine. I never get upset at something like that. I understand.

A few times I've exchanged emails with hubbers, only whenever I feel that whatever I have to tell them doesn't need to be made public, but always in relation to whatever subject they've written about in forums.  But as in the case of Luis or CMHypno, I've never sent or received emails telling people how hot they are and how much I want to be with them. smile In cyber-HP-language, that would take me at least 13 months. And I've only been here for 12. wink Next month... well... THAT will be a different story!!! wink
