Just want to say hello and introduce myself. I'm new and just published my first hub. I think I will recognize some of the writers here from Squidoo and Bubblews.
I would love to write more, but I have a cat on my lap who is demanding attention and I need to get out to do some Christmas shopping for my kids. However, first I need to check out some hubs from other writers. I look forward to being part of this community.
Welcome! Hope you like it here. Please avoid the current cat thread on this forum... it's for your own good.
Welcome, WriterJanis! It's a pleasure to meet you!
Pleased to meet you. Janis
Hope you have a good experience here and we gain from your presence too.
Hi there. Best of luck, and mind the gnomes. They're watching.
Welcome! I am fairly new, also. I am sure your experience here will be a great one.
Welcome! Just a word of warning - "being part of the community" on HubPages is NOT part of the money-making formula here. (unlike Squidoo and Bubblews).
You don't need to curry favour with other writers to get votes (they do exist but barely count), and views from other Hubbers contribute very little to your income. Some of the most successful writers here are almost unknown to the community because they follow hardly anyone, don't comment on other people's Hubs and rarely post on the forums.
If you think of HubPages as a magazine and us as staff writers, spending time with the community is like goofing off with your colleagues around the water cooler. It's a great way to stay motivated and support each other, but your customers are not within the community. If you put your focus on the community and ignore your customers, your Hubs won't earn.
"You don't need to curry favour with other writers to get votes"
GFT, and it's a beautiful thing.
Whoops, that's 'qft' (quoted for truth).
Welcome to HubPages, Writer Janis. It is good to see you here in this great community.
Thank you Beth for the welcome. Oh no, now you have me curious about the cat thread!
Welcome to HubPages! I'm still here because the community is so nice and helpful.
Welcome! We look forward to having you as part of our community. If you need help do not be afraid to ask, someone will be glad to answer.
I hope that your cat does not interfere too much with your writing.
Good luck with your shopping Santa!
Good to see you. Hope you like it here at Hubpages. Sounds like you are a prolific writer. I saw your comment above. I could not imagine writing 500 articles.
Welcome to HubPages, WriterJanis! Congrats on your first hub, have fun learning the hubtool and writing more. It's a fun place to write and the community is awesome. Enjoy your stay!
(Love the spelling of your name, by the way. )
Welcome to the community! May your Hubs forever be fruitful
Good luck with your articles.you are welcome.I will see you around. I am looking foward for your hubs.
Welcome to this wonderful HP community! Wish you all the best!
Hi, nice to meet you, I'm also from Squidoo, have been on Hubpages only a short while, managed to write a few hubs
Nice to see a fellow Squidoo writer here.
Welcome Janis, nice to meet you. I hope you'll find some friends and build quality hubs.
Just saying Hi, this too is my first time on here. Haven't posted anything just yet. (still in the editing process) but what I do post I hope you all will enjoy.
All the best, Janis. With your skills of online writing, I am sure you will make a mark on HubPages also.
Welcome, you chose the right place! Not much of a fan of Squidoo and Bubblews myself.
Welcome! I understand about the kitty -on- the lap thing. Isn't it wonderful!? I recently adopted a 6month old kitten. Midnight gets along with my older cat. ( whew!) But sometimes Midnight just wants to cuddle with me....with his little head right under my chin. ( Honestly, I think he was taken away from his mommy too soon...perhaps he was orphaned?)
Oh my! I'm just jabbering away here...Welcome to Hubpages!
Hey there, J!
You know what you can do here that you can't there?
Write a decent article that gets steady if not huge traffic.
Leave it alone. Quite possibly forever, if it's an evergreen topic.
Wander off and do something else entirely.
EARN MONEY *gasp*.
Remember that whole "passive income" idea we started with all those years ago? That idea that each article wouldn't earn much at first, but if it was good content, over time, the residuals would add up to a reasonable ROI on time/effort spent on each page? It still works here without your wasting all your time on maintenance, updates and hoop-jumping to keep rank from slipping. So you won't go crazy maintaining all your old articles at the expense of writing anything new. I hit my limit somewhere around the 400 mark, and these days mostly leave content to sink or swim as it will.
I'm not putting all my eggs in the HP basket, of course, but it's working as well as anything these days.
I agree with that.
The mistake most people make is to think that if they're not following, commenting, or forum posting, their Hubs will be forgotten. Nothing could be further from the truth.
The fact is that being active in the HubPages community has very little to do with whether or not you earn income.
Welcome to HubPages Janis! I'm sure you'll have a great writing experience here.
Hi Janis, and welcome to Hubpages, I'm fairly new here myself but good to see new people also joining daily. There are many Hubs here on just about every subject you can think of. Enjoy your time here.
Hello Janis and Lapcat,
Welcome to HP. I recommend a good read of hubs and rules and other important stuff, many evergreen hubs, long term involvement and meaningful comments!
lots to learn here! I signed up a while back and haven't been on for a long time and now so much has changed ey - with more stricter rules. Looked at Bubblews today! Great opportunities out here in this virtual world. Enjoy!
Welcome to HubPages. All the best. Looking forward to read your hubs.
Thank you all for your welcomes, tips and advice. I'm loving it here.

Hi Hubbers,I hope I'm posting my introduction in the correct place; if not, someone point me in the right direction? So far, I'm psyched over this site. Though there are tons of warnings "out there" for "serious" writers to stay away from these types of sites, I have a...

Joined a few days ago, still reading through the learning centre, hubs about how to hub, what to hub, when to hub. My mum said I better. Now I'm saying hello. Ma said I better do that too. And no, I'm not a mummy's boy. I just like that she feeds me when I turn up randomly at her house. Better I...

Hey,So I don't know how friendly the Hub community is but I'm introducing myself anyway. You can call me AMG since thats what I normally go by on the web. I'm a pretty big gamer but there's more to me than that! So feel free to say hello because I'd love to meet some people on here-considering I...

I just joined this website today. My question is regarding the quality of the things I have posted, seeing as one thing I wrote seems to have been taken away... I am open to suggestions so I can get better at what I do, especially seeing as writing is something I would like to someday do full time....
