Safe driving is VERY important, especially every year when we release thousands of new drivers onto the roads (a.k.a. teenagers). Now, as my young daughter is nearing the permit-driving-age, I'm even more sensitive and aware of the rules of the road and making sure she understands offensive and defensive driving. Whew! A lot to be worried about, for sure! But, this is an excellent topic and a fantastic hub for me to write as my first one to get my feet wet!

I'm not a driver-but as a pedestrian I see plenty of horrible drivers where I live. They don't obey laws, they are in a hurry to get where they are going, and they have no courtesy. And yet I live in a hospital zone. Of course, there are a lot of pedestrians in my area as a result and woe to them who are trying to get to work or visit relatives. I've published quite a few hubs about Fraser valley drivers already.

Do you think there should be an upper age limit for drivers? Is allowing senior citizens to continue driving beyond a certain age safe? Should refresher driving courses for the elderly be compulsory? This might be controversial, but surely we all recognise that most older people's driving does deteriorate and something has to be done for safety's sake. read more
