   I'm waiting to uncover the magic formula. I thought maybe publishing copiously would do it. But I don't think that's true because there was one day this month I hit a score of 100. I could not believe it. I logged off and logged back on just to make sure it was not some sort of fluke. The only correlation--if you can call it that--was I did see the most money (cents) come in the day before/day of. And then I was back to a score of 97...not 99 or 98, like a gradual decline. And it was back to bouncing around in the 90s.

      I've been bouncing around between 91 to 96 a lot for the past few days. And it's usually pretty big jumps too.

   Beats me! I once wrote a hub on this very subject, which said basically 'I didn't have a clue - just enjoy it while it lasts'! 
   
   Scores are supposedly determined by a number of factors programmed into something called the "algorithm".  But it's my personal theory elves in a hollow tree behind HP simply draw names from a fish bowl every morning and give each a score of 100 for the day. ;D

   If you want your author score to be 100, it just takes a lot of activity on Hubpages. Read the forums and comment, write excellent hubs, comment on other hubs, use the hub hopper and vote hubs up and down and anything else I haven't thought of. Write lots of good hubs.
   
   I've had my author score at 100 several times and this seems to be the way to do it. It constantly changes and having it 100 doesn't help you in any way.

      That's my impression too, Barbara Kay. I think you needs a mix of good hubs and a lot of activity on the site answering questions, commenting on hubs and forums, and let's not forget hub hopping, with related voting up/down and commenting.

   Your hubs must be the best in every way shape and form you can think of, that means high quality content, the best usage of keywords, grammar should be on point, visual quality with images and videos should be relevant as ever, like products, refined topics grouping, writing great summaries, usage of relevant capsules, originality of video making, and there's loads more.
   
   This all equates to good SEO, and you should think about positioning your content to appeal to your readers as well, to get the best chances of high traffic to a single or multiple hubs.
   
   Like your hubtivity for instance, which is a users overall hubpages activity, leaving comments, posting forum messages, asking and answering Q&A questions, your sharing factors using share buttons to help other hubbers also counts, and even the social factors count like how long people are actually remaining on your hubs, and how much they're sharing your hubs elsewhere on social networks etc....
   
   Its a huge algorithm that makes all the calculations, and walla the good ole hubpages score is crunched out. There's also individual hub scores that factor into the equation of your overall hubber score.
   
   Time is the key though, for those hubbers who truly seek to take a commanding lead in the hubpages community here, & surely when it comes to scoring high hubber scores. Those with the highest hubber scores are actually all competing statistically with one another, and the competition is feverish.
   
   I have yet to hit 100 but I did hit 98 many times though, and it felt good, lol. Hub traffic weighs heavy on the up and down swings of a users score, as well as if you do wrong things here like aimlessly following people, without being sincere just to boost the number of followers, and yup the system detects everything we do here, so there's no gaming the hubpages system.

    I have yet to succeed to that level. I do know that over the months it has been very hard for me to stay around 89 to 91. When I first started I averaged 95 to 96, lol.  Not sure what type of magical formula is used for the 100. I publish, comment, stay fairly active in the forum from time to time, have decent views and revenue coming in...but I have not found that "one" thing I am not apparently doing right!

    The cynical answer is - Steal other peoples work and present it as your own.  I know at least one hubber here who has been outed for doing that yet still has a score of 100.  It's mostly about the traffic.

    I've hit this a few time and also had a few hubs hit 100, usually at night here where I'm at in Texas.  I think that score must be comparative, so I think 100 just means you are winning for that moment among all the similar hubs or hubbers?

    I have never hit the 100 mark. Someone mention adding videos. I am not interested in doing that. I came to HP to write. I use illustrations, pictures and graphs when needed and available, but my main objective is to write. I write hubs, questions and answers. I do not do the forums any longer. The format does not lend itself to any meaningful discussion.
    
    I have about 90 followers--they all asked to follow me. I have followed some in return.
    
    I do not think the Hub score affects income, which is nothing to get excited about. If there are some hints that the Hub people want to tell us, but we do not need to speculate. We need to be told the rules.

       I now have about 170 followers and my Hub score is usually in the 90s. I try to make the content interesting and am working on the grammar and typos. However, my score is in the 90s and has been as high as 98. I am not going to sweat it.

    I notice from your profile that you joined HubPages 10 days ago.  I reach 100 every so often now...but it took me more than 3 years to get there the first time.  Don't remember exactly how many Hubs I'd published at that point, but am at a bit more than 1,200 now, so most likely it was around 800 to 900.
    
    Never ever ever did I make a concerted effort to reach 100 for the sake of reaching 100, though.  That's like a politician running for office for the sake of getting elected. 
    
    I do Hub Hop when I can find the time, don't generally participate much in the forums (did for a while, but not for the past year or more), and DO make every attempt to help out any Hubber who asks for help, as well as flagging those who need flagging.
    
    Bottom line (summarizing what I've said here and others have said already),  it comes down to patience and persistence, coupled hopefully with good attitude.

    Why don't you try and test it out for yourself. Create a great hub with great content that is interesting and appeals to a wide audience. 
    Follow  CloudExplorer advice, it covers practically everything. You will soon see your score rise.
    A great deal too depends on the amount of content (words) in your hub. Very few poets reach 100 score simply because of the lack of content and keywords in their hubs.
    I do know that one of the worst things you can do is to just follow someone for the sake of gaining followers.  It is not the number of followers that count but the quality of activity between you.  I was following anyone that followed me when I first joined and my score was usually in the 80’s, I then stopped following many that I was just not interested in  the topic that they wrote about  and my score shot up into the 90’s.  It now wavers between 92 and 98.
    I am only guessing here but I am wondering if the fact that you have several ‘unapproved’ comments affects your score. Instead of commenting on hubs where the writers have not been on Hubpages for several weeks, months and may never return at all why not watch for new hubs being published that you are interested in and get to know the people that are still around.

    I have been at a 100 quite a few times and your score will fluctuate up and down. What you have to do is write quality hubs consistently, interact with the others, read other writer's work and comment. When you follow don't clog the site and only do a handful every few days.
    
    You can do it; but it does take patience and you will get there. :0

    I've never had a Hub reach a 100 score, though my overall author score hit 100 for a day or two a couple of weeks ago. I'm not sure why, as I hadn't been doing anything differently, so I just enjoyed it while it lasted.

       Along with some of these good suggestions, I would add the importance of keeping all hubs updated.  I'm not sure your hubscore will increase but I have noticed an increase un traffic.
